“Great place by the beach and has awesome views of the Fort. We loved the stay there for two nights. The breakfast spread is fairly good but they should keep a coffee machine too. The little beach though was filthy but that is out of bounds for the management. The pool was very nice. The staff overall was courteous and housekeeping was top notch. Would love to visit again in the future.”

“1. Food quality was highly questionable. We got really bad food poisoning after staying here for 4 nights (all drinking & dining in the hotel). During our last stay, my partner and I had to run to the restroom at 4am, and symptoms worsened even after we left over 2 days. 2. Final bills were often wrong (wrongly calculated laundry bill or forgotten to add the laundry bill.) 3. NYE mandatory charge of $250 / pax was super overpriced for the food quality (not fresh/cold) and performance (songs were old fashion and our table was shaking aggressively when people were dancing) 4. Service was good but didn’t justify the other underwhelming facts”

“We went to the Radh for afternoon High Tea, it was amazingly good. There was a stunning selection of savories and cakes served on a very trendy, golden cake stand. The cups of tea were excellent too, in fact they were nicest we've had so far in Sri Lanka. Each and every mouthful of the savories and cakes were delicious. We took our time and slowly scoffed the lot. Our waiter was attentive and looked after us very well. I would certainly recommend having High Tea at the Radh. Just bear in mind that you have to give a day's notice as they have to have time to prepare.”

In terms of food, breakfast was great. For lunch and dinner I would recommend getting the Sri Lankan food - the prawns I had had a strange taste. Other menu items were good though. It’s also kid friendly and they are mindful of dietary restrictions.”

“My sister and I spent a night here when we arrived in Sri Lanka before we started our round trip. As soon as we entered the hostel we were blown away by the lobby as it looks so modern and not like a hostel at all! All the staff was incredibly kind and we immediately felt very welcome. They offered us tea and coffee that is free of charge for guests. We spent the night in an 8 bed dorm. This room cannot be locked! There is storage for everyone underneath the bunk bed. However we could only use one as the other couldn't be fully opened since it was blocked by another bunk bed. It was fine for us as we only locked in our valuables and left our bags next to the bed. All the other guests were very trusting and we haven't experienced any theft. Even though there were only three toilets and two showers for all females on our floor, we never had to wait for our turn. The was no warm water to shower which is fine cause it's hot in Colombo anyway. The location was great and close to everything we wanted to explore. The staff was incredibly helpful and explaining to us how we could get to our next destination.”

“The hotel provided a decent stay, but cleanliness and maintenance could be improved. We were given a small room smelling bad and not cleaned at all. There were stains everywhere in the room even on bedsheets. We had to ask the staff to change our bedsheets and put an air freshener. Later, the property manager (couldn't get his name) offered us a new room. We were given an incorrect bill for the extra meals we purchased and they had to refund me the overcharged amount. The staff was really helpful.The way their property manager deals with their guests should be really appreciated. When it comes to food, I cannot complain about a single thing. They served us very delicious food. Overall experience was not great.”

“The building and the courtyard are beautiful but the room layout was horrendous. Bedrooms face inner courtyard and are dark. Service was fine but not excellent. Our suite had a maisonette sleeping area with a slippery, squeaky and steep staircase connecting the bedroom and the rest of the room. Going to the bathroom at night was a real mission of trying not to break a limb. On top of that, the stair was so squeaky walking on it meant not only waking up everybody in your room, but in the neighbouring rooms as well. We had a loud ac unit rattling through the night which the management fixed upon request. Food wasn’t great at breakfast, better at dinner. Lovely live musing on weekends. Cocktails were overpriced and not too good. Overall it’s a superb location in the fort and an impressive historic building, but that’s about it for the good stuff. If it was half the price, it would make sense.”
