“Large comfortable suite with a washer and dryer in the bathroom (!), and a mini kitchen with fridge, sink, microwave and coffee maker plus kettle and tea and coffee packets supplied. “This place is nice, warm and pleasant. It's been really comfortable staying here. What makes this place go from average to stellar is the staff. So warm and friendly, nothing is a bother, and you feel really looked after. Whether it's the reception staff, housekeeping, or servers in the hotel restaurant the people have just been so kind and welcoming. I would come back here purely because the staff are so good.”

5 Motuariki Lane, Lake Tekapo 7999, New Zealand

“Everything! The location has to be the best part! What a fantastic view! You can see the lake and the church of the good shepherd, with views from the kitchen/dining room/living area/balconies/some rooms. The kitchen is modern and very well-equipped with lots of storage space for food, big fridges and a freezer, plenty of microwaves, etc. The rooms were modern and clean. The beds had charging ports, reading lights, a privacy curtain, and lockers under the bed and free standing as units. Bathrooms are clean and modern. The staff were very friendly, and kept all of the spaces very clean. There is also a pool table, a TV room, and outside seating. Amazing location right next to the Dark Sky Project and supermarket, very short walks to all the nearest cafes/restaurants.”

Sherwood Queenstown

Closed until 03:00 PM

554 Frankton Road, Queenstown 9300, New Zealand

“A lovely place to stay in Queenstown with incredible views but removed enough from the crowds. The bedroom was spacious and clean, however the bathrooms could use a bit of an upgrade (but were clean and with lots of hot water). We paid for a view but it was mostly obstructed, which wasn’t a huge deal but worth nothing. We sadly only went to the restaurant for breakfast but I had the best scrambled eggs I have ever had (and probably will ever have) so will have to come back for dinner during another visit. I would very happily stay here again.”

“♿️ I am an amputee and part time wheelchair user. Very unimpressed with this hotel.👎🏻 🛏️ ROOM 👎🏻 Pays lip service to disability access at best. Small less than obvious rise into bathroom, no cavity slider door, very slippy tiles and a dangerously placed glass shower divider meant I tripped, slipped and cut my toe open. Balcony completely inaccessible to a wheelchair user. Housekeeping even walked in on us without knocking on one occasion. 👩‍💼 I raised the issues with hotel staff on check out. They gave me loyalty points I later find out I can’t use at this hotel. 👎🏻 Next time I tried to book, I find out a disabled room costs more than a regular room and isn’t available for me to book specifically. It seems anyone can book them, disabled or not, they are not set aside specifically for disabled guests. 🧭 location is great, close to the wharf and the waterfront. So it’s a shame so many other things were wrong. ‼️I would discourage other disabled travellers from booking this hotel & it is definitely not worth the costs they charge per room, per night. “Felt very well taken care of. You can tell whoever owns this place takes great pride in it, as it was super clean and organized. They even called to check in once we settled in and to see if we needed anything before the office closed for the night. At every corner there were little touches that showed how much they care about keeping this place in good shape and I’ve never felt that way about any place I’ve stayed before. Honestly heartwarming”

Ashley Gorge Holiday Park

“Beautifully maintained site. Cannot see the river from the campsite as there is a picnic spot between the site and the river. Only downside was the constant noise from mowing, jet washing and chainsawing but I think that was because we visited a week before Xmas and they were preparing for the holiday season.”

“Nice location, peaceful, friendly staff and good views. Pool was kept clean. The bed was comfortable, dinner on the evening was good, and the bread in particular. Wife is Veg/ Vegan, and the menu was limited but the Chef offered to make a veg pasta. The menu sadly didn’t change at all. There were about five main meals, one vegetarian. There were a few veggie sides, which were tasty. The unfortunate part was that the menu never changed. I asked if there would be any changes, but sadly it’s only changed every 3 months. So if you’re staying a few nights it gets repetitive and so we dined at one of the restaurants in the local village for the rest of our stay. If the restaurant had a menu that changed each night or theme nights, I’m sure they would be booked out, like the restaurant in the village. Breakfast was very average. The creamy mushrooms were obviously from the creamy mushroom pasta dinner the night before and night after and so on…and used again for breakfast. As my wife is vegetarian and has strictly no meat or contamination with it, she couldn’t each any of the hot vegetarian breakfast food on the buffet. For example, the hash browns were put out next to the bacon and the utensils would be put in a shared area under the food. The hash browns tastes of bacon fat. Noticed the sausage was out with tomatoes too. People used any utensils and mixed them and the food was contaminated. Extra thought must be used from kitchen staff to keep veg together, cook the veg on separate hot plates to meat and away from the meat if possible. One evening the bread served with the veg pasta tasted of meat. The staff were kindly honest and apologetic explaining it had been grilled on the same hot plate as the steaks, and replaced the bread. But this is the sort of food hygiene that should be avoided- if you have allergies, I would err on the side of caution based on my wife’s experience as a veggie. Free laundry option was a great idea, especially for families. But the machine had a bad moisture smell. We used it but our clothes didn’t smell very good after. Think it just needs a cleaning tablet put in to give it a good clean and that should fix the issue. On a positive again, there was a good drink selection, lots of wine to choose from as well as a few bar snacks (limited but does the trick). However I never got to try the truffle fries, as the chef never had the truffle oil throughout our whole 5 nights stay, so couldn’t try them. It was really nice sitting on the terrace off the bar having a drink and admiring the view. Lounge area was clearly original from 70’s / 80’s which had a quirky homely feel, but was a bit old and rough around the edges. There was an old sofa with rips and tears which I wouldn’t look out of place on the hard rubbish day outside the house in the street. If you could add kids board games/ books to the book case I’m sure that would be welcomed by families with younger kids. Three games but missing pieces and a bit too advanced for little ones. All in all we had a nice enough time, enjoyed the views, pool, staff were very friendly but it wasn’t outstanding. Room for improvement especially on the food contamination front.”

“Our family from Wellington go to the restaurant often. Our experience was massively disappointing. Tables were very cheaply set up for xmas day. The food was so disappointing. The cheese platter was appalling. Definitely by far the most disappointing meal for xmas by far. Certainly not worth what it cost us.”

“The king pod was small but serviceable. They set up a pullout bed by request before my arrival which was nice. Could be improved by adding hooks over the shower door to hang a towel. At $200/night, the value wasn't great, but I will say the service was top-notch! Sierra is so sweet. She gave us advice on restaurants and hiking. She even walked to our room to help answer a question we had. Amenities: communal lounge/kitchen, trampoline, ping pong table, darts, laundry, picnic tables, outdoor tub for each pod, parking right outside pods for easy luggage moves”
