“What a gem this hotel was! From the staff being so attentive and professional, to the room meeting every expectation, I would 10/10 recommend this hotel. The location is in a great location to the river walk and is walking distance to anything nearby. The hotel was noticeably clean, and that was from the exterior down to the halls and room itself. Our hallway had a filter water station with an ice machine built into the wall which was a convenient addition. Our dog stayed with us and she had the best time, as the room was plenty of room to get comfortable and there’s a park right around the corner. Black out curtains, built-in drawer refrigerator, excellent AC temperatures for the room.. The list goes on. Thanks again for the awesome stay I will certainly be back!”

“I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location was incredibly convenient, and the breakfast was hands down the best - warm, generous portions, a wide variety of drinks, and a clean dining area. The staff was nice, though the rooms were just okay. The sheets seemed well-used but were clean. Kudos for providing ample bathroom toiletries; it’s a rare find. Despite the broken elevator on the 4th floor, I’d return, mainly because the breakfast was exceptional.”

“I spend from 6 to 15 day per month with Hilton hotels. This was my first and last time staying at this location. No good customer service in the front desk . Last night I ask for the complementary water and the men in the reception made faces to me and pointed to the water and said get one. All other location tell us welcome to the ___ hotel . Thank you for been a Diamond member will you like a complementary waters. Breakfast area no plates no fruit or to go breakfast bags. Room with no lotion and no conditioner. Ask to refresh the room fail and nothing done. Next week will go back to the Hampton or Embassy. How they muy comment in consideration. Hotel is not new but in good condition all its need is good customer service employees.”

“I’m So upset right now… How is a hotel going to kick you out because you asked them to get someone that talks English to clean your room. Really??? All the workers y’all have to do the cleaning up that I approached, swear up and down, “me don’t speak English.” I call downstairs to the front desk to request a English speaking individual & you want to blow the entire situation out of proportion! Like I’m asking y’all something crazy…. That’s the language I speak. I don’t care about race but last thing I checked , their should always be someone that can communicate. Then y’all got the nerve to tell me I need to leave y’all facility. Shame on you guys! This is America and English is the first language spoken. Period. If their not bilingual, why have them working there? I understand you are privately owed, but you need to step up and do better. This causes a communication barrier. Communication is the key on all perspective here. You don’t have to worry. I won’t be coming back here ever again with my family.”

“Let's start with positives. Great location, 5 star night shift auditor, easy parking, nice indoor pool and good breakfast. Problems: Check in experience was not the best, though it didn't take long but when I asked help desk to extend my stay one more day she told me that I can do it myself online, I realized that I can't edit but I can only book new day and then I have to check again with front desk to assure that I don't need to change room the day after. AC works only if the outside temperature is below 90. No cold air between 3-9 pm. Only one elevator works and it needs attention, stopping at floors is scary and it's unbelievably slow. We spent two nights there and there was no room cleaning service in between. The shower gel container is empty and only 1 small hand wash soap bar was available. The next day we ordered extra towels but we didn't get any till we checked out. We tried the pool and there were not enough towels. The center piece rug is sticky. Flooring in the common area is uncleaned. Finally, the sofa bed was the worst among any we have tried before. Usually my kids fight on who sleeps in the sofabed, this time nobody wants it.”

“No secure parking, be prepared for your vehicle to be broken into. Nice hotel, clean, good location and good breakfast, but no crime prevention in place. My truck was broken into overnight and staff was indifferent. Apparently this is a common occurrence in this area, yet this particular hotel has decided not to install cameras. Camera systems are relatively cheap so they must just not care enough to try and protect their customers' possessions.”

“Very nice hotel. The front desk was friendly in letting me know the details of the stay. He even offered some things to do. I saw reviews with complaints about the fact that they don't clean the rooms every day and people didn't know. When I checked in I was told and there is a very legible sticker in the bathroom mirror stating this. They also said to just notify if anything was needed and they would have the room cleaned and/or restocked. I had no issues with this. I was there for 2 nights so I didn't need anything. I did notice there wasn't any hand soap at the sink. I'm assuming they forgot to stock it and I'm hoping it's something they actually supply. I carry my own so it was fine. Only issue I had was with valet. I didn't mind the price. I was charged $42 for it. I didn't realize that the cars are kept off-site about a block or 2 away. I didn't feel comfortable with that. The attendant from the day I checked out wouldn't let me request my car in person. He said it had to through a text that had been sent, but I had deleted it. I deleted it because the other attendants were allowing for me to do it in person. There was a timer after I sent the request for my car. 8 minutes in he comes up to me to ask if I requested it or not. Made me think what was the point if he didn't even know I did it. A small price to pay I guess for an otherwise unproblematic stay.”

The jets in the tub never work and there was dirty towels left in the room. The bed was comfy though and Location with the atmosphere was the only thing saving this 3 star review”

“We were expecting the normal best western, but the staff at this location really went above and beyond. We had fun at the hot pool even the weather being chilly and they had a clean pool and a hot pool as well. The breakfast was also pretty good, eggs, bacon, busquits and gravy, pancakes, and also they had available tea of different flavors. They had granola and other nuts as well for your oatmeal or cereal or your yogurt. I loved the breakfast variations and the fresh fruit. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Comfortable beds too. In San Antonio, I’m looking forward our next visit, thank you!”

“Great Hotel! We stayed here for a weekend for an anniversary trip. The room was modern and updated. We were less than 10 minutes from the Riverwalk and they have a free shuttle! I didn't move my car the whole time! From the staff to the Shuttle Driver Cal was absolutely incredibly. Everyone was super nice and friendly. Their gym was the nicest gym in a hotel I've ever seen. If you are looking for a budget friendly option, with free parking and great service this is the place for you!”

“Hotel was nice and clean. I have a complaint about the restaurant/ bar. Sasha gave us amazing service our first night. Great hospitality. We absolutely adore her! The second night was the worst experience. Kevin didn’t allow us to eat our food in the lobby when families were eating their takeout food there the night before. We had to bring our food up to our room instead of being able to eat with our family that is also staying at the same hotel, different room. When we told him that other people were eating there the night before his response was “well they shouldn’t have let them”. Also there was no sign around stating no outside food/drinks allowed. We were planning on drinking at the bar but that experience was just ruined it. Plus the table we were sitting at wasn’t a dining table on the restaurant side. It was more towards in the lobby. That “rule” of not being able to eat near the restaurant definitely has to go.”

“I stayed here with my boyfriend for a long weekend and it’s a fantastic hotel. The location was great; walkable to the Alamo and the Riverwalk. The room was very comfortable, I got good sleep on the bed which is very rare for me when I don’t sleep in my own bed. The only negative I experienced was the bathroom wasn’t quite wide enough to keep the door open and stand at the vanity, but that was really minor so it didn’t impact my stay at all. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Complimentary valet was definitely very convenient and a huge plus! (Just as a side note, my boyfriend and I both saw two different shadow figures in two different places in our room at different times. Not a downside in my opinion and they seemed benign, but I definitely think this hotel is haunted)”

“The O'Brien is a unique historical find among the chain hotels in the San Antonio convention area. The hotel is just off the Riverwalk but not among or like all the standard "convention" hotels in the area. It has a unique history and interior decor. My king room was larger than most and clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful with directions, suggestions, etc. It is a good, off the tourist area value for the cost. Being "across the river" from the Riverwalk tourist areas there could be more shops, local restaurants, neighborhood ambiance but being as it is such a short walk to those on the other side, it is not a big thing. Perhaps over time, this area which is now largely big parking lots will get developed with a "historical" feel like some of the other adjacent areas.”
