“I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff here. It is run by a group of young people who always had a smile, a sweet word, or were ready to help if needed. They brought an energy and helpful spirit in every aspect. The campground is spotless, they pick up your garbage for you, plenty of washers and dryers in the laundry room. It was too cold for the water park but the horses and goats were friendly and a nice amusing touch. The owner made me laugh out loud with his guidelines. It is a joyous place all around. David Coomer and I enjoyed it tremendously and loved our site.”

“We’ve been going to yogi Bloomington for 5 plus years. Halloween is our favorite. Unfortunately this year it was immediately noticeable that a different ownership company has taken over. The old owners took such pride and built a legacy there. We booked our stay in two cabins and a 6 person golf cart over a year ago. Our weekend started off with a phone call before arrival stating our 6 person golf cart was unavailable, we could have a 4 person instead. That’s fine. We arrived and the last four person golf cart that was working (many were broken) was already given to another family. The first night there was a pumpkin planting hay ride we purchased seeds for, one of my kids tripped on the way there and we just barely missed the tractor driver getting off and they wouldn’t let us take a trip. He was rushing to the next activity I’m sure and this is when we noticed something was off and they were so short staffed compared to other years. They mentioned since we had the tickets we could ride the next day either way, the next day was too crowded. In the stations where multiple people were helping run years before there would only be one person. The young gal running the store was very nice but over worked and understaffed. She did get us a four person golf cart the second day. Some of the activities were canceled. A lot of things were unlocked due to staffing, no checking arm bands no code to get in, no one manning the bikes kids were just hopping on them. Our kids always love the trick or treating so we were just making it through to that, even with all the changes we were noticing. We had two cabins, neither were clean but the culmination was when I was nursing our 9 month old and I noticed a live adult bed bug going towards my arm and his head. We then spent most the rest of the trip throwing away many of our belongings and setting up professional cleaning of both of our cars so that we did not infest our own homes. They refunded one of our cabins but honestly the time money and stress that went into all of this we believe we should be refunded for the second cabin and help with the professional cleaning bill. Our kids spent the last day throwing away their favorite stuffed animals instead of making their normal fun memories. It’s sad for us to see the quick decline after visiting for years. I sincerely hope they take the proper cleaning measures before someone has a serious hospital trip from the bed bug infestation. The prior owners took such pride in this place.”

“This is a beautiful front facing hotel 🏨 that looks good. The lobby is well kept. If they kept the rooms as well as the lobby looks, it would be very good. Our room 314 smelled like someone had stayed in the room for a week smoking 🚬. We pushed through it for one night. My wife talked to the front desk, and they said they were totally booked for the night and couldn't accommodate a move. Nothing else was offered. We just wanted to make sure no smoking charges would be assessed to us. It was that strong and overpowering. The biggest problem I got from this is that we purchased 2 rooms, and we are a frequent supporter of the Hilton establishment, and we were being treated like we were insignificant as customers. My wife talked to the assistant manager, and she twisted words to benefit her stance on not accommodating us for our inconvenience. I hope they get things together.”

“We dropped into this funky boutique hotel on the recommendation of an Instagram friend. We were already booked at another hotel so didn’t check out the rooms but we did get a tour of the common areas. The lobby is really open and welcoming, and upstairs there is a nice common kitchen and really well thought out digital workspace. The interior design elements are really impressive. We spoke to some people who used the common area spaces while staying there and they loved the space. What we did do was sample some food, mocktails and coffee in their restaurant. The offerings - and prices - clearly catered European/North American palates. Two cappuccino were RM18 (CDN $5.20). While inexpensive by European/North American standards the cappuccino were nothing special and not nearly as good as the excellent Malaysian coffee available at the various Kopitiam in KK, where two coffees were routinely available for RM4.40 (CDN $1.25); and honestly we preferred the local brew. Mocktails were very well executed and good value for the money at an average of RM12.5 (CDN $3.60) each. We didn’t have any alcoholic cocktails but other reviewers rate them very highly. We tried two dishes from their interesting food menu: soft shelled crab risotto and curry laksa. The risotto was well executed and delicious, and good value for money at RM26.30 (CDN $7.15). The curry laksa was a bold attempt at a different take on a famous Borneo offering, but it fell a bit short for us. At RM22.80 (CDN $6.55) there are far better options for laksa in KK. Finally, we want to offer a caution re: the tours that are offered at the front desk. The English-speaking staff were very helpful in arranging the two tours we decided to book through them. We booked a tour of Kota Kinabalu National Park and a hot springs, as well as a Proboscis Monkey and Firefly tour. However, both tours were very disappointing, with poor guides, dubious food and poor organization. We recommend that you shop around for options before booking a tour here.”

“We stayed in Gimme A Break Log Cabin and our weekend was amazing. When we checked in everyone was courteous and helpful, as we had never visited this area before. Upon arrival at our cabin, we were beyond impressed with the cleanliness and upkeep of the cabin. Everything was warm and welcoming including a notebook to document our trip and read about other's visits to this cabin. It even came with a stocked game closet including some outdoor games to enjoy in the large yard. Everything we needed was within minutes, yet we still felt secluded enough to enjoy privacy. We would highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a couple's getaway, family vacation, or a girl's trip. It was simply perfect!”

“This is my second visit to the hotel. It is my go-to place when I'm in the area. It is very simple with no frills. Great price! Bring your own hair dryer. Coffee is available in the office not in each room. But I would rather pay the smaller price and get my own coffee.”
