“Our experience at La Vista Hotel highlighted a concerning lack of flexibility, especially given the hotel’s 5-star luxury status. On the day of our checkout, we realized we were short by 2,000 yen, required for a cash-only airport shuttle that was due to depart in 10 minutes. We approached the hotel’s customer care for a solution, fully understanding and acknowledging our oversight. Given that our stay at the hotel was valued at over 50,000 yen, we hoped for some level of understanding and assistance. However, the hotel’s response was inflexible and dismissive. Despite multiple pleas for assistance, we were repeatedly told that there were “no options” available. Was the hotel really willing to let us miss our bus over 2,000 yen? This lack of willingness to help in a minor predicament left us stranded and distressed, jeopardizing our timely arrival at the airport. Thankfully, our situation was resolved by the generosity of a fellow passenger on the bus who kindly offered to lend us the missing 2,000 yen — a simple gesture that the hotel seemed incapable of suggesting. Considering that the hotel operates in a service industry and claims to offer premium experiences, we were deeply disappointed by their inability to assist or suggest any form of solution for a concern of such minor financial magnitude. For potential future guests, it’s worth noting that while the amenities may be luxurious, our experience suggests that the hotel may fall short when it comes to understanding and addressing guests’ genuine concerns.”

“Our stay at Otaru Kourakuen was absolutely delightful, making it an ideal choice for a family trip and holiday. The highlight of our experience was undoubtedly the private hot spring in our room, which was simply outstanding and couldn't have been any better. We thoroughly enjoyed the rejuvenating and relaxing baths it provided. The service we received throughout our stay was exceptional, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. From check-in to check-out, their attentiveness and professionalism were commendable. Moreover, the meal arrangements exceeded our expectations, with top-notch culinary offerings that truly impressed us. One minor consideration is that the hotel's location is a bit far from the JR station. However, this wasn't a major concern as taxis and private cars are readily available, making transportation to and from the hotel hassle-free.”

“Location is great, just a short walk from Sapporo station. We opted for a room with 3 beds, so the room has limited space. The bathroom is spacious, and overall, the room is comfortable and clean. Few minutes walk to major convenient stores. Polite and English-proficient staff. Particularly enjoyed the comfortable pyjamas they provided, I wish I could purchase them! Pyjamas and towels were changed daily. The only comment is the breakfast menu; it remained the same throughout our 5-day stay.”

“Loved this place! We arrived late after a multiple-day hike in the Daisetsuzan national park. The hotel was fully booked, so we stayed in the campsite (20 minutes walk from the hotel) and visited the onsen - definitely one of the best I have seen in Japan. Service was top-notch, they even let us use the shuttle service to get to the railway station. My warmest recommendations!”

“This is probably the most comfortable hotel I've stayed in Hokkaido. The in-room washer-dryer is great for those who like cleanliness and want to stay longer. The hot spring bath in the room is also ideal for stress relief. The soundproofing in the corner rooms is quite good. I must praise the room lighting for being very bright, unlike many older hotels that are dim and make it hard to pack at night. The hotel is also very close to the Hakodate Morning Market, where you can enjoy a variety of delicious breakfasts.”

“Rooms are clean, in moderate size. Location is right in front of Asahikawa JR station, and there are many lines of commute bus that direct to all main tourist spots. The only negative image of this place came from this lady staff in the restaurant during breakfast time. She has a very mean attitude to those who does not speak English/Japanese, a bit discriminatory I would say. The lady staff was standing by the exit to guide you. When my parents walked out after eating, she stopped them and call them over to the place where we can return the food tray. She checked all trays while ask them to wait, and found one with a table sign on it. Then she immediately start to blaming on my parents without listening to them nor did she try to communicate patiently. Although this was a total misunderstanding after I checked with my parents and figure out that it was someone else who mistakenly put the sign in the food tray (it’s suppose to be flipped on the table when you finish eating) afterwards. The lady start talking nicely to me because I speak English and a bit Japanese, but her attitude and tone to my parents was absolutely rude.”

“Hotel architecture is beautiful and the proximity to the slopes is fantastic, but service is extremely sub-par. It’s an extreme disappointment and definitely not at par with the Park Hyatt brand — or any true 5-star hotel. Many problems, but here a few to highlights: cleaning was skipped multiple nights in a row, long waits for every meal order / no one comes to get your order / sometimes you’re just ignored waiting in front of a host for 10 minutes!, staff are mostly seasonal workers are not trained or polished. They default to “No” with most simple requests and cannot speak to the menus they’re serving. These and other small problems that arose in our stay make me very hesitant to recommend the hotel without some strong caveats”

I realised I lost my wed ring after check out and flew to Tokyo. I called the hotel’s staff, they found it and send from Sapporo to my Hotel in Tokyo. I would like to say Thank you very much. “Excellent location to get to food places or clubs. It's about 10 minutes walk to Susukino station. The rooms are clean and you have all the things you need. They offer spray, cause BBQ will make your clothes smell a lot. There is no daily cleaning, because this is the "green" approach. However you get clean towels every day.”

“There are many places in Obihiro that sell their hot springs, but as soon as you step in here, you can tell that the water is fresh, or rather, it's surprising how much hot springs there are. The water is poured from the spring source right below the bathtub without touching the air. The hot water was perfect, the bathroom and dressing room were both clean and comfortable, and I couldn't find anything to criticize. If you are stopping by Obihiro City or staying at a hotel where the hot spring water is pumped from somewhere else and circulated, you should definitely come here. It's a 10 minute walk from the station and has a parking lot.”

“A nice New looking hotel with a decent toilet/bath setup. It had decent free Wifi. The staff were friendly. Only issues: The free bar closes at 9PM 😭 The morning complimentary buffet is PACKED. There was not enough seats so we had to take our food back to our room. Also the buffet food was very sparse when we arrived e.g 4 wieners left . That didn't stop me from being a greedy git and grabbing plenty of Chocolate and plain Croissants, One of the other guests looked at me as i grabbed a lot as there was nothing else to my fancy 🤣 I wanted to go into the Onsen but I have to keep my hand wrap dry (broken finger) My Wife and I will definitely return, the next time we stay in Kushiro.”
