No AC in rooms and some bugs because you are in a ecolodge surrounded by nature.. Not for those who insist on all the modern conveniences but definitely for those who crave peace and quiet and natural beauty. . Very memorable experience.”

Stayed in all girls dorm, clean, pretty quiet despite all the festivities going on and comfy. Staff was super friendly and attentive but definitely 3 that made the experience worth while. “I just stayed at Casa Loma accidentally, but I had an amazing time there and would have loved to stay for longer!! The hike up there is a little slippery, so better don’t wear Flip Flops, but the place is just amazing 🤩 so many nice areas to socialize, read a book/be on your own, practice Yoga or work. The staff is super friendly and helps you also with further plannings & gives recommendations for food/activities in/around Minca or other places. The Food at Casa Loma is delicious and for dinner everyone sits together at a big table. I really liked the atmosphere there! If you stay in the 4 bed dorm directly above the reception/restaurant, you even don’t get wet, when you need something from your room & it is raining 😉”

“It really pains me to give this place a 1 star rating because it’s actually absolutely beautiful. Right by the ocean. Great pool and atmosphere. The service in here is so bad that I hope the owners change something about it. Me and my friends ordered pizza, paid for it and for one of us it never came. Not only once, but several times. When we told them they didn’t wanna give us the money. Said: come tomorrow for a pizza. I am sitting at the breakfast table right now, after waiting for 30 minutes they tell me my order never got through. Money goes through but not the food. And It’s not even that busy. The worst thing is: when you tell the staff they don’t care. They’re not sorry, they seem to be annoyed by everything and can’t be bothered. There’s another hostel a couple of hundred meters away, they’re called costeño beach hostel. They are busier and have many more visitors and they manage to get it all right and be so friendly and respectful. I’m writing this cause it’s a shame a place this beautiful gets it service so wrong.”

“Noisy. The room itself was nice, but we heard a weird constant banging sound. Our room had a strange opening above the jacuzzi which also carried the noises. The location is great for being close to food, bars and clubs. But we could hear it all until 3am. Our AirPods noise cancellation feature helped a ton.”

“Being a disciple of Christ, it pains me to give such a low rating, but I wouldn't be doing any justice if lied while they are lurking in each and every category, First the Tv wasn't working, that got resolved in about 15 mins. Horrendous stench coming from the bathroom, unable to sleep two nights in a row even while masked up, it took two days to change rooms, only after calling the online booking company and them agreeing to cancel the rest of the remaining days if the issue wasn't resolved within an hour. I don't care much for breakfast but just imagine going to an empty dining room only to find one small burn in an entire bread bin, lukewarm coffee, empty milk kettle and disgusting juice with absolutely no taste or flavor, (Paw paw or raw mango juice) I just walked away and went to a Starbucks for light breakfast. This was an extremely poor decision booking this hotel on my part, especially after having extremely positive hotel stay in my 6-country tour of South and Latin America. Choose wisely or you might regret like I have.”

“Had a really good experience! I stayed for a month as a coworker in a dorm. The only issue I experimented was the lights going out when big storms came during the night (this happened twice only) affecting only the use of the AC. As they have solar panels, wifi worked all the time which help me being able to work as usual. People attending the place was really nice, breakfast quite good and the drinks were awesome. Price-Benefits relation was perfect. Will recommend and come back for another experience for sure ✨✨”

“The Explora hostel is very nice, it's in a central area, close to universities, museums and tourist sites such as the Quevedo's fountain, among others. The attention provided was very good, the breakfasts are very rich and the shower has a water heater and the rooms are comfortable. It is a good place to spend quiet time. Would definitely go back!”

“This hotel/hostel looks great in pictures but in practice it’s extremely subpar, which is honestly really sad because it has so much potential. I think it’s the management and their poor “policies” and harsh treatment of their staff (causing staff to be extremely strict and uptight) that makes the experience here inconvenient and uncomfortable, rather than fun and bright as it looks in the pictures. There’s no energy or vibe here - it’s very supressed . We personally booked this place for the boutique vibe and fun look. We booked a dorm to be able to socialize and have a comfy place to rest. But it was neither of those things. One of their “policies” is to turn the air conditioning off at 9am in a room FULL of people - no explanation, just policy. In Cartagena a lot of us in the dorm were here for a festival which went late, and of course it gets HOT in the day, leaving the room unbearable in the day (while private rooms with 1-2 people can use their AC). I have stayed in hundreds of hostels and not encountered this. Meanwhile everything is expensive, from the drinks to the food to the dorms themselves, but their excuse is “it’s a hostel” while charging $15 USD for a gin and tonic. They have a pool on the ground floor, but refuse to allow you to exit the hotel thru the reception area (a few seconds walk) in a swimsuit during the daytime because of their pizza restaurant…. in a beach destination where people walk around in swimsuits anyway. They attract their clientele with neon signs and colorful walls but the personality of the place is the exact opposite of the vibrancy of its decor. A real shame. Just go to Selina (air conditioned 24/7 and managed well.”

“Not a great hostel Pros: Good location The pool design is nice Reliable wi-fi Cons: Poor service - the workers are all teenagers, who usually dont know how to help. Poor rooms - the dorms had little ventilation and bo fan, no electric outlets, dirty beds, and crowded. Generally not well kept - dirty bathroom and showers, no toilet paper, dirty pool, etc. I would recommend the owners build a proper routine for upkeeping the hostel, and replace the 5 teenagers with 2 good and efficient workers”
