“Nice park. Lots of wildlife. Camper cabins were decent. Terribly uncomfortable beds. I recommend an air mattress. Park staff was friendly. The hiking trails were good. You can't swim here the river isn't safe for swimming.”

“I’ve been coming to this campground since I was young and it still holds up after all these years. A clean and well kept campground with lots to offer. I loved exploring the bike trails and being able to walk to the bog from our site. The bathrooms were clean and stocked. It’s an added bonus to be close to town just in case.”

Lake Carlos State Park
4.6
( 8 reviews )

2601 County Rd 38 NE, Carlos, MN 56319, United States

“Situated on Lake Carlos, this is a busy little state park due to its popularity for water craft on the lake on which it sits. Although mostly geared towards the water, there is plenty to do here on land as well. While not extensive, there are several hikes of varying lengths. Highly recommend the Prairie Pothole trail for fantastic views of restored tall-grass prairie - something vary rarely seen in MN now days. The picnic area at the beach is also very nice and well shaded. A good place to be if you need a break from the sun and heat.”

1410 161st St, Luverne, MN 56156, United States

“Had a fantastic time camping here. Large campground, but it was quiet and peaceful the entire time. Spot 60E was great because it was right by both bathrooms, the dump station, water, and dumpster. We went on the north hiking trails the first day and had a blast. Saw many different animals and even an owl!! Next day we did the southern part of the hiking trail. It was very long and there wasn't too much to see except the prarie and the large stone area.”

Eagle Cliff Campground
4.5
( 16 reviews )

35455 MN-16, Lanesboro, MN 55949, United States

“We really enjoyed our first camping trip in 8 years. My 3 teens lived being by the Root River and catching fish, crayfish and just having a great time. My wife and I thought the campground bathrooms were very nice and cleaned often. The showers are nice and will cost .25 cents for 4 minutes, no issue, just bring quarters. My whole family went tubing on Saturday and had a great time going slowly down the Root River. The office staff were kind and friendly throughout our stay. We even forgot the poles to our tent, and they provided us with options that allowed us to stay and enjoy our trip. My family highly recommends staying at Eagle Cliff campground! Aaron and Family”

George Crosby Manitou State Park
4.7
( 16 reviews )
Closed until 08:00 AM

7616 Co Hwy 7, Finland, MN 55603, United States

“Very nice backpacking and hiking to be had in this state park, all sites here are backpacking campsites. I was at site 14 and it was very nice and had a fire ring and you could for 3 tents here and access down to the river was very easy there was also a toilet near camp. I believe just about every campsite has their own toilet for use. The manitou river trail is a nice trail lots of up amd down hill, it is quite over grown and lots of fallen trees so be prepared to climb over some logs. Other than that its got some nice scenery.”

Rice Lake State Park
4.4
( 8 reviews )

8485 Rose St, Owatonna, MN 55060, United States

“Some State Parks offer excitement, some provide limitless potential for recreational activities, some are great for backpacking, while others are iconic in their history. The uniqueness that each park provides the great state of Minnesota is a testament to the importance of the preservation of our land. So what does Rice Lake State Park offer? The answer, is restorative relaxation. History has been aligning this land to become a place of peace since the Ojibwa people first inhabited it, farming wild rice from the lake, with rumors they would sink their birch bark canoes in the lake before heading south for winter. Unfortunately, the lake can no longer support the growth of wild rice with runoff silting all but a small patch of growth on the North Central side of the lake. Today cattails surround the shore, providing home to the impressive abundance of waterfowl that the lake is now managed for. The land then had its time as farm field and Isaac Walton campground before becoming designated as a State Park in 1963. Now the park provides a variety of camping options; non-electric, electric, cart-in, walk-in, group, and canoe-in sites, so there's a spot for anyone. Be mindful however that, Reservations are REQUIRED and Group, Walk-ins, Cart-ins, and Canoe sites DO NOT have access to the showers as they are considered Primitive Sites and the age of the building's plumbing cannot support all campsite areas. Periodically events are held by the local astronomy club or Friends of RLSP group. With a gorgeous Candlelight Walk held in Jan/Feb along the frosty trails. Canoe and kayak rentals are available during office hours. Check in with the staff during office hours to get helpful info on events, kids activities like Jr. Ranger books, and trail and lake conditions. If you're looking for thrills and frills, I would suggest to look elsewhere. Rice Lake State Park is a quintessential example of peace and quiet. So bring your birding kit or stop by the office to borrow one of theirs, and come enjoy some Happy Trails ✌️”

Carley State Park
4.5
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 08:00 AM

50366 Wabasha County Rd 4, Plainview, MN 55964, United States

“A small park but it packs a punch. The wildflowers were fantastic, including Virginia Blue bells, rue anenome, nodding trillium, phlox, violet, columbine and more. Some of the stepping stones were underwater and the creek was running fast. The hiking club trail is definitely the star trail of this park. There was a lovely picnic ground and camping (non-electric). This is really close to Whitewater State Park, one of my favorite parks in Minnesota, and so can be visited as part of a camping trip staying either here or at Whitewater.”

Lake Louise State Park
4.4
( 10 reviews )

12385 766th Ave, Le Roy, MN 55951, United States

“Great mix of wood, prairie, & riparian landscape with well-kept trails & good signage. If you like easy hikes & nature photography, this is a great spot. I can't speak to the camping. Obviously, the car fee means it's $5-7 a day, unless you have a year pass for MN state parks.”
