Arcata, CA 95521, United States

“Absolutely stunning hiking around here. A local recommended it to me and I couldn’t be more grateful to explore this gem of a place. The trails were so peaceful and serene, it was absolutely breathtaking, and I would love to return just to hike here given the chance! One of the photos I took here has been my phone lock screen for a few months now :•) honestly couldn’t recommend more highly!!”

768 Shelter Cove Rd, Whitethorn, CA 95589, United States

“Beautiful, wild place. You need a permit to stay overnight as well as bear canisters. The hike through the sand is brutal but worth it. Plus it's one of the few places you can just be surrounded by nature with yourself and your dog roughing it.”

Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park
4.5
( 16 reviews )

16949 CA-36, Carlotta, CA 95528, United States

“Great location for checking out the redwoods and still being in driving distance to Fortuna and Eureka. Be sure to get a spot on the river side of the loop, or you will have a LOT OF ROAD NOISE! We were close to the road, and it was not great for sleeping. We even had to pause our campfire chat a few times while trucks passed. Spaces are close together, without any brush in between. You will make eye contact with your neighbors from time to time. Kinda awkward for those that go to the forest for some seclusion.”
