“Visited here for a lunch meal in the week. The food was very well presented, tasty and excellent value. The daytime staff were very polite, helpful and friendly, which made our visit even better. The bar and restaurant areas were clean and spacious, and comfortable with two log burners. Drinks were good quality and not expensive. Well worth the trip, we travelled about 15 miles, but will certainly do so again as it was so good”

“we have just come back from a beautiful 14 nights stay in our caravan. the toilets and showers were always clean and the staff are very friendly and happy to help in anyway they can.. the last couple of nights we were there wasn't very pleasant with the noise of slamming doors until11pm but overall it was very quiet..not sure where there was a notice up in the toilets about the 10pm onwards quieting down times.. Monday morning a coffee and pancake van turns up and pizza, burger and fish and chips van on separate days of the week which are well worth eating and enjoying! Plenty of leisurely walks of the surrounding countryside..”

“We had Christmas Dinner there last year and it was fabulous so we booked for this year. What a disappointment. The setting is still lovely but they were vastly understaffed, the poor staff were actually running at times and they tried their best. The food was also a disappointment. We got, on average, 4 rock hard brussels, two pieces of parsnip, 1 piece of carrot, 4 small, burnt roast potatoes, a rock hard pellet of stuffing plus the meat for our main. No bread sauce or cranberry sauce until i went looking for someone to ask for it. The drinks were very limited too. Hardly any choice of wine and very few spirits. They completely forgot to bring us tea and coffee. It was very disappointing and we shall not be returning in a hurry which is a real shame. It used to be so good. UPDATE In reply to Makeney Halls comment. 1. I could not find a manager to speak to 2. There was more than one or two staff short. 3. Another member of my party has contacted you by email and has had no response as yet.”

“Absolutely loved this pub and staff. Found it by accident after a lovely river walk at Belper and called in for a quick drink. Liked the place so much we returned for Sunday roast with the in laws. “Have stayed here several times but pre Covid. Finally managed to get a weekend in and it’s a well run very friendly site. Excellent facilities ( but use our own) very attentive, friendly staff, they keep the place lovely. Great walks fro the dogs and lots to see and do. Excellent food places to. Highly recommend a visit.”

“It’s got a great location in Edale and flat pitches. The customer service and unfriendly attitude of the owners/ operators and the real life “micro transactions” let it down. Arrived at half one but wasn’t allowed to pitch up until 2. No Gazebos for some reason (but tarps and poles fine) 20p for 2 minutes of shower (seriously?? If it’s 20p why not just make it free) 50p for the hair dryer 50p to use the phone charger Really ugly garden fence put up to section off the visitor centre (makes it look like you’re camping on a council estate) Loud trucks and lorries coming and going from the visitor centre in the night Strict cancellation rules - wouldn’t refund me £10 for a car parking space I no longer needed. Grass had also recently been cut but not well collected, which meant grass everywhere inside the toilets, washing up facilities and tents. Ok so I am being very critical of this place. But they are charging top dollar to camp here and clearly hold themselves in high regard. A more friendly, cheerful service and getting rid of the ancient 20p machines for the shower and this could be a fantastic recommendation. Unfortunately I won’t be back.”

“Fabulous hospitality, food and service was excellent. Good menu range and value for money . The room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable, we even had biscuits with tea and coffee , such a nice treat . We will definitely stay again .”
