Cafe Van Kleef
4.5
( 8 reviews )

1621 Telegraph Ave, Oakland, CA 94612, United States

“I came here for the ambiance. This place sure is eclectic! Some of the other bars in the area feel... well... sterile. But then again, they aren't art bars. I came on a Friday night, and it was quite busy. I kinda wish I came here more, but duty calls (by that, I mean work .😮‍💨) I don't think they offer food here.”

Albatross Pub
4.4
( 10 reviews )

1822 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley, CA 94702, United States

“Great local watering hole with lots of old world class. Slightly nondescript and off the beaten path of downtown Berkeley, this pub is a gem with a ton of charm. Very laid back, yet oozes character. Enough space for groups, with lots of nooks and crannies to enjoy smaller, more intimate gatherings. Lots of cocktail options and quality local beers on tap, with a daily extended happy hour that includes free bottomless popcorn. Has some nice non-alcoholic options as well. Occasionally hosts music and events, and has a “darts range” in the back so many games can happen simultaneously and safely without hip checking a neighbor’s drink. There is a TV for watching sports. The first bar to open in Berkeley, Albatross has a ton of history and is now owned by two women.”

Eli's Mile High Club

3629 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Oakland, CA 94609, United States

“Aye, a great divey punk bar in the east bay. Ideal outdoor space, inside there’s a small stage for intimate shows. Metal core is blaring in the background, and there are two stocked pool tables. Drinks are affordable and stiff, and people are just having a great time. Along with it being a cool spot, there is some great food too. Pop up by Lula’s pit was so good! There was a delicious vegan sandwich option, but for omnivores, the tri-tip sandwich was also delicious. The mac and cheese was also insanely good, a ton of flavor and I loved that they used farfalle pasta. Definitely will be back here soon. Thanks Eli’s!”
