“I was excited to come here after hearing good things but I was really disappointed. Visited as a birthday celebration for my mum. Was surprised to see the restaurant so quiet. Very silent with no background music - had a weird atmosphere. I do however think this is because of people sitting outside for fireworks. Being a vegetarian I had the bhaji burger which was so bland. Was nothing like a bhaji. Just a vegetable patty which was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I couldn’t even force myself to eat it. Could be improved with a lot more Indian spices and some mango chutney perhaps. I upgraded my fries to truffle and Parmesan fries which were £7 however they arrived soft and cold! Not at all crispy how fries should be. I mentioned this to the waiter who kindly got me some fresh fries. When collecting plates the waiter asked how our meal was. I’m mentioned I was disappointed with the burger to which he did apologise on behalf of the restaurant and removed this from the bill which was kind. My parents had the haddock and chips which they thoroughly enjoyed however we were shocked that peas were charged as £4 extra. Since when does a classic dish such as fish and chips not even include peas?! Had to ask for tartar sauce to be brought out too. We had the ginger pudding and amaretto & chocolate torte for dessert which were both delicious. I genuinely thought the prices of the food did not match the quality. I’m a big foodie and dine around frequently. I rarely complain, send food back or even write reviews but thought it was important to give a true impression of this overhyped restaurant. Sadly won’t go back to the Fox & Goose but will return to the BakeHouse next door where I’ve been previously.”

“Came here for a birthday and the food was disgusting. The venue was a complete mess! Everything was greasy and tasted of oil, glasses were filthy, staff clueless and pottering around and no food for children unless you pay full price for an oily fish cake. Also, £1.50 for a bread roll and the lobster was drowning in oily garlic so you couldn’t even taste it. When complaining to the staff about things, it took them 20 minutes to change a glass or they forgot about it! Worst meal ever and it was over £200! Their only edible item was the potatoes.”

“Very good farm shop with café Much larger than what I was expecting. Tonnes of different stock available, all looked very fresh and yummy ! There's fruit, veg, cakes, bread products and butchers fridge plus much more as u can see from my photos ! Out side is a kids play area with playground, crazy golf, goats, inflatable slide and an old tractor they can sit on. On the farm next door is a pick your own fruit area, it's huge and the fruit tastes amazing ! This was the aim reason we visited today. Never had such ymy fresh fruit and its good value for money !”

“I had my daughters 5th birthday party at the Pizza Express in Moulsham Street, Chelmford and it was amazing. It is a great party venue and everything is set up for you I just had to bring the balloons and the cake. The party host was energetic and really good with the kids keeping them engaged and entertained. One of our party guests even commented “That was the best kids party I’ve ever been to!” My daughter and her kids had the best time. Thank you to the staff who made it so special for them.”

“I'm no stranger to curry as I grew up eating my Aunties home cooked food. I can honestly say the flavours captured by this place are very good. However I've had to mark it down for a reason. We ordered a prawn and lamb dish this time, but there was hardly any fish or meat in the dish. It was all mainly sauce and teeny tiny prawns. I know due to circumstances everyone is cutting down here and there but here it was really noticed. Customer is king.. if they're pleased they'll always come back.”
