OH-278, Zaleski, OH 45698, United States

“Good hiking spot. Campgrounds are well maintained & have outhouses & water available. West & North loops have a decent bit of bush whacking & could use some maintenance. Southern loop is the most scenic, recommend this most of all.”

“Love having this park in my backyard. Excellent for birding, walking, or running. Dogs not allowed on loop by pond. There is a 0.7mi loop that you can bring them on, but beware ticks!”

Aullwood Audubon Center And Farm
4.8
( 10 reviews )
Open until 05:00 PM

1000 Aullwood Rd, Dayton, OH 45414, United States

“This place is so cool. I'd love to come back in the spring or fall. The trolls are such an amazing sight to see. We unfortunately weren't able to explore the farm because of how late it was when we arrived, but still enjoyed ourselves. The women working in the visitor center were nice and so was their dog.”

Clear Creek Metro Park
4.8
( 8 reviews )
Open until 07:00 PM

23233 Clear Creek Rd, Rockbridge, OH 43149, United States

“Great walking choice if you're looking for an option with stable footing and minimal tripping opportunities. I walked about 6 miles for exercise and enjoyed views of the river and cliffs along the way. I only wish I'd discovered this spot sooner in our week. Even my interaction with the park ranger (Steve, I think) was helpful and friendly. Great place to walk and looked like there were many excellent hiking trails, picnicing spots and even fishing to boot.”

Rockbridge State Nature Preserve
4.7
( 8 reviews )

11475 Dalton Rd, Rockbridge, OH 43149, United States

“The rock bridge is really beautiful and worth the walk to get to it! Depending on how much of an incline you want and the range of your group, this can be moderately difficult at times. But, the trail is wide enough and quiet enough to move at the speed you need to. Highly recommend!”

The Wilderness Center
4.9
( 8 reviews )
Open until 04:30 PM

9877 Alabama Ave SW, Wilmot, OH 44689, United States

“Very nice place! They have several walking trails through the woods, a planetarium, a rock garden, and a place for kids to play that is really neat! Plenty of places to have a picnic, either on the ground with a blanket or by using one of their many picnic tables. The grounds are very well kept. I'll be back in the Spring for sure!”

Scioto Trail State Park
4.6
( 8 reviews )
Open until 11:00 PM

144 Lake Rd, Chillicothe, OH 45601, United States

“The trails here are great, and are not overly-crowded. You can get a lot of solitude time here. I particularly liked the red trail, which has some very nice overlooks. The orange trail was not marked very well and has lots of off-shoots, so that one can be a challenge to make sure you're still on the right path. Some of the trails do have some good inclines, so beware of that. The fire tower is also super cool, but they have the very top part closed off. You can still get an okay view from the highest section they let you get up to.”

Beaver Creek State Park
4.7
( 8 reviews )
Open until 11:00 PM

12021 Echo Dell Rd, East Liverpool, OH 43920, United States

“Had a great time as usual hunting during deer season around the horseman camp area. Which is across the sprucevale Rd from the pretty boy Floyd field”

Bedford Reservation
4.7
( 8 reviews )
Open until 11:00 PM

18753 Egbert Rd, Bedford, OH 44146, United States

“Beautiful forest with small stream and waterfalls running through it. Not crowded typically. Easy to follow, well marked trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. There are paved trails close to the road and dirt trails in the woods. A large staircase takes you down to Bride Veil Falls. Kids are often in the river - beware the rocks are VERY slippery!!! Noise from roads and highway the only negative. Clean and well maintained. Thank you Metro Parks!!!”

Kiser Lake State Park
4.4
( 8 reviews )

4889 OH-235, Conover, OH 45317, United States

“This is a nice state park, and they have clearly put some money into making it such. One thing that is really going for it is there are large signs for trail heads that are easily seen while driving on the main road, which is definitely not something you get at other Ohio state parks. There is a playground, a basketball court, lots of restrooms, and lots of campgrounds. There is a marina and a camp store that open/closed seasonally. They are also currently doing construction, so they are continuing to improve this already very nice recreational area. The trails here are great, I'd come back to this one.”

Orchard Hills Park
4.8
( 8 reviews )
Open until 09:30 PM

11340 Caves Rd, Chesterland, OH 44026, United States

“Another beautiful metro park (albeit it in Geauga County). We didn't find site/trails info but someone there told us about the nearby trail head. We took the shortest trail & observed several connections or forks in the trail to more extensive trailing. The largest shelter had multiple picnic tables under cover + we spotted a few other tables on our walk - which they've provided many benches along the way (some without shade) for respite or to enjoy nature. There's a nice looking children's playground there, also. I should have taken more pics...”

Shawnee State Park
4.5
( 10 reviews )
Open until 11:00 PM

1539 Columbus Rd SW, Granville, OH 43023, United States

“Beautiful place to visit. I love the wild flowers and butterfly sanctuary they provide. My kids love the creek and it has a shaded trail. There is a place to eat under shelter. I'm so grateful I found this gem.”

Arcola Creek Park
4.6
( 16 reviews )
Open until 11:00 PM

941 Dock Rd, Madison, OH 44057, United States

“This park is a hidden gem in North Madison. It has a short and well maintained trail to a small unguarded beach. A few picnic tables and a wide open field to set your children loose on overlook Lake Erie. To the right of that is a short walk to the beach. I haven’t seen anyone swim here, but I’ve heard people do. The beach is mostly made up of a colorful and eye catching assortment of rocks. My son spends hours throwing them into the lake, but sometimes pauses to join my hunt for beach glass. I love this park and I’m so grateful it’s in Madison!”

Lost Creek Reserve & Knoop Agricultural Heritage Center
4.6
( 8 reviews )

2385 State Rte 41, Troy, OH 45373, United States

“I have only seen the park in the dark during the Christmas light show. This is the first year for the Christmas lights, but the event seems very well organized. There are a lot of figure displays, but little in the way of lighted trees and other accent type lights. I think these will develop with time. The farm house and barns looked nice with their lights. Don't expect a show like Pyramid Hills...at least not yet.”

Dillon State Park
4.4
( 16 reviews )

5265 Dillon Hills Dr, Nashport, OH 43830, United States

“Dillon State Park is a beautiful place to hike. There are several hiking trails and trails available for horseback riding and biking. The trails are well marked and the blazes are easy to follow. It usually isn't busy and most of the time, you have the trail to yourself. You should wear appropriate footwear for hiking, the terrain changes frequently. The path can go from smooth to rocky and uneven. The trails at Dillon State Park have a lot to offer.”
