“Fantastic little pub tucked on the edge of Dartmoor. Very cosy and quintessential, exactly what you want after a wet walk on the moors with some friends. We were a tad early for food but the two lovely ladies behind the bar served us drinks and sorted a table before taking our order to have it ready as soon as service was on. 5 awesome Beef and Ale pies led to 5 clean plates, washed down with a great selection of local beer. Hard to beat it for a Sunday activity. Can’t wait to go again!”

“such a lovely cosy pub, great for families or couples really lovely decoration inside with a log fire in the middle! we felt right at home when we arrived and wasn’t too busy at all which was a shock! food was amazing one of the best meals we’ve had in a while - the steak pie and venison with dauphinois potatoes were just perfect!! great portion sizes and really good value for money - think we spent around £55 for two of us for a main and drink each - and we shared a starter. Good selection of drinks would definitely return if in the area in the future! could not recommend more if you’re staying in dartmouth”

“Both the food & the service were fantastic. I would definitely recommend & go again. A larger party we sat upstairs & brought the dog which wasn’t a problem. Really reasonably priced too, £240 for 9 mains, 4 starters, 4 desserts & drinks including alcohol. My one comment would be that there was no kids menu. But they did have childrens food. We got the sausage & chips but it came with no vegetables which seemed weird. The Hake was the best I have ever had. The burger is MASSIVE & my teen said the Chicken Kiev was the best meal she’s ever had in a pub.”

“I do not know where to start with such a fabulous evening. Susie was just incredible in helping us organise a surprise meal for a milestone birthday for 24 people. From communications (which started 9 months prior) to table decor, being available for dropping off of decor and cake to the service on the night which was 5*. We had pre ordered our choices and the food was all ready at the same time, piping hot and not a single person had a bad word to say about any dish. Many that hadn't pre ordered dessert made the decision to add this on the night, not because they were still hungry but because their mains were so tasty. This was accommodated and there was no delay between the pre ordered desserts arriving and the additional. Large tables can be a lot of work, and if we were Susie and her team did not show it at all. The whole night went perfectly, we could not have asked for better. Certainly will be returning. For the service and the absolutely incredible food. A smaller menu but with the largest variety. And every dish perfected. Thankyou Susie and all at the Smugglers.”
