“A great hostel by Australian standards. Roomy and tall pods with enough space around the mattress to keep a few belongings close by. Each pod has a privacy curtain, power socket, light and a couple of hooks for hanging your jacket/towel/handbag. The mattress was comfortable and they provide bedding, a towel and soap. I stayed during a heatwave and the room was a comfortable temperature for sleeping. The lockers are big enough for a backpack and a few other small items. There was enough space in the room for everyone to leave their suitcases against the wall. The showers were clean and spacious with good hot eater. Kitchen was good enough for basic cooking. Wifi worked fine. My flight arrived late and they were kind enough to let me check in late (the caretaker let me in and provided a temporary key to use until the front desk opened for check in). The only issue was that you can hear the music from a nearby nightclub very loudly until around 3am. It's loud enough that earplugs don't block it out. That said, the location is great - it's central and close to the train station.”

“A decently roomy pub with a whiff of history, 1888. Downstairs bar with space to roll; upstairs there's a bar with all the choices, dining room, smaller bar room, and an outside balcony rather undersized but nice on the right day. How good are the staff? *Veeery*. Nothing is a problem. Upstairs food is nicely prepared, fresh and tasty. All in all, a royal pub indeed!”

Especially last night, I was in trouble because I lost my room key, but the staff gladly said it was okay. It's close to walking from City Hall and it's a big road that's safe to come back at night, so the location is also good.”

“Delightful little hotel. Stayed over a week and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Sydney. Receptionist staff absolutely wonderful. Everything about the hotel was lovely although housekeeping could do better - sheets weren’t changed at all (sheets in the photos were there everyday), bedside lamps needed dusting and had to remove hair from shower outlet to get water flowing into the drain. Terrific security and we appreciated the pastries and fruit in the (stunningly attractive) reception area.”

“Absolutely stunning service, very kind and caring staff. Even though it was one of the staff’s second shift, she did an amazing job and had incredible service. The bar manager was amazing and he really made us feel at home. Being from Tasmania it reminded us of our local pub, a “country pub in the city” it sure was. Very relaxed and great vibe all around. We will be returning on our next trip to Sydney!”

“I have been coming here a lot the last few weeks with family who are on holidays and the have enjoyed the pub the location and the food has been great too . The pints of Guinness have been very tasty Now The bad - Last night I took my mum for a dinner and some drinks (The food was great) The Guinness was very bad ! I told the girl behind the bar it wasn’t good gave her back half a pint . Thought it might have just been a bad pour and ordered another . I had two mouthfulls and couldn’t drink anymore . It was very flat , pint had no head just very poor overall Some lessons on pouring could really benefit them When I told the girl behind the bar about it she was rude and frankly didn’t care Noting she could do about it as she said . Very disappointing and very poor service/customer care Two pints wasted and money thrown on the floor We enjoyed coming here until this happened last night , we might stay clear in future unfortunately.”

Everything regarding the checking in process was very clearly communicated. Most important for us though was how safe we felt there, especially as young travellers.”
