“I had the pleasure of attending the venue for a work Christmas party on the 2nd of December and I was pleased by the all-round experience. A beautiful building, with fantastic decoration and atmosphere. Food was delicious and the service exemplary; particularly from a young lady whose name I believe is Diana/Diane. “I was there for a family Sunday lunch. The staff were polite and welcoming, but I'm afraid that's the end of my positive comments. There were a dozen of us, crammed into a table for maybe eight or ten at most. For some reason there were piles of coffee cups in the middle of the table, like the breakfast table of a cheap hostel. Then the food arrived. I immediately noticed that the plate of the person sitting next to me was visibly chipped, which I took as a bad omen... I had ordered the melon trio, which turned out to be a (very basic and not very fresh) dessert, strangely served as a starter; the salmon, which came in a tiny, miserable-looking portion and was grossly overcooked; the 'homemade strawberry pavlova', which was anything but homemade, with mediocre jam instead of real strawberries and no trace of cream. Everyone in my corner of the table shared the same disappointment with the food, especially the dessert: we all ordered something different and were all equally disappointed; bizarrely, every dessert, no matter what it was, came with large scoops of the same store-bought ice cream on top - I think whoever created the menu made some rather puzzling choices. We were never asked by the staff how our meal was, and didn't want to spoil the nice atmosphere of our family reunion, so we kept our complaints to ourselves, but I can't say we enjoyed the food, except maybe the roast potatoes, which were nice and tasty. I guess the relatively cheap prices partly make up for the terrible quality of the food. I've seen other reviews praising the food, so who knows, maybe it was just a bad day for the kitchen.”

“We celebrated Christmas Eve at the Pig and Truffle with our family visiting from Italy and we had a fantastic time. We stayed in the private dining room which has a cosy and intimate atmosphere that was perfect for all of us (including two babies and a small child). Food was excellent, each course was superbly cooked and very tasty. Great choice in the menu of different specialties, we tried most dishes and were not disappointed. Terry was absolutely brilliant, super attentive and looked after us all evening with so much warmth that made us feel at home. We will be back for sure.”

“I have lived here for around 5 years now and the service is terrible I asked them to cut the tree 3 years ago as it was damaging the caravan walls on the outside, they still haven’t done it. I found it very disappointing that they have an indoor pool but it isn’t open in the winter so what is the point of building a new one when the kids that live there could play in it. Arcade is rigged as the machines just eat the money and don’t let you play the game, barely any of the machines actually work. I am quite let down that the catering and convenience facilities are never open and when they are they cost a lot of money and is quite overpriced.”

“Stayed here for a couple of nights due to a family wedding and it was amazing! The staff were friendly, helpful, well organised and above all hardworking, while multitasking as well. The little, pocket-rocket (Oriental? looking) shift manager, whose name I've forgotten, sorry 😞) was so polite while dealing with a very tall, loud, argumentative male client, she kept her cool but stood her ground! The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in, which is fantastic as I have a bad back!! It was also clean and fresh. The cleaning ladies were lovely too, polite and hardworking. The dinner and breakfast deal (£24.95, I think) was really good value and tasty too. Another staff member (Ellie?) was serving dinner until late and back early again in the morning to serve the breakfast. She must have been really tired but it didn't stop her being nice to customers and colleagues. Finally, the location... it was really close to the train station but in a place where there was no bustle, away from the high street.”

To say the rooms were stunning would be an understatement. The setting, the comfort & facilities were excellent. My Granddaughter had a dog friendly ground floor room, which was as luxurious as all the others. It became obvious why the young men on reception were so proud when they showed us to our rooms.
