“We took advantage of the lovely autumn weather and decided to do a short walk from Felixkirk and afterwards had lunch at the Carpenters Arms. We were both immediately impressed with the quiet and beautiful location with far reaching views. The interior of the pub was warm and inviting, clean and well decorated throughout. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who showed us to our table which overlooked the rear garden and a grand view. We ordered our food, the pie of the day and the pork belly, both of which we thoroughly enjoyed and will certainly have again. The staff were friendly and happy to help. “Had a really nice stay here for 1 night. The room was clean,tidy, a good size, and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern and with a good pressure shower. The hotel is very clean and relaxed with a good, well stocked bar. All the staff we encountered were both friendly and helpful, especially Curtis, in the restaurant. Overall, it was an excellent place to stay in Harrogate, both close enough to the main shopping places and far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. “Called in for a coffee while out walking, as it was New Year's day the Terrace restaurant & coffee shop were closed to non residents, however, the lovely young lady on the reception at the Spa was more than happy to serve us a coffee. For example, a member of staff slightly (and I mean slightly) spilled some cappuccino onto the saucer. The member of staff proceeded to make a brand new cappuccino (even though we would have been more than happy with the original cup). The food was of the highest standard. One of the best steak pies I have ever had. The menu is very impressive and we will definitely be returning to try other options. There are also plenty of food options for children (our two year old daughter really enjoyed the fish, chips and beans). Our daughter also loved visiting the farm animals before and after our meal. A real gem of a place.”

“Called in for food as we are staying in the car park in our van. What a gem of a pub, staff ever so friendly, reasonably price drinks (soft & non alcoholic- dry January). And such a great selection of cask ales too. Food was spot on, lasagne & steak pie, and I mean very nice, chips were like chip shop chips. Very busy, think it was the land lady, run off her feet changing kegs, 4 in the hour we were there and all with a smile and whilst checking on the customers. When we are back out this way, we'll be calling back in.”

“We were fortunate to get a room and dining experience at the Angel at Hetton for New Years Eve. The accommodation was first rate, with no expense spared on the furnishings, their fit and facilities. We stayed in the main restaurant building, which was ideal, giving us easy access for our evening meal which was the tasting menu. As we had been to the restaurant before, we were aware of the service standards and quality of the food and dining experience, all of which are not deteriorating over time, in fact they are improving. The staff were familiar faces from our previous visits, giving confidence to the guests dining that the staff were spot on with their work and communication. No disappointments here, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The food is exquisite, with taste sensations coming to you on each course, amazing food and you can understand why Michael and team have a Michelin star, although why it's not 2 stars is a conundrum. At the end of the evening service, having retired to the bar for the customary NYE celebrations, to see Michael and his team all gather round at midnight was a testimony to their team spirit, it was lovely to see. Having had a great nights sleep, the breakfast tasting menu didn't disappoint either, with the service and food top notch. Overall, not disappointed and pleased that even though we didn't think it possible, Michael and team are continuing to improve and innovate, well done!”

Two course meal was lovely, the beef cheek; so succulent and fell apart. Same couldn't be said for the sprouts which were practically uncooked. Service was great, although more than one server on the bar should have been arranged for such a big event, the poor man was stressed & snappy. Overall a fabulous night, would go again.”
