Seasta Beach Resort Sitio Cemento, Baler, 3200 Aurora, Philippines

“The room was good and it was exactly as advertised. Parking was a bit of a problem. We had to wake people up so we can get out of the property and someone else had to do the same after us. The worst part was the restaurant service. Food was average but service was terrible. My brother ordered Americano and paid for it upfront but decided he wanted to put creamer and sugar but when he came back the restaurant had no sugar. He tried to cancel the order but they requested us to wait. 30 minutes later sugar arrived. They replaced the coffee since it was already cold because of the wait time only for the service crew the next day to tell us that the crew that gave us the replacement coffee left a bill for us to pay before checking out. The staff tried contacting the person my brother dealt with the night before but they can't seem to reach him so we just paid for it so we can go. Such a bad experience. Never coming back here again. And it wasn't just us that had a problem with the restaurant. We heard someone cancel 2 orders of sisig because it took forever to come out. It was Maundy Thursday and they were fully booked, they should have gotten ready for influx of orders. Obviously they didn't.”

“It’s our second time to stay here today, and it hasn’t been as pleasant as the previous one. Some staff members have been quite unhelpful so far. First, our PWD companion asked for some help in calling a trike, and the staff refused outright, saying no trikes frequent the area at that time (around 8:30pm). Just 5 minutes later, my PWD companion got a trike on her own. Another incident, my companion picked the wrong breakfast for me by mistake. I politely asked the kitchen staff to please replace it with my correct choice and returned it. Minutes later, again, the staff refused. She went to our table to tell me that I picked that dish so I’m not allowed to replace it. How hard could it be to change that check mark on a piece of paper? Third, I asked one staff about the foot massage rate. She said it was 500 (she sounded unsure, to be fair). When the massage therapist arrived, she said the rate was actually 900 per hour, which was expensive even for Manila standards, and nearly twice the amount I was informed. I had to cancel and apologize, and I just gave a tip to the therapist for the hassle. Overall, the stay is still okay, and the rooms are spacious and clean, and has a spectacular view. Some staff members are just a bit of a letdown. I still like this hotel, but I believe a refresher on customer service for its staff is absolutely necessary.”

“Staff were very courteous and accommodating, allowing us a super-late check-in, offering to cook our breakfast early, and letting us check out later than usual during a non-peak month. The bed in the room was quite excellent (though the king-size room runs a little small), and the aircon was almost too powerful. The pool was quite nice too, not too cold at night. Quite tranquil, quiet place, at least off peak season. Will definitely come back for their new bar (being built at the time of writing) after July 2024!”

“This beachfront property offers great value for money. The rooms are relatively small but the bathroom is surprisingly spacious. The place is well-kept and clean. They offer free breakfast with decent variety. Main entree - beef tapa, longganisa, pork tocino and bangus - were all a bit dry and need to be improved; but they are supplemented by diff items per day - congee, champorado, crab and corn soup, ensaymada, suman, etc. - which were all good. The live performer on acoustics guitar at night is very good and provided great entertainment from 8–10pm. But sound-proofing is not good, so even though we stayed at the opposite end of the resort, we could still hear the music from the room. If you have little ones who need to go to bed before 10pm, you may need to consider this. The best part of staying at this beachfront property is that it allows guests to enjoy the sunrise either at the veranda on the second floor or by the infinity pool or by the shore. Surf instructors are effective - Aliya is allegedly the first to offer surfing lessons in Baler. Within an hour, most people learn to get up on the board and glide to shore. This is a highly recommended facility for those looking for a great-value venue. All the best restaurants are also around this area. Oh, one of the highlights of the trip was the ATV ride by the river trail (separate review), and if you are a guest at the Aliya, you get a 10% discount. That’s another great-value-for-money deal!”
