“Based on the reviews here, we stayed at this hotel for a day while returning form Dresden. We totally enjoyed our stay here, we have two kids. The kids totally enjoyed their time, there is a nice play area outside the hotel. Additionally there is a play room inside the hotel, this kept the kids engaged and allowed us to enjoy our dinner. Behind the hotel is a hiking path, there is also a small stream running along the path. The views were lovely. The location of the hotel is outside town, so it's calm. We did not find supermarket or restaurants nearby. So either pickup what you need or eat at the restaurant in the hotel. We would love to come back here again during the vacations.”

“I was recently there for a wedding and spent the night. The rooms are amazing, they are basically small flats with a fully equipped kitchen and a living room. The food was very good and varied and the breakfast although expensive for what it was was ok. The castle itself is marvelous with gardens and a pool and it's just great to move around and relax. “Waiter was jerk. I had brought water since it was 35 degrees and wanted to stay hydrated. The waiter threatened to take my water bottle when I didn't understand him the first time. Like that was something that was actually going to happen? He was also really apathetic. One party enquired about what was in a dish and he said he didn't know and wouldn't ask about it. He also seemed genuinely annoyed that not everyone spoke German. The food was good but you can't enjoy it if you feel like you're in a place that's annoyed at your presence. But the restaurant saved €0.15 on tap water while forfeiting tips, so clearly what they're doing is working.”

You can't ask for a better location to visit Meiningen's downtown pedestrian zone or the short distance to the famous theater. It's also a short walk to the train station adjacent to the English Garden. The breakfast is excellent and at one point when requesting an item not on the menu, the employees provided it no questions asked. The hotel itself makes you feel like you're staying in a place from an era gone by. If you're staying in Meiningen, this is where you want to be.”

“Great hotel and a great price. The hotel is split over several buildings in one location, but the area is lovely and the staff are fantastic. The rooms are well sized and nicely modernised, with an excellent bathroom and enough lotions and potions to sort any traveller out who's forgotten something! The buffet breakfast was well cooked and well presented, if I'm ever back in the area I would be looking to stay there again.”

“We were there for a short break, for which the hotel is a very good choice. The staff was friendly, the room (superior) was in good condition and reasonably (though not perfectly) clean. The breakfast was delicious and had a wide variety. The hotel is getting old, the furnishings are mostly stuck in the early 2000s. With a little more attention to detail (inside and out) one could make a lot more out of the hotel, one or the other investment would work wonders. There was an evening buffet for 27.50 euros, which we didn't take advantage of as we wanted to eat Thuringian food. Unfortunately, there is only one real alternative restaurant in town and there are no charging stations for e-cars available.”

A bit of fruit on the waffles was moldy and when we pointed it out later, the waitress was very unconcerned, mumbled angrily as she walked away and just laughed the whole thing off. There was no apology. The waitresses were otherwise quite unfriendly, but the food (apart from one incident) was very tasty. The bathroom, on the other hand, left something to be desired in terms of cleanliness, very dirty and dusty.”
