“We wanted to eat Unagi so much that we picked this restaurant with good reviews. It is not strategically located and we relied on taxi to bring us here. It has a very traditional Japanese dining setting, the dinning table and chair are placed on tatami mat. Ordered a set each of the 2-pcs Yanamabushi set and 3-pcs Unaju set. Each set comes with soup, green veggie and a small dish of mushrooms. The delicious of kabayaki are grilled to perfection, it is basted in a savoury and not overpowering sweet sauce. The fillet is very soft and fluffy, pleasant on the-palate and without a fishy or earthy aftertaste. The highlight of the dinner is the grilled eel livers skewer, kimoyaki. It has a distinctive succulent texture and paired well with sake. The environment here is pleasant and staff is extremely friendly and courteous. The staff even assisted to call a taxi for us after the dinner. Two thumbs up to this excellent restaurant.”

“If you are a tourist please avoid this place at all costs. We were quiet and polite customers and ordered in Japanese. However, the staff took order for customers who came after us when we clearly indicated to the staff that we were ready to order. The only male staff refilled water for the table next to us and new customers but didn’t bother to fill our empty cups. But the worst part was when we asked about a dish that hasn’t come, the male staff first told us that they were still preparing it, then came back in 15 seconds and asked us if we have placed the order for that dish. Like if you were really preparing it obviously you had our order? I said yes because we ordered it in first and only round and didn’t make additional orders. He checked our bills and told us nah the order was NOT placed and he would ask the chef to cook it right away. I be like, then why did you lie about it was being made in the first place? Horrible service.”

“They said Sauce-katsudon, a fried pork cutlet dressed by sauce on rice, has been originally created by this restaurant. The sauce is light, not much cut cabbage on rice, and thick pork I love it. Prices are bit overpriced I think. Note that you have to wait a half hour as minimum, no recommended for quick bite.”

“I like to eat mori soba and have warm kake soba as a second helping. It's delicious, filling and satisfying. The timing of the refills was perfect and I felt very well taken care of, which made me feel good (^-^) Since it is a popular restaurant, it seems to be very crowded around 12:00. I usually go outside of that time, but a friend from far away wanted to eat soba, so I went during a busy time, but I don't recommend going during that time if you want to eat delicious soba. It wasn't the usual impressive soba noodles ((T_T))”

“Tamura Shokudo was featured on TV. I asked for the katsudon that was being broadcast. Although the meat was thick, it was very soft and the coating was crispy and very delicious. You can choose the amount of rice you want: large, normal, or small, so even those who don't have a lot of rice can rest assured. Also, the offal stew is not too strong, and its thinness gives it a familiar taste that is easy to eat.”

“This is my first visit to the store. I ordered omelet rice and gyoza. Omelet rice is 980 yen and gyoza is 450 yen. The egg on the omelet rice is thin and hard, and I personally like it softer. The taste was delicious, but I think the size is for women. It was small. The gyoza is said to be handmade, but Osaka Ohsho's gyoza is delicious in every way. Next time, I would like to order their special curry rice.”

“3 stars because Google maps doesn't show there's parking on both sides of the restaurant. Front parking ng is very difficult because of oncoming traffic both ways. Make sure you have someone help you spot for oncoming cars and be your eyes for any blind spots. The restaurant itself is very nice and cozy inside. They did forget to bring chopsticks and serve some extra food, but brought it quickly. This restaurant only accepts cash even though they're taking precautions about COVID and will ask to put down your name and contact number when paying at the register. That made zero sense to me...why isn't contact less payment implemented if they fear COVID and want customers contact information?”

“Family run establishment made famous by terrace house. Did not know when we went but found out that royal family have dined here as shown by the pictures. There's an English menu. And it closes at 8pm during winter weeknights, last order around 7.30pm. They specialise in chicken dishes and would recommend the following: 1. Griled chicken thigh 2. Fried breaded chicken with asparagus 3. Karaage Food exceeded expectations as we wondered how good can chicken get? But that chicken thigh is something special. Food service can be a bit slow as the grandfather(?) makes each dish with care... So be patient, its worth it!”

“Great spot to chill out for expats! Fantastic location with hot springs close by (a 10-minute walk), but no convenience store in the vicinity. I suggest to pay extra for cottages near the river. Rooms aren't wide, but what the heck... you aren't there to sleep! BBQing is a must. The closest supermarket is Ōmachi's Seiyu & it has a wide selection of meats. Enjoy!”
