“We didn't stay here, but my parents did and we visited them while they were there. Its quite a small hotel and the rooms and bathrooms are also, shall we say, compact. As many reviews on Trip Advisor have mentioned, the hanging space for clothes is above a dressing table/ desk so clothes are literally hanging on it if they're long. Not really ideal. You could make do for a couple of nights, but inconvenient for longer stays. No where to store suitcases so they are in the way. Pool area a reasonable size but lacking in any character. Gym was a nice surprise. Small but really nice. The gem is the rooftop bar with 360 degree views. The bar downstairs is pleasant but small. Location is outside of Funchal centre but close enough to walk comfortably enough. Easy access to sea promenade. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops close by.”

“Friendly and very good service. Room floor had soap residue. It was slippery and we could improve it by cleaning it with water. Since we only stayed one night we did not complain. Otherwise a very nice place.”

“I travelled and stayed here with my family (husband and toddler) and our room size and cleanliness was fantastic. The room: We had an enormous bed for when our toddler wanted to join us in the bed but also had her own single bed that was against a wall so we were able to secure using the chairs to avoid her falling off. The facilities: The outdoor pool was perfect for a fresh swim but the indoor pool was nicely heated for the rainy days (we went in January so there were momentarily heavy rain). The spa is great and recommend getting a massage! The breakfast is also packed with a great selection those for special dietary requirements. On our first night, we did eat at the buffet and it had a wide range of selection to cater for my vegetarian husband and my picky eater toddler. The staff and the service: We went on this trip to get away from the January blues for my husband's birthday. I mentioned it to one of the staff and they took this information and surprised my husband with a lovely note and flowers sent to our hotel room on the day of his birthday - thank you for that! Each staff greeted us with a smile and were all very helpful with our toddler. We seamed to be the only family staying in the hotel at the time but we felt that the whole place was family friendly - apart from the reception where there are glass coffee tables as part of the decor. but other that that, if we were to go back to Funchal, Enotel would a high on our option list.”

“Enotel, if you have not heard of them, is a well-established chain of hotels and resorts in Madeira. Enotel Sunset Bay is located right on the seafront at Ponta do Sol with restaurants and bars all within walking distance. The hotel consists of several 'buildings' or rather facades, so I was surprised when I walked in to see a huge lobby. There is also a heated indoor pool next to the reception. For a night stay, the staff was nice and has given me an upgrade with a great balcony overlooking the sea. The room has 2 huge beds, the decor, bathroom, cleanliness, and size all exceeded my expectations. The breakfast is excellent, and we are spoilt for choice. I especially recommend the receptionists who were very friendly and helpful with tips. After a 30km walk from Funchal - it made such a difference to have such friendly personnel and a nice hotel room!”

“Very pleasantly surprised with the quality and friendly/helpful staff at this resort. We took advantage of the pool, dry and steam sauna. The food was very good and the buffet breakfast was plentiful. There is a short walk to the beach but once there, it is amazing!”

“Very nice place, but apartment building 29 smells like a cave. On the last day of the year, we had a thief in the apartment. Everything was locked so he had a key. My wallet and money were missing. There is no safe. We called the police, but there are no cameras.”

“We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff were kind enough to upgrade us free of charge to a bay-view suite, and it made our trip just that much more special. The room was clean, the included breakfasts were excellent, and the area itself is spectacular. Would recommend!”

“enjoyed our stay here and the location is perfect for town and the beach. Breakfast is simple but lots of fresh fruit and breads, cheese and ham. The reception staff were extremely helpful in advice for restaurants and bookings. The rooms have aircon but don’t have a safe, fridge or lift. We didn’t try the pool as we spent all our time at the beach. We hired beach towels for €2pp for our stay which was great as we could change them each day.”

“Wonderful little hotel with excellent staff and food. Only 5 minutes to the beach and a nice pool on site. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel and every meal was excellent. The hotel is close to a bus stop with services into the small city of the island. Hotel also recommended me an great taxi driver.”

“We had an amazing stay in the front left dome with breathtaking views of a sunset and sunrise in the hot tub! The dome was cosy, well furnished and clean. Good internet signal. The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to cook our own food. The host is lovely and easily contacted but gives you privacy too. Thank you Germana for a lovely stay 🏝️”
