Hawn State Park
4.8
( 16 reviews )

12096 Park Dr #8121, New Offenburg, MO 63670, United States

“Went to Hawn state park October 14, 2023. Had a great time hiking the pickle creek trail, the trail was well marked. I got to see cool rock formations, giant boulders and small waterfalls and cascades. I see why a lot of people like this park. I’ll have to come back here to do the whispering pine trail. Highly recommend visiting!”

Weldon Spring Conservation Area
4.7
( 8 reviews )
Open until 10:00 PM

6990 S Missouri 94, St Charles, MO 63304, United States

“I love it here. So peaceful. The place is huge, so you can go multiple times and still have all kinds of places to visit. The roads are mostly all grave, so be prepared for that for your car. The place is extremely well maintained. There are out houses everywhere, but also actual bathrooms in the front next to the bait shop.”

4600 S Missouri 94, Augusta, MO 63332, United States

“Awesome park with trails and tons of campsites. Dog friendly. Many varieties including primitive, RV, walk ins, sites with posts for hammocks, and more. There are various camping amenities like a camp kitchen, bathrooms, showers, compost toilets, playgrounds, and others. The park has a pretty waterfront area and you can fish. There are scenic bluff overlooks. There's a meeting facility you can rent. Something for everyone. And it's close to several charming small towns and wineries.”

Shaw Nature Reserve

307 Pinetum Loop Rd, Gray Summit, MO 63039, United States

“Shaw Nature Reserve has become one of my favorite spots to visit at least once or twice a year. With its breathtaking scenic hiking trails, I'm always amazed by the abundance of native plants and trees that surround me. Walking down to the Meramec River offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. If you're looking for a place to unwind and reconnect with nature, Shaw Nature Reserve is definitely worth checking out.”

Springfield Conservation Nature Center
4.8
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 08:00 AM

4601 S Nature Center Way, Springfield, MO 65804, United States

“This is a fantastic spot. There is something for everyone. I saw humans from 1 to 80 enjoying the nature center and trails. So many interactive exhibits for kids and the trails are very accessible. Picnic areas available though no food is provided on site. Beautiful and well kept trails with fantastic trees, flowers, and wildlife. I could honestly spend the day there and the best part…it’s free of charge. Yep-#free. Helpful and friendly staff are there to guide you and answer questions. Truly a special place.”

Lost Hill Park
4.7
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 06:00 AM

4705 N Farm Rd 151, Springfield, MO 65803, United States

“Nice park. The walks are long if you want them to be. Signing could be a little better but nice place to let kiddos ride their bikes and take the dog on a walk. If you just continue on it does not loop....be mindful of that with little ones. The caves are interesting enough with kids as is the river with the fish and turtles. We went in fall and it was beautiful with all the color changing leaves. Definitely a diamond in the rough.”

Graham Cave State Park
4.5
( 16 reviews )

217 State Hwy TT, Danville, MO 63361, United States

“We really enjoyed it. The place was very clean, kept up and information stations very helpful and educational. The paved walk was short and easy, the little nature trail that looped us back around was very pretty and easy as well.”

Grand Gulf State Park
4.6
( 16 reviews )

State Hwy W, Koshkonong, MO 65692, United States

“Very nice place for a day hike or to just hike around for a couple hours. The trails are well done and clean. They have picnic tables to have lunch on and a couple lookouts for taking pictures. There is also a large staircase to go down into the grand gulf. Overall a very good place to spend an afternoon.”

Castor River Shut-ins
4.8
( 8 reviews )
Open until 10:00 PM

Fredericktown, MO 63645, United States

“AMAZING PLACE. I've lived in Missouri all of my life and I had just learned about this place. It was so beautiful. It was like Johnson Shut-Ins but maybe a little bigger and the rocks are a pink granite. The water was clear. There was not a large amount of people there but the water was pretty cold. The path is a little more challenging than Johnson Shut-Ins but not too difficult. There was plenty of parking.”

Nro Canoe Rental & Campground
4.4
( 8 reviews )

171 Nro Rd, Lebanon, MO 65536, United States

“Come EARLY if you want a good camping spot! We had a great time floating this last weekend, spent 3 nights camping as well. Parts of the flowing creeks were deep enough to swim in even. Definitely will come again. Just perhaps on a less busy day. Things to know: 1. Nearest town is 25-30 minutes away 2. There are two camp stores. One by the river the other on the top (where you need to check in) 3. It's pricey! $8 for large bag of ice (same price for the wood). Definitely $$ for drinks as well 4. CROWDED at the campsites Fridays and Saturday nights. By 11am Sunday nearly the whole camp was cleared out. Wish we floated on Sunday instead. It was peaceful compared to the chaos of the last two nights 5. There are flushing toilets and showers at the front of the campsite. Near the back you'll have to use the portable restrooms 6. Wear shoes, it's rocky 7. HIDE YOUR FOOD at night, the possums and wild animals at night were no joke. Definitely regret leaving out the marshmallows. Ha ha”

Smithville Lake Of Clay County
4.7
( 8 reviews )

17201 Paradesian, Smithville, MO 64089, United States

“The camping is awful at Smithville Lake, we go here all the time and don't want anyone else to go. Because then it would be busy. So don't go. They *DON'T* have really nice campground, and they *DON'T* have easy access or great bathrooms, they *DON'T* have beautiful paved trails for biking or walking, they *DON'T* have a great lake to paddle board or hang out on a beach. So yeah... Don't go. It's *AWFUL*.”

Mingo National Wildlife Refuge
4.7
( 10 reviews )
Closed until 09:00 AM

24279 MO-51, Puxico, MO 63960, United States

“The hike is relatively short along the boardwalk, but offers some great views within the actual swamp. During the spring and summer you will see plenty of wildlife such as snakes and aquatic insects, and the fall and winter offers fantastic bird watching opportunities. The drive around the refuge costs $3 per vehicle but is worth it to see the natural state of southeast Missouri.”

Don Robinson State Park
4.7
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 07:00 AM

9275 Byrnesville Rd, Cedar Hill, MO 63016, United States

“Went to check it out. Has two walking/hiking paths. One a bit over 4 miles and, the other is almost 2.5 miles. We weren’t physically ready for either one. Plus, we got there a bit late to start such walks. Seeing the house on site was really nice. Nice to see they’re renovating it. Asking for funds to do such a project. Lovely views! Wow!”

Busiek State Forest And Wildlife Area
4.7
( 8 reviews )

Highlandville, MO 65669, United States

“Went today after hearing they had a free outdoor shooting range, the park was beautiful and I had a great time on the range. Not sure how it is everyday but it was kinda busy but everyone was extremely friendly and I had a lot of fun”

Rockwoods Reservation

( 10 reviews )
Closed until 09:00 AM

2751 Glencoe Rd, Wildwood, MO 63038, United States

“Arrived to the Rock Quarry Trailhead at 9am this morning. Wasn't terribly crowded. Hiked the Rock Quarry, Trail Among The Trees, and the Lime Kiln Trail. Not too many people and the woods were just beautiful. Saw my first frost flowers ever!!! Will be back in the Spring.”

Greensfelder Park
4.6
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 08:00 AM

4515 Hencken Rd, Pacific, MO 63069, United States

“Greensfelder is beautiful, so I hate making a semi bad review. BUT the trails are not marked correctly with how many miles it is and the markers for the trails are so confusing it is easy to get lost, which is not the worst of it. The Deer Run Trail is so confusing that my experienced hiking Dad got lost and went an extra 2 miles than the trail said, it got dark and it was to a point where it could have been scary. If elderly hikers wanted to do a short trail and end up getting lost or going an extra 2 miles that could be horrible for them. I think this park needs to rethink their trail markers and make them more clear, and also how many miles they say a trail is.”

Round Spring Campground
4.6
( 8 reviews )

MO-19, Eminence, MO 65466, United States

“If you're new to the Missouri and Current River area, you'll definitely want to camp here. Or put in the river to float. Access is easy. The camping spots are well-marked and clean. The bathrooms and showers are fantastic.”
