Av. Del Morro s/n, Marinero, 70934 Puerto Escondido, Oax., Mexico

“I recently stayed hear with a group, and this hotel is absolutely gross. I would never stay here ever again. The rooms are disgusting, the water pressure is terrible and a shower took me over an hour to wash my hair. Two of our rooms had dead cockroaches, another ended up with a very large live lizard in it(because they don’t seal their windows or doors) and another with large, biting red ants that had to be killed. The floors are also just unbearably disgusting to a point where I never took my shoes off and I was extremely afraid that the rooms have bedbugs. One day while lying out by the pool, I watched the staff quickly remove two beds from a room across from the adult pool, so I am fairly certain this hotel has bedbugs. In addition, one of the travelers in our group couldn’t even get body wash from the staff, and she was told that you could only get body wash if you booked a certain level of room. I’ve never heard of such a thing in my entire life. In addition to that, she booked a room through the group that we traveled with, but upon check in, that room had a cockroach in it so she had to be moved to another room of a lower quality. As such, she certainly should’ve received body wash as it was in the first room. However, the location is great and I think that’s why people stay here, but I did a quick Google search and found many other local hotels without these issues. I would beware of this hotel, and not stay here.”

“There are many reasons why we loved Hotel El Mirador. Location is superb. We walk whenever we can and this hotel is very well situated to walk to the gym , beaches , restaurants, busy streets for shopping and food , Chedraui is close by too ! If you want to go to the further beaches and I’m sure you do , you can take a taxi right out front or a collectivo as well. The rooms are very clean , bed was very comfy. lots of hot water, good view of the ocean, two very large and clean pools. The 2nd story pool was just retiled and it’s like new. The staff are very friendly and kind and will help you out if need be! The air conditioner works superb ! A special thank you for making us feel so welcome! Like any hotels one does hear noise occasionally but at bedtime , the noise stops so no worries there. There is a great place to eat called La Luna , 10 meters close that is associated with the hotel. We ate most breakfasts there and Gloria takes care if your preferences. We will be back for sure. Muchas Gracias for having us!”

“Great value for money. The hotel staff is friendly and professional. All the facilities were clean. There is a pool to relax at. Breakfast was amazing, such a wide variety of foods. The only downside is that there was no warm water during my shower in the evening”

“I recently stayed as part of a group. Pros: The design and layout was well done. The courtyard and public spaces were filled with plants and seating. The room is well laid out and simple. This allows for a peaceful and relaxing stay. The bathroom is well laid out also. What could be improved: I was freezing or too hot every night. I spoke with reception and they just shrugged. I didn’t sleep during the stay. No temperature worked. Mostly, it was too cold at night. Very uncomfortable. Breakfast: supposedly included but I had a hard time getting served. One of the 4 days, I waited for an hour while everyone around me was served. I got apologies but breakfast took more than an hour. They also changed what was included daily. This was disappointing. The coffee shop was good. Most of the service requests went unanswered. The location was good and once inside, you felt at ease.”

Calle Colorín 510. Col. La Crucesita La Crucesita, 70989 Santa Cruz, Oax., Mexico

“Good value and clean rooms with working AC. Stayed over for one night booked a two king sized bed for four people. We arrived directly to the front desk inquiring for availability, had no trouble getting a room. We were able to leave our luggage and explore the area until the room was ready. Great location, 35 pesos to get to the nearest beach using Taxi. The rooms were clean with sheets and clean bathroom. It can get a little noisy depending on other guests if the room is near the pool, but otherwise it was a great place to rest with interesting decorations. We were recommended by the front desk to do a night time Bioluminescence tour on the beach, can definitely recommend. (Tip, ask to use the open showers after visiting the beach to prevent sand from coming into the room :) )”

Hotel Casa Bocana

La Bocana, 70987 La Bocana de Copalita, Oaxaca, Mexico

“Really friendly staff and gorgeous interior but unfortunately I won’t be coming back. This place is perfect for someone that wants to only stay in the hotel: eat and sunbathe exclusively there. The location is very secluded from everything in Huatulco and yes, waking distance to a open sea beach but it’s not really an option to go there since the hotel did not provide working umbrellas even though before booking I called the hotel and confirmed that they did: upon checking-in they mentioned that the wind broke the beach umbrellas they had BUT they also mentioned that any equipment borrowed from the hotel to the beach that was mishandled needed to be payed for…. So following their logic the umbrellas that were damaged were also payed for but still haven’t been replaced, this is not acceptable specially considering the price for a night. The check-in process also needs polishing since you are greeted with a large amount of information in a 15-20 minute speech right under the Huatulco heat, in my opinion a lot of the information given by the check in lady could be delivered in a written way. I think the hotel is beautiful design-wise but for the price it should include breakfast… The restaurant is good but very expensive when you think about the fact that you’re basically forced to have every meal in the hotel since it’s not close to anything else and going anywhere in town has a price of a minimum of 200$ Other details worth mentioning: beach towels always had yellow stains and the common TV room is not really up pair with the price. They back this up by saying that your stay is meant be a “disconnect” but I think this should be optional: if I don’t want to watch tv in my room, I won’t turn it on. Also the room has only black out blinds and no curtains, so it’s either pitch black but windows covered or fully see through windows.”

Casa De Olas Boutique Hotel

Michoacán 158, Brisas de Zicatela, 70934 Puerto Escondido, Oax., Mexico

“I absolutely loved my stay here. The helpful and friendly staff really made the stay more pleasurable. The view from our room was beautiful, the studio on the top floor was very appreciated and I did really lovely yoga classes twice. You get a little discount for being a guest at the hotel. My only criticism would be the lunch menu wasn't that great for vegetarians. If the quality and variation of food was improved this I would have rated this hotel as exceptional.”

Manta Raya Hotel

“My recent stay at the Manta Raya Hotel was quite impressive. The staff delivered a high standard of service, ensuring a genuinely luxurious experience. The food served was undeniably delicious, with a diverse menu that catered to various preferences. The rooms were spacious, featuring hammocks and offering stunning views. The design was tasteful, and the overall ambiance was comfortable and welcoming. The hotel's proximity to the beach was a plus, providing a peaceful and uncrowded environment. The pool was large and offered an amazing spot to relax. If you're looking for a hotel that combines a good level of luxury, attentive service, and appealing amenities off the beaten path, the Manta Raya is well-worth considering for an incredible vacation.”

Hotel El Risco

Barra de Cuatunalco S/N, 70902 San Pedro Pochutla, Oax., Mexico

“This was the first stop on my solo trip through Oaxaca. At first I was put in a very small room down on the beach and felt a little uneasy as there wasn’t really any sort of security (also no ac)-asked to be moved to the main hotel area and they were very happy to accommodate and I felt much better up there! The second room was very clean, and had air conditioning! The food service was a little slow but that’s kind of the vibe of the area in general. Was there to relax, and was in no means in a hurry so I was happy to sit on the patio and wait. Very very well kept area, staff was all super friendly and helpful. Also a gentleman from New York (owner perhaps?) that was an absolute pleasure to chat with and was also very helpful as I was still brushing up on my Spanish and feeling a little lost being on my own travels in a new country! Only have wonderful things to say about my experience! :)”

Posada Jois

Chacah 209, H, 70987 Crucecita, Oax., Mexico

“Stayed here for 2 nights and it was a pleasant stay. Hosts are great and were accommodating in many ways. Rooms were in order and clean. It's a posada so they lock up the front door very late at night. Ring the bell and they'll open for you. I also recommend it for 3 reasons. 1. The tours agency across the street is fantastic. My buddy and I did the waterfall tour through them and got a great price. We had a personal chauffeur/guide and our group was a total of 5. On the way up the mountain the guide proved extremely knowledgeable. 2. Zócalo. It is literally 2 short blocks from the Zócalo with its plaza, church, eateries of all price ranges for day and night. Did I mention taxis are also easy to find. 3. Banks, Bars. Walk opposite the zócalo, to the left, and you'll run into a karaoke bar, then a pharmacy, another OXXO!, a bank, and good tacos off the main street.”

Hotel Las Olas

calle del morro 15, Playa Zicatela, 70934 Puerto Escondido, Oax., Mexico

“Great location! Manuel was very accommodating and friendly. Always had a smile on his face. We stayed in room 5(not recommended) which faces the street. The noise from La Esmeralda is quite loud until 1-2am. We had to have the fan on so that it would drown out the noise. The AC was fantastic 😊. Showers were always hit or miss when is comes to hot water as the water is solar powered. Pressure wasn't that great either. Price was very reasonable. You do have to put a deposit down which is standard everywhere which we got back upon checking out. Stayed for a week and had the room serviced twice. All in all pretty run of the mill experience.”

“Food was terrible. My son and I got sick (my son threw up for 5 hours on the plane home after having breakfast) I was still there and was bedridden for one week. Staff did not SPEAK ONE WORD of English. Staff couldn't even read their own menus and they were not helpful and somewhat rude. The food they put in front of us was disgusting. Staff only gave us one roll of toilet paper for one week. $300/night is a joke and a rip off (pool was very small).”
