“We stayed 2 nights in one of the annex rooms which had direct access to the lawns, perfect for our dog. All of the staff were brilliant: cheery, helpful and generous. The breakfast buffet had everything we wanted, the views were great and the atmosphere was very relaxing. There is a regular bus service into Belluno, but we never used it as it's only a 30 minute walk. The finish wasn't perfect but the hotel had character and history. For the price, we happily give Villa Carpenada 5 stars!”

“If you get the chance, you must eat here. We were staying in the BandB upstairs, which is also great, and booked the restaurant thinning it was a run of the mill place, but it's a real treat. Cece looked after the three of us wonderfully, explaining the dishes to us; so friendly. The food was delicious. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had.”

“My husband, kids and I stayed at this rifugio during our Alta Via 1 hike. As soon as we got there, we had a delicious lunch (the best canederli in broth we had on the Veneto side of the trail) sitting at one of the outdoor tables and enjoyed the beautiful views of the mountains and garden. While some reviews noted the food as not being good (Italians don’t know how to do breakfast so perhaps they were referring to that?) my Italian husband and I thought it was the best food out of all the rifugios we stayed at on the Veneto side. The chef’s background is in pastries so don’t skip on dessert! A few things to note: while they provide sheets and blanket, you will need to have your own towel or purchase one at the rifugio, you must pay to take a shower, and limited outlets to plug your electronics.”

“This was perhaps doomed from the start. I found this accommodation on Google Maps and fell in love with the idea of staying in the wilderness overlooking the Ligurian sea. This place is completely *inaccessible* to anyone who is not backpacking which is not clearly communicated on their website. The offer of using the monorail for heavier luggage is smoke and mirrors. When attempting to journey to the accommodation I sought assistance from the owner who was most unhelpful and pitiless to my distress (I was lost on the trail at the time). Don't bother trying to make this your grail...it's not going to happen. I ended up staying in Santa Margherita Ligure and day tripping to San Fruttuoso.”

“Cheap and good place to stay. But keep in mind that it's nothing luxurious, it goes along with the budget. It really shines for its location, being really close to everything. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Note for the shared refrigerator: it's at the reception, which has limited hours. You can ask for one but they are limited across the rooms. Our bathroom was clean, but the toilet really smelled like urine (which seems like a pipe issue during high temperatures). Edit: following the response, I adjusted the review.”

“The location is the absolute best as you are in the heart of the bast part of town. Nice restaurants and shops as soon as you walk outside your hotel. The rooms could be upgraded with much larger TV’s and the water pressure is pretty low. The hotel staff was extremely nice in helping us in every way. The morning breakfast was good but don’t think you are getting a buffet. There is a variety but it’s limited and the best I saw was a nice croissant with ham and cheese. They also have cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit jelly and I will add that it all seemed top shelf so it was great. There is a nice man that greets you and helps if you have any questions. He will also make you a Latte or specialty coffee of your choice and he does a fantastic job! We stayed at the highest point overlooking the beach so I’m guessing it was the best room they had and the video gives you an idea of what it is. I paid $220 a night for 7 days. The private beach at the bottom is the best part about this hotel. It closes at 6 pm and I feel it would of great to see it open later into the night. There one huge issue if you have a car, there is No parking at the hotel because of the location. You must park your car at a place that is a 6-10 minute walk and it’s where you will see some boats and tour boats docked. The hotel receptions will show you the location.”

First of all this place is about family and simplicity - it’s run by the family who owns the place and you can the feel it how welcoming they are. Rooms are clean and pretty specious. Food is great and breakfast as it should be - true Italian with lot of sweet goodies and great coffee. Really recommend the place! P.S. if you love dogs - this is the best place to stay! They do have many of them running around!”
