“Went there the other day for lunch and got a shootingstar, which was tasty and in big size. The surroundings is like walking back in a bubble to the 1930/40’s Denmark. It felt very authentic and the staff were friendly and dressed in uniforms matching the surroundings. Will try it again for evening service later.”

“It is hard to know how to talk about one's experience at Alchemist - it is theater, it is food, it is political, and it is quite astounding. Dining here will give you an experience like no other. We arrived at 6:30 p.m. and left after midnight. You arrive at the door in the middle of industrial park at the end of "nowhere", and this door has no bell, doorknob, handle, nothing. Then, it just opens in front of you. That alone should give you an inkling of what is in store for you. I cannot possibly describe all we ate and drank, so I will just give some highlights. You start in a rather dark room where there is a woman dancing - she leads you to a box, and inside the box are thin pieces of shiny paper. She pantomimes for you to eat it, which of course you do. You are then escorted into a room with seating spread out. We were lucky to get a table by the window where you can see the chefs preparing all that you will eat in this first room. And the first thing you are handed is a metal daisy, and the center is a ball of yellow. You drink it, and there is a lovely explosion of citrus with bits of yuzu ice in it. This is just amazing. You are handed an omelet - described as the best in the world. It is essentially a spherized omelet with comte cheese in the center. It is in fact the best omelet I have ever eaten. You are then escorted up a long flight of stairs to a large room topped with a dome. The dome, at the moment, has projected onto it a huge beating heart. Every so often the entire ceiling changes to something completely different - neurons, computers, colored swirling dots....it is quite something. What did we eat in this room? Uni topped with a solid black crackable top. A lobster claw made from lobster meat but fabricated. A cocktail that glowed in the dark. A tube of crispy potato topped with a soft cheesy mixture and topped with Spanish ham that looked like a flower, Thin slices of rabbit meat served on a metal rib cage. This meal is fantastical, dramatic, provocative, delicious, funny, serious, interesting, and beautiful all at once. This is an experience that I likely will never have again. You get relieved of "things that could fall off" and end up in a room full of white balls. You fall over and laugh and laugh. You get escorted to a fourth room for dessert. You get served a crunchy candy containing a golden ant, a frozen margarita in a solid square, a "tart tartin" the outside of which are wafers that glisten like gold. Finally you get in to an elevator so dramatic I will leave it for you to discover. There is only one word for this experience - remarkable.”
