“We didn't stay here, but my parents did and we visited them while they were there. Its quite a small hotel and the rooms and bathrooms are also, shall we say, compact. As many reviews on Trip Advisor have mentioned, the hanging space for clothes is above a dressing table/ desk so clothes are literally hanging on it if they're long. Not really ideal. You could make do for a couple of nights, but inconvenient for longer stays. No where to store suitcases so they are in the way. Pool area a reasonable size but lacking in any character. Gym was a nice surprise. Small but really nice. The gem is the rooftop bar with 360 degree views. The bar downstairs is pleasant but small. Location is outside of Funchal centre but close enough to walk comfortably enough. Easy access to sea promenade. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops close by.”

“The Pestana Miramar is in an excellent location in Funchal to enable walking either to the city centre and the promenade front or in the other direction to the Lido area. There are bus stops on the road outside the hotel to take buses in either direction, too, and the journey prices are very reasonable. The rooms are nice, though a little dated, and the service from all the staff is very friendly and very good.The buffet dinners in the A Vila restaurant are very good with plenty of choice. However, it's best to go before 9.45am for breakfast to ensure a good selection. The only 'downside' is that the indoor swimming pool - good to use in the Winter period - isn't heated and is quite cold for a swim. Overall, a very nice holiday and superb views over the island and harbour from our apartment balcony.”

“I travelled and stayed here with my family (husband and toddler) and our room size and cleanliness was fantastic. The room: We had an enormous bed for when our toddler wanted to join us in the bed but also had her own single bed that was against a wall so we were able to secure using the chairs to avoid her falling off. The facilities: The outdoor pool was perfect for a fresh swim but the indoor pool was nicely heated for the rainy days (we went in January so there were momentarily heavy rain). The spa is great and recommend getting a massage! The breakfast is also packed with a great selection those for special dietary requirements. On our first night, we did eat at the buffet and it had a wide range of selection to cater for my vegetarian husband and my picky eater toddler. The staff and the service: We went on this trip to get away from the January blues for my husband's birthday. I mentioned it to one of the staff and they took this information and surprised my husband with a lovely note and flowers sent to our hotel room on the day of his birthday - thank you for that! Each staff greeted us with a smile and were all very helpful with our toddler. We seamed to be the only family staying in the hotel at the time but we felt that the whole place was family friendly - apart from the reception where there are glass coffee tables as part of the decor. but other that that, if we were to go back to Funchal, Enotel would a high on our option list.”

“Enotel, if you have not heard of them, is a well-established chain of hotels and resorts in Madeira. Enotel Sunset Bay is located right on the seafront at Ponta do Sol with restaurants and bars all within walking distance. The hotel consists of several 'buildings' or rather facades, so I was surprised when I walked in to see a huge lobby. There is also a heated indoor pool next to the reception. For a night stay, the staff was nice and has given me an upgrade with a great balcony overlooking the sea. The room has 2 huge beds, the decor, bathroom, cleanliness, and size all exceeded my expectations. The breakfast is excellent, and we are spoilt for choice. I especially recommend the receptionists who were very friendly and helpful with tips. After a 30km walk from Funchal - it made such a difference to have such friendly personnel and a nice hotel room!”

“We liked the hotel very much overall, it was nice and clean, with pleasant staff and good breakfast. The room was nice, big bed with great mattress and pillows. I liked the feeling of texture on the floor with nice design of matching tiles, window with good sound insulation, world class spa procedures, the minimalist/contemporary design of everything. What could be improved to get 6 out of 5 :) - I believe the noise on balcony from the street can be significantly lowered by applying some sound insulation to the fans of air conditioning from both ocean building (the one with "Recharge" bar) and also Royal Savoy - The tea kettle had unpleasant plastic smell - The bar uses ice cubes presumably made from tap water, which seemed desalinated - thus giving slight salty taste to all drinks - Lobby bar had ice cream on menu, but when asked, turns out it is in the other building in "recharge" bar - I wear M size pants, but I found the WC seat to be quite small”

Hotel lobby is decently ok, and the experience with their staff was good, but the hotel rooms, our family used three of them, are very outdated, bathrooms really need a mayor improvement, A/C in room 307 dripped water the whole first night, and was repaired next day. At least 3rd floor hallway carpet is really in bad shape, stains all over, specially in front of elevator. The best mayor plus of the hotel is its location, but other than that it qualify for a low 3 stars hotel.”

“Fantastic hotel in the centre of Funchal, a 10 minute walk from the main Square. Although in the main area, it's quite quiet as in front of the hotel, there is the Scots Kirk and gardens and to the side the local park. There are no really steep hills from the main area to the hotel. The rooms aren't the largest we have been in, but are more than big enough for your stay. The rooms were cleaned every day, as was the rest of the hotel. There are lifts to every floor, including the rooftop bar. The breakfast every morning was very nice. The rooftop bar has nice views and a swimming pool. Our room No.316 faced South, so we got the sun most of the day. The staff were polite and friendly.”
