“We have just had the absolute pleasure of a 4 night stay.Congratulations to Neil, Katy and all the staff from the reception to dining room and housekeeping, nothing was too much trouble. We needed a small heater for the room as one night was particularly chilly and no sooner had the request been put to Neil than one arrived at our door. The room was spacious, clean and.comfortable and suitably adapted for the wheelchair use that was needed. Breakfast was served in a relaxed atmosphere and dinner in the evening was nothing short of Michelin star standard. And finally this Hotel is great value for money! We enjoyed the stay so much we have already booked for 2024. Can’t wait to return to this gem of a Hotel in the stunning Gougane Barra surroundings.”

“Good - the staff is exceptional, particularly Jenny and Esteban. The grounds are nice for walking around and exploring. The barman is great and the live Irish music a delight. Having boardgames was also nice as we could play on rainy days. Dinners were delicious. If you want to get out of the city and escape to nature, it's a good option. Not so good - the majority of lampposts and lighting on the grounds are not working, so the walking trails are not safe after dark, even with cellphone lights. At the lake house the parking is away from the house which you also need to walk in the dark. An Irish country side getaway however it is not. The decor feels sparse, the breakfast area cold and awkward, and no where is there any Irish art or inspiration despite being in gorgeous West Cork - it could've been anywhere in the world. The library and bar doesn't have enough seating for the amount of people who will want to sit and have a drink during busy times. And there's a pamphlet on the place's history - but it's just a list of renovations and owners. Look up the history yourself, particularly about the garden wall.”
