Dog Mountain, Home Of Stephen Huneck Gallery

Closed until 10:00 AM

143 Parks Rd, St Johnsbury, VT 05819, United States

“The grounds are beautiful & serene; dogs run off-leash & you can sense their pure enjoyment. The chapel is designed with dog themes, including the weathervane & its a perfect place to see & feel the memorialized tributes of all the beloved furry friends that impacted their families. Although this place brought me to tears, it is a peaceful & soothing setting to sit & reflect. Also, check out the gift shop with a touch of whimsy featuring artwork, crafts, clothing, etc from local artists, you'll definitely find something - even for cat lovers too. Check out the bathroom even if you don't need to use it!”

Plenty of Adirondack chairs, picnic tables, picnic grills. Firewood available at the summit for those camping and renting the summit lodge. For camping there are 7 tent sites and 3 lean-to sites. Dog friendly (must be on a leash). Wear appropriate hiking shoes!”

Quechee Gorge
4.7
( 8 reviews )

Hartford, VT 05001, USA

“Excellent natural wonder in Quechee, Vermont. If you park at the visitor center- walk back out to the highway and get a view from the bridge. There’s no sidewalk on the visitor center side so be careful. Next, head down into the gorge, there’s a short trail through the woods from the visitors center, and then it’s downhill for 15-20 minutes until you reach the end where you can walk out into the gorge and look back towards the bridge. The view on the way down is mostly obscured behind the fence and dense tree growth otherwise. On the other side of the road from the visitor center, there’s another trail following the river back to the dam. Good views of the dam but, again most of the river is obscured and behind a fence.”

“Stayed in a spacious tent campsite. This served as our base camp for 2 days so we could visit attractions near Stowe, VT. Flush toilets and showers available. Only downside was it was close to highway and we could hear traffic but was quiet at night.”

“Neat 1930s CCC park office, nice and clean campgrounds, plenty of trail hiking (AT passes through), trail to "Thundering Falls" is easy to moderate in places through woods, lakeside, forest and nit very long to the falls. Worth it. Nice ranger.”

Button Bay State Park

5 Button Bay State Park Rd, Vergennes, VT 05491, United States

“Absolutely gorgeous! The hiking trail to Lake Champlain was so woodsy and forested and the view at the shoreline is worth it. A gentle walk maybe 2.5 to 3 miles round trip.”
