They allowed me to adapt the full breakfast because I don’t eat tomato or mushrooms, so I exchanged it for something else. The coffee is beans are good, Artisan roast… but you have to ask for those beans specifically. The preparation could have been better and the machine temperature was set too hot. However, I understand it’s not a specialty coffee place. Would recommend!”

“The shop here has some lovely gifts, great coffee and cakes which we had as a take out and took it down to the pond and Willow and Fairy walks. The Labyrinth is disappointing but the other walks are lovely! The Willow walk was great to see the talent that went into creating the huts etc and the Fairy walk was so cute, even as 2 30 year old adults 🤣 definitely will be back!”

“The food was fantastic! Can't fault any of the dishes we had. Our server had a great sense of humour and was attentive just the right amount, considering how busy it was. One of the servers accidentally spilled food towards one of my friends which then spilled onto her clothes a little. She seemed quite new, still learning. She apologised but could have tried to help clean up or replace the food that fell on the floor. Our table was situated right beside the food hatch and toilets so people were passing constantly. Not the best if you want a quiet, intimate evening. Regardless of this, we had a lovely time and would highly recommend the sea bass and carbonara!”

“Hidden off the main path, Under the Stairs is a casually chic eatery for omnis and vegans alike. As a vegan I appreciated the vegan menu options being clearly marked. For small plates the winner for me was the Pea and Mint dip, which was refreshing and bursting with flavour. For larger plates, the vegan ravioli was comforting and impressive, but the real stand-out was the Fennel/Kholrabi/Orange salad. I am still thinking about this salad... it was this perfect balance of fresh, crispy, sweet, and crunchy. All the ingredients from the fennel to the pomegrante seeds worked in perfect harmony. It was also a large portion, so I could continue enjoying myself bite after bite after bite. Probably one of the best salads I've ever had. The Lemon Cherry Posset had a perfect balance of tart to sweet and the sugar snap biscuits complemented the texture of the pudding beautifully. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was relaxing. Highly recommend.”

The best bacon roll I have ever had (and I have eaten a few) with rhubarb ketchup: roll and bacon both perfectly crisped. Then an exquisite spiced plum and patisserie cream (perfect) pastry with a ginger crumb. And fabulous coffee. So good we returned the next day and I had exactly the same. A wonderful discovery. Bought bread and one of Flora’s cookery books. My wife described the first recipe I made from it as “the best thing you have made”. Tiny, with only 9 seats, but proof that small is beautiful.”
