“We stayed at Lions and Lanterns for 5 nights and had a WONDERFUL experience! The room/bathroom was beautiful, super comfortable, had all of the necessities, and felt luxurious. We really appreciated the recommendations we were provided with after we booked/the day of check in; they did not disappoint! It was super convenient to be able to text Josie and get a quick response if we had a question or needed anything. There were lots of little conveniences such as an umbrella outside our room for rainy days, access to beach equipment, card games, etc. We wish all hotel/b&b stays could be this awesome!”

“Arriving and discovering the size of the room, along with having a terrace, left me pleasantly astonished. This place truly stands out for its exceptional quality considering the price. During check-in, Kory at the lobby was remarkably kind. (I intended to write this review immediately, but I've been delayed, so I'm unsure if I remember the name accurately. To the kind gentleman, thank you!) It's a place where it feels almost regretful to only use for sleeping. The staff during breakfast treated us so kindly, just like family. During my travels where my primary need is a place to sleep, I frequently choose Holiday Inn, and this stay might just be the warmest memory I'll retain. We connected our HDMI cable and enjoyed watching movies comfortably. The bed is crucial, and its higher height compared to other places made it even more comfortable. Moreover, we were promptly assisted with a downtown tour at a discounted rate, enhancing our enjoyment of St. Augustine beyond our expectations. This is a place I'd love to revisit.”

“The front desk person could not have been nicer or more accommodating. It was the closest and the cheapest when I first got into town after a long drive. The first room smelled like mold. I requested a change which she quickly granted then the second room had a more faint smell of mold and sand in the bed. I went to the front desk to let them know it wasn’t going to work out and they gave me a refund right away. The rooms looked decent but I couldn’t get past the smell and sand in the bed. Much happier at the Hampton inn up the road though it is twice the price.”

“I just wanted to share my experience at this location. We showed up with a reservation that apparently didn't exist thanks to a third party company. Not only did the front desk assistant Shawayna go above and beyond to help find our reservation, she helped us cancel the old one and honored the rate. She was incredibly helpful, and made our stay more than easy. Because of that 5 star all the way. Its the effort to help the customer that truly separates this location from others.”

“Clean rooms with location close to all the attractions. Great stop for the dogs with nice grassy area out back and a pet clean up station. Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. From the cars in the parking lot, it seems to be a bit higher end clientele. Very safe. Really liked the outside deck that overlooked the tidal area out back. I saw a huge snapping turtle out there so keep an eye out if you have small pets. Typical Florida.”

We called the front desk and they were very casual about offering us another room, that we could stay in our current room until the next was ready. We decided to check out and find somewhere else to stay. They were again very casual about us wanting to check out, not very apologetic at all about the situation. We were very disappointed since we had stayed at this hotel many times in the past over many years with no issues.”

“The decor and atmosphere of the property is bright, and pleasant. The staff was fantastic, from the front desk staff (Devin and the day young woman, Sarah I think?) who were friendly and attentive to the bartender to the maintenance staff--all excellent. The areas that need a bit of improvement were: -At check in we expected and had reserved a single king room, and were provided a double queen. We were told there were no rooms available. After we unpacked a single king room was found. (A minor inconvenience). -The room we ended up with had an issue with the water-- it smelled like rotten eggs to the point where we had to continually run the bathroom fan and use bottled water to brush our teeth. -Some other comfort and convenience related issues-- there were no hooks or towel racks in the bathroom, and the chairs in the room were extremely uncomfortable, there was only 1 breakfast option that fit within the allowance of $10., and parking was pricey. The hotel is not quite upscale enough to justify the cost of parking and breakfast, but with a higher level of comfort and convenience (comfortable chairs and pillows, conveniences like towel hooks, a shuttle downtown) perhaps it would. If I return to St. Augustine, I will probably stay at the Hilton closer to the downtown area if I have to pay for parking, as it will save on transportation costs and/or walking time.”
