“I’ve been to a few hostels and not many compare to this one. Fast check in. They offer a cheap 3 course dinner with a drink for $12. Chef Ines is good at what she does! The food is delicious. The pub crawl was really fun and affordable. The people here are super social and fun. You will not regret your time here. Great location as well. Close to downtown and the port. And the night shift is the best!”

“I would not recommend massages at the spa. We did not feel the level of care or attention we are used to - and at such a high price I would save your time and money. We booked 90 minute couples treatment with facial at 5pm, arriving early so we could utilize the sauna and Turkish bath, only one of which was available to use. By 5:45, we were wondering what was going on and why we weren’t being called back, finally they came to take us to the treatment room. We soaked our feet for five minutes (in a bowl too small for my partner’s feet) and waited again for their return. They never asked us how the pressure was, and we were leaving the room by 6:55. That isn’t 90 minutes of service, so we feel overcharged and disappointed. I heard so much walking around during the treatment, I actually thought another person was in the room - after I learned it was my partner’s therapist. It isn’t relaxing to be vulnerable on a table while people walk around a room, they should have been better prepared for the price of this treatment. At one point, the music turned off and it took discussion and several clicks to get it back. It was really not up to the quality we are used to, and I expected even more considering we never spend 300 euro on massage treatment. I would say get a massage elsewhere, it felt like this was a training and not a professional service. We mentioned our disappointment at the end and they just ignored us. Also, this hotel is not secluded. You are near town so unfortunately dogs barked all through the night and you could hear it through the tower room windows. I would recommend this hotel put white noise machines in their rooms - I could still hear the dogs barking through my ear plugs. The mattress in the tower room is the worst I’ve experienced and the duvet smelled like sweaty men. Needs a deep cleaning. The grounds are beautiful. The receptionist was so kind. Dinner was amazing - they made me a special vegan meal very easily and without fuss. I just want to warn others to save your money on the spa and avoid.”

“Had a lovely stay in a picturesque setting with a castle that I would wake up to every morning. Nice gated complex with 24-hour concierge. Nice rooms, and was pleasantly upgraded. Nice breakfast included in an area in the older historic castle part of the building. Requests addressed promptly. Location is a 10 min walk to downtown central. Staff was very pleasant and helpful, and provided us with a tourist attractions map to easily find. We actually extended our stay at this location for another 3-days for a total of 6-days. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay again. Thank you for a wonderful time.”

Rua da Restauração 336, 4050-501 Porto, Portugal

“Overall this is a nice hotel, but definitely had some issues staying here. It's very dark inside and our car that we paid valet parking for was left outside overnight, which is concerning given theft in the area. The amenities in the room weren't great (including an old TV with movies you have to rent), and the food at the restaurant had few vegetarian options and really no options friendly for pregnant women. The hotel is beautiful and we enjoyed the view, but overall would not stay here again.”

“We came to this hotel after spending a few days in Porto, so the quiet seclusion was perfect for us. It was so relaxing to be able to easily park our rental car and have the staff take complete care of us - from booking our Quinta visit, to a welcome port reception with cheese and meats, as well as additional welcome drinks, they had everything under control for us. Telmo at the library bar was such a delight to talk with, we didn’t even realize we kept him past closing time! During our stay, we hardly saw other people. It was just what we needed to recharge before we head back to the busy city of Porto. It started getting busier on our check out day as they are doing renovations to some of the rooms. But I loved our stay here. The art was a really really nice touch. We spent hours looking at all of it.”

“The location is central. The suite was excellent. Stayed in a non suite room as well which was good. But no hot water in the women's bathroom. Nor did the window close so it was freezing. Construction right outside the windows which isn't great. The general info given by the team was also not the best when compared to the other hostels we stayed at in our trip to Portugal.”

“While not the least expensive option, you definitely get what you pay for. An absolutely lovely, isolated spa resort. We enjoyed it thoroughly. The owners were spectacular hosts - the resort lost power around dinner time and they invited us to the dining room where the fireplace was lit, candles everywhere, and served us a wonderful mix of meats, cheeses, bread, wine, and even a homemade dessert using the preserves they make on site. The hospitality was superb as are the facilities. Highly recommended”

“Room with shared entrance small and very basic. We booked as thought all room have this door to the terrace. When we arrived were showned our room. Turns out you share those entrance in some rooms. We were showned room 9B. The room 9A was open we thought as the same entrance it's all part of the room. Later on the receptionist come to tell us it's only 1 room. Instead of asking to remove things he simply drop all by our door. Which it's extremely rude. So wallet pants etc all on the floor. Really poor attention of care. When you put in consideration it's only 1 room they are really small, on ours lights bulbs in the bathroom 3 didn't work, shower it's really basic with rust in the bottom and bin with rust too. So it's two rooms with 1 set of table outside the room. How does that work if you both want to seat there. The view it's to a marquise not that great. Televisions channels only the Portuguese 7 basic. Breakfast starts at 9 but wasn't ready. It's a really basic breakfast. In fact the basic we had since a trip to India and we travel a lot. As our details says check out at 11 but the room says 12. I ask the receptionist which one was it and he said 11. Then I mention the rooms got a sign saying 12. Which he look at me like I was lying to I said it's in the room. So he said you can stay like was doing me a favour. After this we decided to leave. Enough was enough. Customer service the worst I ever encounter in a hotel. Your car will get very dirty with birds on the tree . Room it's very basic for what you pay. Ibis rooms are better and it's a budget hotel. Restaurant food and service was good. Surrounding ares too even though pool cleaning machine never removed. But you go to a hotel for a treat and not putting up with poor customer service”

Allegro Madeira - Adults Only

Closed until 02:00 PM

R. do Gorgulho 1, 9004-504 Funchal, Portugal

“We didn't stay here, but my parents did and we visited them while they were there. Its quite a small hotel and the rooms and bathrooms are also, shall we say, compact. As many reviews on Trip Advisor have mentioned, the hanging space for clothes is above a dressing table/ desk so clothes are literally hanging on it if they're long. Not really ideal. You could make do for a couple of nights, but inconvenient for longer stays. No where to store suitcases so they are in the way. Pool area a reasonable size but lacking in any character. Gym was a nice surprise. Small but really nice. The gem is the rooftop bar with 360 degree views. The bar downstairs is pleasant but small. Location is outside of Funchal centre but close enough to walk comfortably enough. Easy access to sea promenade. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops close by.”

“I had the most wonderful stay at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. The room was not only clean and comfortable but also beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The amenities were top-notch, and I particularly enjoyed the delicious breakfast spread they offered each morning. The hotel's central location made it convenient to explore the city, and the staff was always eager to provide helpful recommendations for local attractions and dining. I can't thank the team at this hotel enough for making my stay so enjoyable. I will definitely be returning on my next visit!”

Termas S. Pedro do Sul, 3660-692 Várzea Sps, Portugal

“We’ve stayed at the hotel during a weekend with a group of friends. Hotel is beautiful from the outside and close to the termal facilities, just in front of a beautiful river. Overall service is good, staff is very nice, though short for the amount of people. For perspective, we had to wait 20 minutes to checkout and there was a large queue of guests waiting to do so as there was only one person in the front desk. Breakfast is ok, but trailing other four-star hotels we’ve been to. More relevant is the fact that rooms seem to be dated, though clean. Major refurbishment is needed, as it sits the hotel is much closer to a three-star than to a four-star hotel… Overall, hotel is good value for money, but make sure you don’t go with high expectations.”

“even though I am not a camping person, I had the chance to be in the bungalow, and it is a nice price for the package. the camping is placed in a surrounding area with plenty of pedestrian routes to listen and breath the Nature. you have a river beach in 50meters from the camping, really cool. the camping is not big, what makes it quieter and has all the required facilities to relax and be in contact with Nature for a few days”

“We had a most wonderful 4 day stay in this beautiful boutique hotel, tucked away on a beautiful cobble locked street in the Alfama district. Everyone was welcoming, warm, genuine, efficient & professional. Service was excellent from all members of staff. I celebrated my 60th birthday during my stay & the hotel could not have been more thoughtful & kind, making it very special for me with complimentary wine & birthday cake & candles. You feel like you are in a very warm cocoon, the modern conversion from an old bakery, respectively nodding to it's past in a very sensitive way. We just loved it. I especially loved my swim in the infinity pool the morning of my birthday. Thank you everyone!”

R. do Dr. Magalhães Lemos 83, 4000-332 Porto, Portugal

“The rooms are great, have curtains to have privacy and and lights being switched on. Each bed comes with a built in shelf to pop items in neatly and conveniently. The plugs were also located well so that irrespective of cable length you could plug in anything you wanted knowing it would charge. The rooms were a bit difficult to get into as the room cards were very fiddly and particular way to make them work on the 3/4th attempt. Bathroom is small but clean and well built. None in common area however. The common area is a little run down and the sofas didn't look very clean. The kitchen was clean and the breakfast spread was simple but very good, with bread and a few different spreads and jams, and some cheese and ham slices. 2-3 cereal choices and coffee and orange juice to choose from. The rooftop area was not very pleasant to sit on during the day as the bar has all of the cushions and opens in the evening. The swimming pool is a nice touch, more of a plunge pool to cool off at around 8ft wide and about knee depth, and has fantastic views from that height, you can see all over the city and is gorgeous at night. You get a discount at the bar, meaning drinks are very reasonable at the bar and a fantastic atmosphere in the evening to hang out in The staff are friendly and helpful. For the price it was really worth it and would visit again.”
