Beyond the exceptional service, the hotel itself offered everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. They have a spa and we also enjoyed a lovely breakfast each morning. The location was convenient, within walking distance of several landmarks. We had a two-night stay here but my family and I wished we could have stayed longer! “Great hostel! My partner and I stayed 3 nights in the 8 bed dorm and had a great time. The location is out of town on the peninsula but there are public bus’s that run twice an hour to town and back to the hostel which cost 20 Lyra, so very easy to get in and out. The breakfast is phenomenal and the view is incredible. 8 bed dorm showers were clean and there were windows to air the room out, however not as nice as the other rooms, bit older and most top bunks didn’t have curtains, bathrooms were good though. Pros - great pool, view, eating space - great kitchen to cook food - clean and attentive staff Cons - no curtain on my bunk but there were on others - no market close to hostel so stock up on groceries in town - bar was a bit spenny. Would definitely stay again.”

“First of all, I have to say: hotel staff are extremely hospitable, friendly and polite people, this is how they treat their guests with respect and a smile. The rooms are nice for their price. Street noise is not a big problem if you come for the holidays and come to the room late at night. The employees were kind and caring. It is at a central point in Kadıköy, less than 2 minutes' walking distance from both the airport bus stops and the ferry piers. It is also a very good service to have hot tea service at the reception floor. I love it.”

“Okay, this is a hostel, keep that in mind. We were able to park our rental car. The breakfast was amazing! The staff was pleasant, professional, and accommodating. Now, the best part about this hostel is that it is, literally, walking distance from the major attractions. When you leave the hostel, on your right down the street to your left is a little store, go there for your snacks and drinks. The restaurants were expensive, really expensive. Look at the prices and the menu first and do the conversions, because we paid way too much for the food there and at the airport, ridiculous prices. I’m too embarrassed to say how much, but lesson learned. Should have asked the hostel staff about where to eat, but we were too excited to just start walking.”

“Very low hygiene, rooms without ventilation Booked after search in google map. Owners are a couple. The man is very kind and service minded but the lady in reception was not willing to work or help. The sheets had stains, stained like blood. when I personally went and kindly said so, the husband wanted to change them immediately but the wife sat smoking her cigarette and gave an excuse. She thought it was the fault of previous customers that stains do not go away in the wash. Although other good hotels throw sheets that don't get clean. There was a guy who served breakfast. When he couldn't open the lid of the water bottle, he used his dirty T-shirt to get hold of. The table was dirty and when he was going to wipe it he brought a dish cloth that smelled rotten. Later it turned out that he is the one who cleans the rooms. Then you understand the level of hygiene. Room lacks ventilation and gets damp and smells bad from the bathroom when you close the window/door. We had to sleep by opened door (entrance via garden) to be able to breathe. They had promised an upgrade several times so we stayed but in the morning they lied that there were no other rooms. We checked out after breakfast. Very very low hygiene and service. We must say that the husband was very kind. He really tries but they have not the knowledge to run a hotel and very bad employees.”

“October 2023 Fantastic hotel in the heart of the dynamic Kizilay district of Ankara surrounded by hundreds of restaurants, cafés, shops, ATMs. Excellent rooms, smoking rooms are always on the top floors so we had a good street view. They don't have tea/coffee in the room, instead you call up anytime day/night and you can order: Turkish coffee, Nescafe coffee, Turkish tea (çay), or English tea. It's not the highest quality, but it's nice to sip and watch the people going by. The staff are BRILLIANT. They speak relatively good English and gave superb recommendations, directions, and our taxis were waiting every time on the dot. You can take a very easy, pleasant walk to the Atatürk Mausoleum from the hotel. We caught the train to Ankara, and simply caught the Metro straight to Kizilay and walked a few minutes to the Hotel. They stored our bags for free while we took a trip to Malatya and had the same room ready for us when we returned. STRONGLY recommend Lion City Hotel Kizilay.”
