“This week we spent a week in a Ferienwohnung at Birkenhof for the second time. It's a perfect place for a vacation with kids. They can feed the animals, ride ponies and play in the indoor playroom. The breadservice is really convenient. Holthausen is located in the middle of the Hoch Sauerland, providing a lot of opportunity for hiking. When the weather is bad, a pool or indoor playsite is nearby. The host really makes you feel welcome. Many thanks, we will surely come and visit again!”

“Although the breakfast is great and the hotel is placed on a beautiful location, I was not very satisfied about the service. I stayed in the hotel for 1 week(!) and forgot some (expensive) toiletries in the bathroom. When contacting the staff, they mentioned it had not been found (which is impossible) and if they would find it, I had to pay €15 for sending over the products. Very inhospitable and unfriendly, especially after having stayed there for a week.”

A bit of an effort to sleep in 2. Otherwise, very comfortable, with extra chairs and desk, tv. Ut was warm, which we liked. Bathroom small but has what you need. Breakfast is a buffet, fresh and varied, we enjoyed very much. Dinner was varied and different per evening, delicious. Restaurant is quite a cozy place as well. There are sauna's and a swimming pool with lounge area, also very nice. Swimming pool is cold though.”

“This is a very average hotel - I’m sorry but I’m not sure how it’s a 3 star hotel. I have stayed in 2 stars hotels which are much better! They charge 130€ per night (with breakfast) for a room which is the size of a matchbox. Breakfast is normal nothing special- they do have a waffle maker which was cool. Service wasn’t great either- we requested for a bottle of water around noon and the reception was asking us to pick it up🤨 Cool thing is Rewe is literally next door though. I don’t think I’ll stay here again, certainly not for that price!”
