There's a good selection on the menu, without creating decision fatigue, and there's always additional choices on the specials board. The food is excellently prepared and flavourful, with good sized portions. I feel it's well priced for the quality. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. If you're lucky enough to get a table by the open fire in the Winter months, you won't to leave. Martin, the owner, and the rest of the team are fabulous. Will be continuing to return to The Hand & Dagger. Here's to its continuing success!”

“Exceptional cooking in a cosy pub. My wife loved the cured sea trout starter, and the filet steak which was cooked perfectly. She raved about the cheddar bon bon which accompanied the dish. I had the lamb and feta croquettes to start - super moist lamb in a crispy crumb. The feta complimented perfectly. I had the steak and kidney pudding for my main. Possibly the best I've ever had. It came with cauliflower cheese - also fabulous. Packed full of flavour, and not for anyone looking for a light lunch! Service was quick and polite. Highly recommend - can't wait to return.”

“Stunning interiors, absolutely gorgeous rustic village pub. Great parking space and great vibe the minute u walk in. However it's massively overpriced, menu is poor on top main courses sides are extra prices. Service isn't great and for this level of pricing, you would expect something extra. Food portions are tiny. Not a typical pub filling dishes. I was confused whether this was a village pub trying to strive as a pretentious Michelin restaurant. But achieved neither: not a good home cooked meal, definitely not a restaurant level. The owner needs to decide which direction to choose. 3 stars for interiors only. Great for a drink only. I have been to many local pubs and this one was the weakest.”

“Traveled all the way from London and it didn’t disappoint. First impression, the place was really warm & inviting and the staffs made you feel right at home. I ordered a couple of things but the scallop with risotto really stood out. It was light and tastefully done. The millefeuille is not to be missed. Loved the combination of pistachio and raspberry. Chef Lee told me that they get the ingredients seasonal and locally , no wonder everything tasted so fresh. Highly recommended and will definitely be back!”

“Lovely rustic food with excellent portion sizes. We really enjoyed the atmosphere too, but really let down by the service.. I was close to giving this 3 stars. Half a hour wait to be asked for our order. An hour before we got the food. I had to go prompt for a dessert menu after another long wait and again get up and prompt for them to come and take our dessert menu. The attention to customers from the staff was pretty poor and put a bit of a dampener on our experience.”

“We visited whilst walking in the Clent Hills. We had planned to visit having viewed the menu online but was tempted by the specials board. We shared a starter of Moules Mariniere from the specials menu which was delicious followed by the Venison Burger for my hubby (main menu) and I had the Duck breast, again from the Specials menu. Both our meals were outstanding. The quality of ingredients coupled with the skills of the chef made it the best meal of our holiday (and we'd had a few having been away a few weeks). The food was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. There was a great selection of drink especially real ales. Butty Bach was on when we visited but they also had Wainwrights. It was very quiet but it was a Tuesday lunchtime. The pub is quaint and traditional nestled in the Clent Hills. It is very dog friendly with water bowls and dog treats for pooches sitting in the bar area. There is also a large car park. We highly recommend The Vine and would like to thank the staff on that day for a great meal.”

“I'm sorry to say that so far as value for money is concerned there's a massive NO..... I'd have done better at McDonald's. Two of us fancied a meal at what looked like a good pub eatery. Not living in the area, we didn't know what to expect by way of value for money. My wife wasn't particularly hungry so she ordered a bowl of soup. When it arrived, it was in a tiny jug. The sort of size you'd get milk served in a high class coffee shop. The jug was half full. So she asked for a bit more to top it up. That was £6.50. I ordered sausage and mash. 3 barely cooked sausages, desert spoon of mash, some kind of cabbage, it looked like it had been under a grill because it had burned leaves. The cost of my meal amounted to £14.50.. 1Large coka cola £4.50 I know businesses are under pressure, but this was ridiculous.”

Watch out while crossing the busy road, but it's worth it. Loved the menu option of a "coffee + small serve of dessert" deal. “Wait staff were very friendly and attentive, very dog friendly, they will offer your dog their own bowl of water at the table. And work around all the dogs who are lounging all over the floor. Service was quick, the food was very fresh and high quality. I had the gammon which was very large, juicy, flavourful and perfectly cooked. The food came out quickly it was impressive. The wood burner was lovely, nice and warm. We got the Eton mess for desert, the fruit was very fresh and the meringue was perfect, with real quality ice cream. We also got the cheesecake which was very moreish, sweet and I would recommend it for chocolate lovers. I tried the mulled wine which was boiling hot and very tasty, and a perfect way to end the meal. All the food was presented beautifully and was finished to a high standard. The atmosphere was friendly, welcoming and laid back, we had just come from a very muddy cold walk, we felt underdressed somewhat but were made to feel welcome regardless. We will definitely be coming back and I would highly recommend this place, make sure you book a reservation as it was very busy.”

“Lovely restaurant Very attentive servers who are really polite and helpful. I had garlic bread and salt and pepper shrimp with aioli sauce for starters. Wow that sauce is amazeballs. The mains were meatballs with gnocchi. Tbh, it was well cooked but probably not my cup of tea. I felt the prices were decent. Some other guests in there were quite loud though but no fault of the restaurant.”

Lovely ambience without outdoor seating. A decent selection of beers on top, great cocktails and good wine selection. We shared the padron peppers and Manchego to start and for mains, the King prawn linguine, Fillet steak sandwich, Coco Momo Buttermilk chicken sandwich, Eggs Benedict and the Eggs Royale.
