“Many lodges amongst the trees 2 km from Wareham forest, nice place and surrounded by countryside. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and the price is start from around £93 per night for the smaller lodges. They are very modern and recently built with good insulation and currently all have gas boilers, but that may change when they are outlawed! Some of the bigger ones have hot tubs, and the larger lodges are four bedroom, so suitable for larger family groups or gatherings.”

“We weren't even visiting Lyme for lunch however the Rock Point Inn looked so lovely we couldn't resist stopping for a bite to eat. The setting is absolutely superb looking out over Lyme Bay. Excellent choice of beers including Proper Job which is kept beautifully. The menu was extensive with many choices and both our meals were faultless, staff were attentive and really friendly. A return visit is imminent.”

“We came for Sunday lunch. What a find this is. Service was absolutely fantastic and the staff were so kind to my nan who’s got Alzheimer’s. The market buffet is just so lovely and fresh and tasty and all the food was great. Best part Was it was peaceful finally somewhere not trying to be “family orientated” no kids running around screaming. Just a lovely setting, great service and food we can’t believe we haven’t been before. Definitely coming back soon.”

“After a blustery walk on the beach with the dogs we came here for lunch today. Lovely friendly welcome from a young lady on the door who showed us to our table. Comfortable table for the five of us & 2 dogs where we had a drink from the well stocked bar. Great selection of beers, ales and spirits on offer. Our food was hot, freshly prepared & very tasty. We all commented on how lovely our meal was, especially my wife who had the fish cakes off the daily specials. My daughter even found room for dessert a sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommend this dog friendly pub.”

“Haddon House Hotel is situated on the roundabout opposite the main car park for West Bay and the entrance can be a little tricky if traffic is heavy. We couldn't see any disabled parking in the front (the hotel is popular and the carpark was very busy), there was none marked in the overflow around the back. There was also no wheelchair access from the rear car park either. This may just be something that we missed. The food and the service was excellent and nice to see local youngsters being given opportunities when we hear of high youth unemployment. Anyway we visited Haddon House for my mother in law's birthday. We had the Sunday roast and everything was lovely the desserts were also excellent and there was a good selection. And the price was very reasonable for the entire meal. The waiting staff we had were all very helpful. I wouldn't describe it as quiet as it was very busy with several large groups. The decor is a little dated but it is clean and tidy. I highly recommend making a booking in advance as it is popular with locals and holiday makers alike. We booked 2 months in advance for a group of 8. We look forward to returning in the near future.”

Only reason for not giving 5 stars was it took a while to check in (it was a Friday evening and the staff were busy, but everyone was extremely polite). “Stayed for one night in Nov 23. We use Premier Inn regularly both for work and leisure. Our usual experience is a reasonable standard, good value for money, and a good night's sleep. The experience at the Dorchester Premier Inn was very different. The standards demonstrated in Dorchester are fundamentally different in almost all respects to elsewhere. On arrival, there was no staff member to check us in. No problem, so we tried to check in using the self-service machines. Both were broken with paper signs on saying so. We then spent 15 minutes walking around the hotel, trying to find a member of staff to check us in. I eventually found one who said that he would book us in, but we were disturbing his break. He reluctantly booked us in. During the usually peaceful night, there was a continual stream of people banging past the hotel room and making noises that kept us awake until the small hours. In the morning, the weather was terrible, so rather than mosey into town for a bite to eat, we elected to have breakfast in the hotel. After paying and asking someone to wipe one of the dirty empty tables, we sat down. However, there was no coffee as the machine was broken. No orange juice, no continental breakfast, no plates, the place was a mess, and the cooked food wouldn't have looked out of place in the local nick. Utterly appalling. So I asked for a refund, which I was grudgingly given by one of the staff. We were overall really disappointed. We have had such good service in the other Premier Inn hotels. I made these representations to customer service and was told that they would offer some training to staff. Would check the feedback on any Premier Inn I stay at in future. And would not go back here ever. A real shame.”

“Knoll House is in dire need of repairs and thorough cleaning. The rooms are outdated, with torn carpets and peeling paint on window frames. Additionally, the game room was neglected, covered in spider webs, and equipped with worn-out equipment, making it virtually unusable. However, the most disappointing aspect was the spa area, especially the second floor. Our decision to stay here was influenced by the prospect of relaxing in the spa after a day of hiking in the beautiful surroundings. Regrettably, the spa closed at 5 pm, just an hour after the check-in time. This unexpected closure completely ruined our plans and left us feeling utterly dissatisfied. The lack of maintenance in the spa area and the limited operating hours not only impacted our overall experience but also contradicted the hotel's advertised amenities. Knoll House possesses immense potential owing to its stunning location, but it urgently requires attention to maintenance, cleanliness, and more accommodating service hours, particularly for its spa facilities. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of our expectations and significantly dampened what should have been a rejuvenating getaway for both of us.”
