“I'll start by saying that I usually Really like this place. I'm always telling people how everything here is so good and it's a must try when in Portland whether you are vegan, vegetarian or just like good food. Their vegan chili cheese fries are my favorite thing to call in and pick up after a long day or just when I'm craving them, but this time was really disappointing. when I called I was told it would be 40 minutes for my order. I didn't realize they were having an event but I was willing to wait. Unfortunately, it was not worth the wait. When I finally got my order, the food looked like it was literally thrown together. The portion was off from normal and the fries were cold and soggy even though I was already there waiting before they brought it out. Super bummed but unfortunately I didn't know until I got to my car and it wasn't worth walking back in and waiting for them to remake it that night.”

“Definitely my favorite dive bar in Portland. Nothing bad to say. The greater majority of the patrons are very friendly. It is a place you will run into people you know. Absolutely amazing fried chicken. Well worth the wait. The atmosphere is much more lax than your typical bar and grill. All of the bartenders work very hard and in my opinion go above and beyond to maintain the whole bar during busy hours while cooking lots of fried chicken.. also there's just one fryer so best be ready to relax and enjoy your time. “If you were in bar. Security guy checked your ID immediately and he puts the stamp on your wrist. When you got a stamp on your wrist they didn’t check your ID anymore that night. music sounds so loud. Very crowded place because they opened the bar at late night. Only few places opened at midnight. This place is a very popular. Beers were cold enough and fresh. Order some foods are difficult and tough because bar staffs were so busy and crowded. They seemed like a super busy.”

I’ve worked here, eaten here… must have been hundreds of times now… and I just can’t seem to escape the delicious hold Zack’s Shack has on me. “I was enjoying my Valentines Day by myself, the situation become slightly weird & I became uncomfortable & went outside to vape & talk with my sister. A group of women thought I was maybe being loud or didn't like the conversation? They made fun of me and said I was annoying. I tried to not bother anyone or instigate any drama & felt extremely bad and embarrassed about the situation. I ignored that group & tried my best to move on. The bartender got the "vibe" so to speak and was understanding enough and vigilant enough to know my private situation. He treated my very respectfully and well throughout the night. I don't want drama or confrontation & he made sure that I felt safe and comfortable. I won't go into details, but he MADE SURE I was taken care of & safe given what happened. One of the most understanding and respectful bartenders I've experienced in a while. (Bryce?) is very cool as well. After I went home and thought about all the interactions that I experienced, I cannot give enough respect and admiration for this bartender. I will be coming back in the future because of the "vibe" so to speak & the human kindness I was shown given my private situation. 10/10 Will come again.”
