55 S Harbor Pl, Waukegan, IL 60085, United States

“Nice area, nice beach and piers. I saw the Sam Laud ship offloading at the gypsum plant. Big ship at 634 feet. Several working barges for the erosion work by North Point Marina. Michels is a big outfit doing very nice work on the lakefront.”

Eckert's Grafton Farm
4.5
( 16 reviews )

20995 Eckert Orchard Rd, Grafton, IL 62037, United States

“We went apple picking at the Eckerts Grafton Farm. I liked that it is a small farm, which made it less crowded. They had peddle cars, tubes and maze for the kids to play. The tractor ride to the orchard was fun. We picked Jonathan and Pixie Crunch apples fresh from the trees. The Pixie Crunch apples were delicious to eat. The fun part was you could eat as many as you want in the orchard! Their country store sold a variety of items such as candies, pastas, pickled items, fresh fruits, pies, baked goods, salsa’s and ciders. This was my first time to this location and will definitely be back again. Thank you Eckert’s for the beautiful family memories!!”

Findlay Marina
4.5
( 16 reviews )
Open until 04:30 PM

536 County Rd 800 N, Findlay, IL 62534, United States

“We rented a Party Barge on a slow day, but would have needed it anyway because of the size of our extended family (we've made an annual trip to Shelby... the last 4 years). This review is overdue, as I promised the owner I'd leave it sooner than a year later. She, the owner, was the proverbial greeter when we arrived. Helped us get down to the dock, and if I remember correctly, the owner was super kind and drove my kids down the gravel road to the dock ramp in her F-350. They provided carts to carry all our coolers (food & beverage) & gear from our van on to the dock and to the party barge, which was just the right size with amenities (had a couple grills we could BBQ on) and ladders to allow the kids to swim in the lake. We had a grand ole time and returning the vessel & gassing was easy, as they had their own pumps. While we didn't go this past summer, I would use Findlay again and appreciated their service & willingness to let us get out on the water for a half day, while not breaking the bank.”

Giant Goose Ranch
4.6
( 8 reviews )

25369 N Goose Ranch Rd, Canton, IL 61520, United States

“We stayed at cabin #4 to ge rest, recharge our batteries, and have some quiet. We adopted two special needs children, and I am a 100% disabled veteran. The cabin’s heat was out, the beds were like sleeping on bricks, the water was so cloudy that you couldn’t see through it, and the water stunk. The experience was so bad that I ended up having a seizure so we left early to come home. I woke up today being accused of trying to not pay our bill, and being threatened that one of them was going to come knock on my door at home to get payment. I have been a businesswoman since 2006 owning my own business. I have never spoken to a customer in such a way, nor will I ever. The woman who owns the cellphone you call upon arriving was the one sending threatening texts. We had thought about purchasing a cabin out there as we are a big fishing family. However after driving around the facility half of it looks nice while the rest looks like a bunch of people just threw all their garbage in their yards. It seems like this establishment is more worried about money than taking care of the property and their guests. It’s a shame because it could be a nice place.”
