“We booked one of the suites for our wedding/honeymoon between Christmas and new year. My husband couldn’t believe that it’s only a 4-star hotel. The room was incredible - so comfortable and well stocked. The staff were really friendly and helpful, bringing up milk and orange juice and extra chairs for the morning of our wedding while we got ready. They were fine with us taking wedding photos in the lobby and grounds too. We arrived back to a bottle of champagne and a lovely note that evening. The breakfasts were amazing too in the on-site bistro. Neither of us really wanted to leave and wished we could have had a bit longer there. Absolutely 5-star service and place. Thank you for an incredible stay - we felt very well looked after.”

Hotel is away from the city so it is in a very quiet and peaceful area with bus connectivity from Princess Street. Breakfast was good as well. Location was fantastic with great access to historical sights and food. For the holidays they had mulled wine in the lobby. That was a very welcome treat after a day sightseeing around Edinburgh.”

“The location is what makes this hotel. Excellent location and walking options. The rooms are needing some repairs in places. The walls and window frames have quite a bit of paint peaking off due to moisture and the overall presentation is now looking a little tired. Shower door didn’t close properly. Lobby and entry was lovely. Cleaning staff were rude unfortunately. Overall a very convenient location and the room just needs some updates.”

Only a couple of things let it down ; 1 being the room service option isn't available no more , and also cocktails and food are no longer available to purchase from the property but you can have it delivered, was told they don't serve cocktails no more but the man the front desk named a couple he did know how to do and made them for us , amazing service! 2 being one of the bedrooms view is a graveyard . Beers and snacks were available to purchase downstairs at the bar for affordable prices. All in all I would definitely stay again!”

“I do not recommend this hotel. It has been five months since my very very disappointed experience at this hotel. I stayed there last August and it was the most miserable experience of the entire six weeks I spent in Scotland. No air conditioning in the entire hotel. I paid over $350.00 per night due to The Fringe taking place. I tried to check out and was told by Marriott corporate that since I had already checked in I would be charged for the entire three nights. The room was small for a residence inn and not very clean. They offered me a fan for the room and told me to open the windows. What a joke!! It is not in a good location unless you are interested in the university. I did stay in different hotel while in Edinburgh which were less money with excellent locations. I am also a Bonvoy credit card holder which I thought would amount to something when I tried to cancel after checking in. It did not amount to anything. How disappointing.”

“Old English vibe to the Decoration of the rooms which is exactly what I was going for, for my trip to Edinburgh. The reception is open from 8am to 8pm which are handy times for when you need them. On-call Cleaning is available from 8am to 12pm which gives you more than enough time in the morning to ring the receptionist and let them know you might want the room cleaning or to just empty your bins. Perfect place to relax and have a nice time in Edinburgh, I myself stayed for a week and every day I was just in awe at how wonderful the rooms were and have great the service was too, highly recommended.”

“We had truly the most fantastic time at House of Gods. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special and no request was too big. It was so lovely to be able to have specialist cocktails and delicious pizza in a cosy bed, and so much attention to detail was put into the entire place. I would say that a few criticisms of the place are valid - it is quite dark, the rooms are quite small, and our room didn’t have a real window, just a fake one. However, they had set up lights on the other side to emulate day light which was quite nice, but a real window would have been nicer. I would absolutely stay again without a hesitation and highly recommend a stay here if you’re looking for somewhere special to stay in the city. A normal hotel it is not, but if you like dark, sexy, and moody then you’ll love it.”

“Cannot fault at all, easy check in, polite and friendly staff, room was amazing, and the little extras just topped it off like the complimentary sherry or the lovely products in the bathroom. Plus free car parking!! Would definitely book again, 4* for location as would just be a bit easier if closer to the city centre, however it's a short taxi / bus ride away so no big issues there. Nice and quiet from road noise as well so no issues. Room was lovely, 4 poster bed, bath, shower, tea coffee making facilities again cannot fault at all. Would definitely stay again.”
