“Went here on 2 separate days for the stag, for different activities. The 2 hosts were great on both days and kept us active with different variations of each game. Bubble Football: Classic take down to get used to the 'mechanisms' of the ball - a literal last man standing. British Bulldog and having 2 people in the middle. Everyone else has to run to each side. If you fall, you join. Last man standing wins. Then the classic Bubble Football and the 2 keepers didn't have the bubbles. Dodgeball: Classic rules, but if you catch it, everyone that is out gets to join back in. Classic rules, but if you catch it, the person that throws it is out. You can bring one person back. Cops and robbers style, if you are out you go to the penalty area and can catch the ball to get back in.”

“Lovely place to come for a walk or to chill out for a bit. It was popular when I visited, but wasn't too busy such that you could still walk around and find empty benches (though it was a bitter January day, so I can imagine during summer this location may be very busy). Plenty of ducks and geese to feed (please research food that is good for them - no bread!). It is very easy to get here from the railway station, though there is also a small car park available.”

“Cant knock this place in the slightest. Had a party here for my 13yr old and 9 other kids with 5 adults. We all joined in and had a blast. For the life of me can not remember the hosts name, youngish lad top guy made the kids an our experience that much more special.”

“Best gym in Wigan. I've been a member of several in the area, however, I do feel that this place strikes the best balance for equipment/quality/atmosphere/price. . There are always plenty of machines available and the range of space on offer to carry out floor work is by far the best around. . The atmosphere is great and the staff are very friendly and approachable if you need them. . The sauna is a great addition and handy when you need a detox.”

“Been a member of a good few gyms now and this one hands down is the best in Wigan. Particularly since its had its renovations. I'd take the opportunity to say there's a few aging bits here and there that could do with a good scrub or the odd tile replaced etc but overall really well kept gym.”

“Want to work on your short game and don’t want to spend it on a range this is a good option. £16 for the 18 par 3 cse. It’s a little rough around the edges but the greens run daily true and nice views and tree lined. The members and staff are super friendly. The signage needs taking down and new putting in. Wet in areas but to be excepted give the recent weather. I will try and play the proper 9 hole next”

“I stopped coming to this gym about 1 year ago because it got too cramped and the equipment was getting old. I joined again recently and was amazed to see the renovation. Brilliant gym and staff. I would like to request to increase the timings, perhaps even make it 24 hours, that would just be perfect.”

“Lousy gym... my previous gym was also puregym, the one in Salford. I was paying £16.99 a month the gym is great, big, well equipped, machines in good condition, very clean. this Eccles puregym is a shame, very small, we cannot train well as machines are crowded due to lack of space, the machines are in a sorry state.... some of them make a lot of noise... there is no variety of machines at all, equipment is very deteriorated. changing rooms/shower/locker very small. lack of cleanliness. Bad gym, you should at least lower the high price of £22.99, it's not fair to pay that monthly fee for a gym with such lousy services.”

“I've been a member just over 12 months at the Village gym and have to say it is a great place to train and has excellent facilities, the membership is good value for money, especially if you take advantage of the classes that are available, included in your membership. Attending the classes has been a lifestyle change, making new friends, motivating each other when the going gets tough. The staff are friendly and go above and beyond to support you in your fitness journey. Attending personal training and classes by Charlotte Robinson and Pete Blacklock have encouraged and helped me set and achieve goals I would have never thought I could do. I am very happy with the results.”

“The gym itself here is nice and modern but customer service wise it isn't the best. I asked to change my membership from gym to swim on the 1st. I couldn't I had to close one and start another which is fine but on day 2 of the 30 day notice my log in was blocked so I can't access the gym at all now and email communication stopped so I'm paying for a service I never received. I won't be making the new membership now as I don't trust them to let me in. My log in won't work on the site via PC or phone yet my partners works fine on the same phone/PC.”

“Really clean modern gym. Great indoor pools and sauna. Weight equipment is modern and undamaged. Indoor bar and seating area is really nice facility. My only gripe would be the outdoor pools despite being heated are still a little on the cool side and it was like that went I first went 4 years ago and again the other week…”
