“The welcome is great, a shuttle picks you up at the ferry. Then a person welcomes you to your room and follows you throughout your stay, for dinner, breakfast etc... The meals are very good and the setting perfect. The bathhouses are great as well. We had two real beds and not futons, which is much more comfortable.”

“I have stayed in more hotels than most people, in locations around the world, and this one is my favorite. While my room wasn't huge, it had plenty of space for me and was perfectly designed. The integration of technology for comfort was flawless, with features like a nightlight button by the bed that would provide just enough illumination for a 3am restroom visit without waking me up. This is the first time I have ever seen an automatic toilet lid, and I was captivated. The shower, tub, cabinet design, and everything else about the room layout was delightful. In particular, my eighth floor room had a beautiful view that I could take advantage of with the bench seat built into the window. Also, the bed was the perfect amount of soft and cozy with nice pillows. I can also say wonderful things about the team working there. They were friendly, helpful, and patient with my lack of Japanese. I arrived before check-in time and they offered me a reasonably priced upgrade to a room that was already ready if I wanted to get settled immediately. Instead, they graciously put my luggage in my room for me when it was ready so that I could head to the Peace the museum until my reserved room was available. A delightful stay. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer.”

“A really beautiful hotel in Miyajima, walking distance from most sights in the town. Our room had a lovely view of the O-torri gate which was very special. We stayed in a traditional Japanese room which was very beautiful and a good experience. We are not from Japan, so I do wish we had looked up some of the etiquette for Japanese style rooms beforehand. There were some things we did not know and I would want to avoid offending the staff, who were all so kind and accommodating. The dinner and breakfast were very delicious and included a lovely assortment of seasonal fish. The hotel also offers a shuttle from the ferry, which was very nice.”

While I believe it is a historical building, it is completely modernized and exquisite on the interior with lovely views of the sea and open air private onsen in your room. There is also a large hot spring room available to book privately throughout the day that is quite spacious and enjoyable. The meals are absolutely magnificent kaiseki style. The staff’s kindness and attention to detail is unparalleled. There is a complimentary shuttle to and from Fukuyama station making it convenient for day trips, particularly Hiroshima~ and 30 minute ride away. Do give yourself plenty of time to enjoy this very unique and wonderful Inn. Thank you Ochi Kochi for an amazing stay.”

“One of the better hotels I stayed in during my recent trip around Japan. Rooms are well lit and modern and space though small is well used. Check in and checkout was smooth and the staff were friendly and spoke decent English. The hotel does have a public bath house but unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to use it. Located about 5 mins walk from Hiroshima station and right across a couple of convenience stores which can come in super handy. A coffee shop/ restaurant is attached right to the hotel and the included breakfast was pretty basic but tasted good. Good experience overall will stay again if in the Hiroshima area.”

“We really enjoyed our stay here, it is extremely convenient if you are thinking about doing the Shimanami Kaido bike path when starting in the Onomichi side. The facilities were clean and spacious for the price. The WiFi was very good (which is a relief because it has been spotty in other locations). As a bonus there is plenty of well thought out charging ports and cords provided for you.”

The staff were lovely and very helpful, the included breakfast was very yummy (actually the same as another hotel we stayed at for$350/night), the rooms are small but comfortable and the location is fantastic! It is only a short am to the A Bomb Dome, a beautiful walk along the river, lots of good options and public transport. This place is outstanding for the price!! Good work to the team that works here!!”

“Definitely the place to relax! Very remote location - set in the hills of East Hiroshima - the hotel is quiet and beautiful. It has a really pretty garden and several painting exhibitions you can stroll through after your bath. The rooms are comfortable - Japanese style. Lots of choices for breakfast - buffet style. Dinner is amazing 13-course meals every night that didn't repeat for the 4 days we were there! The baths are standard - the men/women areas rotate each day. We were definitely stared at (which was a bit uncomfortable while naked in the baths) but then again, we do look a bit different than the locals - we expected it. Only Japanese spoken and written. There are busses into town every 50 minutes on the main road so getting around without a car is not an issue (taxis are available as well). Takehara is also a great place to explore!”

“No tattoos allowed. Cute kid's bath. The women's steam sauna has facial pack. The outdoor area has three waterfall spouts! Very relaxing! Food is inexpensive and very delicious! They don't have hair conditioner, so make sure to bring yours or buy one in the counter. I just wish the sauna is hot enough, it was only 80 degrees.”
