Wairere Falls
4.8
( 16 reviews )

Goodwin Road, Okauia 3391, New Zealand

“Wonderful place. A decent trek, with quite an accessible incline to the lookout, with a unique environment of large boulders on the track and in the stream. Going to the top was quite steep but not a problem, some of the steps maybe a bit too thin but I had no issues personally. The top of the falls was stunning; amazing views, very shallow stream so able to wade into the water. Would definitely go again.”

Mt. Taranaki

( 16 reviews )

Taranaki 4391, New Zealand

“Awesome hike, attempted climbing the summit in Mid Nov. but unfortunately there were still some snowy parts at about 2,100 vertical metres and we didn't go any further because of not being equipped properly. Some parts are pretty steep but technically easy. Just be careful at the scree field, which is very exhausting. The first part until the hut is very well maintained. After that comes a steep section with stairs and after that it's just a scree field which is the hardest part of it. Definitely will come back and attempt it again in the summer. The landscape is unique and breathtaking. So much to see. One of the highlights of our NZ trip even if we weren't able to hike all the way up. Oh and the clouds went by very fast. Weather changes suddenly so be prepared for everything and take your time.”

Karekare Beach
4.7
( 8 reviews )

2 Karekare Road, Huia, Karekare 0772, New Zealand

“Beautiful place to spend a whole day! So much wildlife, waves and more! If you are a fan of The Piano movie from 1993 you will be amazed :))”

Shine Falls
4.8
( 16 reviews )

653 Heays Access Road, Putorino 4181, New Zealand

“Beautiful best on a hot day. The water is nice and cold. And the eels are friendly”

Red Rocks - Pariwhero
4.7
( 8 reviews )

Ōwhiro Bay, Wellington 6023, New Zealand

“Quite the hike out to the red rocks....worth it. But the shining gem was hiking all the way to Sinclair Head and catching the fur seals basking in the sunshine. Not for the faint of heart... 3 miles out and then back, over sand and rocks, some water hazards and steep, rocky climbs! But the breathtaking views and seals make up for any struggle to get there!”

Cullen Point Lookout
4.5
( 10 reviews )

Havelock 7281, New Zealand

“A short distance from Havelock along the Queen Charlotte Scenic Drive to Picton, is a spectacular view that overlooks Pelorus Sound and the town of Havelock. Less than a 15 minute walk to the summit.”

Franz Josef Glacier
4.6
( 16 reviews )

West Coast 7886, New Zealand

“Excellent place to visit with stunning scenery of ice, snow, rivers and towing mountains. We got the chance to heli hike and the walk around on top of the glacier exploring ice caves and seeing the seracs, crevases and ice mounds up close was amazing.”

Baylys Beach
4.6
( 10 reviews )

Sea View Road, Baylys Beach 0377, New Zealand

“An awesome place for trekking along the beach by either motorbike car or foot. This wild west coast beach during low tide offers about 100m of compact sand for easy driving. if you don't have a 4 wd drive, I suggest you are off the beach 90 minutes before high tide, as the soft sand further up the beach is very difficult to traverse in 2 wd. deflating tyre pressure to 15psi helps with traction on the soft sand, you'll just need to pump the up when you get back! If you do get stuck, you won't often have to wait long for someone to pass by who will likely stop and pull you out. Traveling with others is the best way to experience this and remember some walks talkies.”

Lake Mangamahoe
4.7
( 10 reviews )

Taranaki 4371, New Zealand

“What a fantastic place to spend some time. We drove to the carpark at the end of the road, and walked up to the look out. The look out is only a easy five minute walk away. From the look out you have some great views out over part of the lake. We then walked down through some beautiful native bush to the lakes edge and spent some time admiring the quietness of the place. The only sounds that could be herd were from the ducks and geese. A nice stroll around part of the lake and we ended up at a very nice picnic area. The picnic area has some very big and interesting Japanese cedar trees. A short walk back to the carpark from the picnic area. Unfortunately there are no toilets near this picnic area. The toilets are located further down the road. Driving back out we noticed a fishing jetty, where you can try your luck at fly fishing although you will need a fresh water fishing license. Also there are mountain biking trails and horse ridding trails though the forest. Unfortunately we didn't have time to do the lake circuit walk but will hopefully come back some time.”

Karioi Summit Track
4.8
( 8 reviews )

596 Whaanga Road, Raglan 3297, New Zealand

“Amazing views and enjoyable climb - was quite challenging in places with chains installed to help you climb up and down so good level of fitness required. Really fun for those looking for an adventure and spotted some fabulous birds including Fantails and a bellbird! Took us nearly four hours there and back from Whaanga Road Car Park to Lookout.”

Fox Glacier South Side Walk ( Start Point )
4.4
( 16 reviews )

Haast Highway, Westland National Park 7886, New Zealand

“Two hour walk. Forests are nice, but views are so-so. Helicopters are flying above the head all the time. Worst of all, there are no toilet — neither during the hike parking. Gotta drive to nearby town to find the closest one It’s unfortunate that after all the travel you can’t really see the glacier. All official trails end far away. And they don’t fix the one that gets close to the glacier for years. My take — local helicopter companies pay kickbacks to municipality to not to fix the trail. Not worth driving long distances to see this.”
