“First time ever being out in Barnsley and booked this restaurant because it was close to the Civic Hall, where 12 of us had booked tickets for a show there. Our group came from far and wide, Manchester, Hull, Germany, and Leeds, so we decided to all meet up beforehand and chose this restaurant without previous experience of it. To say the least, we were all pleasantly surprised! We had a warm greeting from the owner on arrival and the building itself is lovely inside, I expect it was once a bank or some other important building but nicely decorated and in good condition. We were shown to our table, which was in a good location, plenty of space to move around. Not an easy thing to achieve for a table of 12. The staff were all pleasant, attentive and professional and everyone in our group were really well looked after. The menu was as interesting as it was varied and while our group had a very wide range of ages and tastes, everyone found something they found appetising and everyone thoroughly enjoyed what they chose to order. Even my father, who is in his 80's and not the most adventurous of eaters, came to me after and said that his food was gorgeous and the coffee at the end of the meal was perhaps the best one he had ever had! Quite an accolade in itself coming from my dad! But everyone had a thoroughly great time at the Lemon Tree and if we ever get chance to eat there again, we most definitely will do so. “We ate at Rothley Fisheries and what a total disappointment. Everything we loved about the place is gone. Still blaming covid, we were told they have only just restarted using real knives and forks... Well, count ourselves lucky then. Such a shame, now its just a takeaway with seats. I ordered regular chips my husband small, I was given a small disposable plate with chips that wouldn't have even filled a cone, yet my husband had a large throwaway plate full of chips with his fish on top. After talking it up so much to the birthday girl we took there, we were embarrassed. Not going back.”

“We came here for lunch on a special occasion. We had souvlaki pork, chicken, pomegranate, green salad, hummus, pitta and feta deep fried in honey. The highlight was the deep fried feta and surprisingly the grilled pomegranate. This is certainly some of the finest Greek food I’ve eaten outside of Greece. Nothing really to fault. Fantastic salt marsh lamb, slow cooked with perfect veg and very special kale with a garlic twist. Dessert was also pretty epic, baclava made with honey, dark walnuts and Greek ice cream was just perfect. Coffee also very good. We haven’t been to the Glisold Arms since before 2020, we will return before the end of the week.”

It could probably feed 3 as the portions are massive. The salad was very fresh and the tomatoes were delicious. The meat was all perfectly cooked and very tasty. The chips this evening was like what you can buy in a small supermarket from the freezer, no joke! The gyros meat was brutal, sauce is tiny in a small plastic thing with lid,portion of the sauce wasnt even like a spoon size and look at the salad. In social media the food is perfect, that's a lie now sorry. Very very disappointed! Same money different quality, no thank you! I'm in shock!”
