“Many reviews say that’s an old hotel, agreed but this where its charm comes from. Rooms are very comfortable, big and nice beds, very clean everywhere. Location is convenient for exploring Hobart or to reach out to transport. Staff was helpful making all efforts for us to feel welcomed. Good food and well stocked bar. For us it was exciting to stay in such an historical building and dream of old times half frozen sailor’s luxury refuge.”

“We were so glad we booked this place for our trip to Hobart. Location is the best as you walk out and you are in the best part of Hobart. We stayed here especially for the Saturday markets as its right next to it. However it is about 10-15 minutes walk into the CBD area where most retail stores are. We loved exploring Battery point and Salamanca. There is also the Salamanca fresh supermarket nearby for groceries. We had the 1 bedroom studio with kitchen and it was very comfortable. Free laundry was also handy. They also have onsite parking which i believe is free if you book direct and if not there is a fee to park. Staff were very helpful. We would recommend this hotel.”

“Have been here for meals several times, taken family & friends. Usually good but tonight I think our order was missed. which happens sometimes & we waited an hour whilst others were served ahead of us. Wanted to pay for entree & leave but manager then made excuses, booked out etc but never been a problem before & no suggestion it might be an issue when we walked in. Then made us wait while she checked with kitchen then offered meal as takeaway. We have a nice takeaway around the corner so no thanks. We just wanted to go, night ruined after positive news re chronic illness. Poor form.”

“One street away from the actual waterfront. Down a sidestreet, so don't expect any views. Comfortable and quiet. An older style hotel/motel building that has been refurbished. Good sized room with kitchenette and a massive bathroom. Styling of bathroom and kitchenette is a little older style. Bed is very comfortable, not too soft, not too hard. Fluffy pillows. Good quality towels and linen. Good air circulation. Clean and quiet. Front desk is not manned after 9pm (or thereabouts); access is via key to front door.”
