“We enjoyed a tasting on the patio followed by the eight-course tasting menu dinner seated at the chef's table overlooking the kitchen. Service was excellent, food was delicious, wines were well paired, and watching the intricate dance that is meal-preparation in a fine-dining restaurant is immensely entertaining. One of our favorite courses was the bread served with Camembert butter with honey and salt. By the time the dessert arrived, we thought we would not be able to eat another bite, but we finished the beautiful soft meringue with rhubarb to the very bottom of the dish. A most enjoyable experience of food and wine.”

“Place was clearly build to be upscale but it's a tad run down. For example, the carpets are a little worn, the wooden doors and the baseboards are scuffed up throughout the hotel, and the no smoking sign on our patio was held on with duct tape. A quick trip to the hardware store could have fixed that. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and it was nice to have to pool/sauna/hot tub/gym available.”

“Unremarkable. For families staying in Wellington it may offer some great sleep as it’s very quiet and the beds are comfortable but other than that it’s pretty lacking in charm and character. This is not a five star hotel, as evidence by the lack of personal service and care in everything. The standards here are low-the food is terrible and the spa likely gave my daughter a rash. There is just nothing that would make me come back to this hotel. Maybe it’s great if you are a business traveler.”

“Everything! The location has to be the best part! What a fantastic view! You can see the lake and the church of the good shepherd, with views from the kitchen/dining room/living area/balconies/some rooms. The kitchen is modern and very well-equipped with lots of storage space for food, big fridges and a freezer, plenty of microwaves, etc. The rooms were modern and clean. The beds had charging ports, reading lights, a privacy curtain, and lockers under the bed and free standing as units. Bathrooms are clean and modern. The staff were very friendly, and kept all of the spaces very clean. There is also a pool table, a TV room, and outside seating. Amazing location right next to the Dark Sky Project and supermarket, very short walks to all the nearest cafes/restaurants.”

“A lovely place to stay in Queenstown with incredible views but removed enough from the crowds. The bedroom was spacious and clean, however the bathrooms could use a bit of an upgrade (but were clean and with lots of hot water). We paid for a view but it was mostly obstructed, which wasn’t a huge deal but worth nothing. We sadly only went to the restaurant for breakfast but I had the best scrambled eggs I have ever had (and probably will ever have) so will have to come back for dinner during another visit. I would very happily stay here again.”

“Nice hotel and accommodation. Very spacious rooms! There is a coin-laundry inside the hotel that is very valuable. The staffs were wonderful and very helpful, especially Saki! Breakfast was so repetitive for a 4-nights stay and the service was so mediocre during breakfast. One downside is the walkable access from/to the lake area is through a very steep road, not accessible for wheelchair. Level 7 can be accessed by using the staircase from level 6.”

“The food was okay, but it feels like the menu was a bit light on options. They used to have quite a good variety. Unfortunately we had a stuff up with our drinks on this visit and they were forgotten about until reminded and didn't arrive until 40 minutes into our visit. They weren't exceptionally busy but did seem like they were run off their feet, perhaps a little light on staff, they were friendly and polite. Several of us opted for the pizzas which were good, and filling enough for a hungry kiwi bloke, but they were $28. The venue is good and there is plenty of space for the kids to go wild outside so it is a popular choice for families. This was our first visit in about 18 months, it's a bit out of our way but we used to come regularly before the kids. Will give it another chance, but I'll be checking the menu online first to see if it's improved.”

“While there is a great deal of construction occurring near this hotel right now, it stands out as the best hotel at which we stayed while (on a small group National Geographic tour) in New Zealand. The rooms were spotless and plush, the staff members (100%) were excellent, the free laundry saved us, and the breakfast offerings were sumptuous! The hotel itself is centrally located which allowed us to visit the Botanic Gardens and nearby restaurants on foot during our one night stay in Christchurch.”

The dinner was downright outstanding though it wouldn't hurt to include a side dish. What we ordered and paid for was excellent. For this situation in a wine region, we'd like for them to offer the option of a corkage fee so we can bring and drink our favorite wines found in area wine tastings. I understand they'd like to sell their Luna wines in particular which I believe the same owners own. But it wasn't our favorite. (Your taste buds may differ.) The breakfasts had appropriate options but the hot items weren't even close to hot. Staff was nice enough to microwave when needed but that shouldn't be necessary. Neat to improve the heating pans. That all said, I'll give the benefit of the doubt and hit that 5th star mainly on the strength of the room.”
