Anna needs to be a junior stylist at this point. She’s blown out my hair a couple of times and it looks amazing. IGK is not cheap, but you will get quality work and professionalism. Highly recommend these ladies!”

“I recently walked into a local barber shop. I’ve passed by it a few times and really needed a cut; it seemed like they were experienced barbers who would have no issues with a fade. I was able to get into a chair right away, but then a noticeable language barrier emerged when I sat down, making me consider leaving. Since I had a feeling I was not going to like the result but felt awkward and with the cape already on, I proceeded despite my reservations. The language challenge persisted, hindering effective communication of my preferences. Though I initially requested a high fade, I found it challenging to convey my expectations, leading to a different outcome. The final result significantly differed from what I envisioned, no fade and the beard lineup without a straight blade (at $60, I expected a cleaner lineup). Despite the challenges, I acknowledge that she did her best. In summary, at $60, the overall experience definitely fell short of expectations.I suggest elsewhere if you’re looking for a fade, this seems like more like one of those places where you tell them what numbers you want on the sides and top .”

“Let me start by saying i was a hair model for root touch up. Maybe a regular customer would get different treatment, which hasn’t been the case in most salons but maybe here they do. Reached out to Noah through an ad on salon apprentice. He was very responsive and i got an appt for the next day Sunday at 1045am. When i came in i was greeted and taken my jacket. Then i sat down with Noah and the teacher, she asked for my name and tried to say it a couple times and the last time she said it she said “good enough” LOL. WTH! I understand my name isn’t easy but first time I’ve heard that. The teacher’s demeanor was ok, but not the friendliest. They went through what they are doing with my hair, and to get color throughout my hair it would be an additional $10 but just my roots it would be base price. He colored my hair fairly quickly. While i sat there another stylist put her items in my area (large lemon water, glasses, hair spray). I was never offered a drink (water, coffee, tea) and i didn’t see any outlets on the area in front of me, luckily i brought a charger for my phone. And i had the color for 40-45min, probably a bit long IMO but i didn’t time it. The best part of my experience is Maribel, the lady who washed my hair, amazing, so kind, and excellent experience. After that, Noah blew out my hair, he asked me where i part my hair but didn’t ask if i wanted to straight or wavy. Blow out was well done. At the end he also told me he was going to take a picture and didn’t ask me. I was fine with taking a picture but would’ve been nice to be asked. And when i paid i was told cash only which i had but wasn’t told that ahead of time. Overall good experience but those little things would make it more enjoyable. Again, maybe bc i was a model- hope they are more attentive to their customers because I’m sure they’re paying a pretty penny.”

“BAR REVIEW ONLY. Came here for apps and drinks Sunday afternoon—wasn’t too many people so we got a high top in the bar area. The restaurant is decorated with holiday decorations, it’s so pretty! The Artichoke & Crab Dip for 2 was pretty good! Their French Fries were good as well. For cocktails, we tried The Gatsby Royale and Dorian’s Temptation—everyone enjoyed it. Service was great too!”

“QC NY Spa is a spa on the northern part of Governors Island overlooking the financial district. You buy packages for time and massages are extra, but they have multiple floors of different experiences. You start by getting ready in a locker room where you can store your stuff, then make your way through the amenities. They have almost 10 different sauna style experiences, as well as an aquatic level with a few water related experiences. Outside are heated pools with underwater music or massage chairs with great views of the city. The staff here are incredible, super nice and helpful. There are towels, scrubs, and directions scattered everywhere. They have food and drinks downstairs which are priced a bit high for the portion sizes, but things like the tiramasu are delicious. You can bring your phone around or even a book to read and relax, although I recommend leaving them behind while on the bottom aquatic level as it's very wet and steamy. Overall a great experience and the views from the pool alone are worth the money. Would definitely go again in the future.”
