“We had the most magical stay at Cuyama Buckhorn—so glad we went out of our way to check it out! We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and could not say enough good things. Would absolutely double back for the tri-tip and XXL salad. The staff was amazingly accommodating for our kids, who enjoyed the gorgeous grounds as much as we did. Will definitely be back!!”

“DO NOT STAY HERE! They allow smoking right up against the building and in the hallway it smell like smoke. People outside smoking it goes to the vents and into your room. The patio by the fire pits, people are allowed to smoke. Someone smoked all night. My room smell like cigarettes and no one did anything. Horrible just horrible, I called the front desk And the line just rang. I went to the front desk and I was told they were allowed to smoke outside by trash but they were in the patio by the fireplace. Horrible just horrible, the assistant manager was dismissive, the manager Rick didn’t even bother to come outside. Nothing was done. I will be contacting corporate.”

“For a supposedly 4-star hotel, I was disappointed especially given the cost. Rooms: The size was ok but our juliette balcony faced the garage next-door which was hugely disappointing (why even have juliette rooms on that side?). There is no tea-coffee in the room. TV is outdated. Furniture is mix-matched as if randomly collected from various yard sales. Not the sleek decor I was expecting. The thermostat does not allow for "heat" or "cool" but only auto so during the night, we were blasted with both AC and heat and could not achieve a comfortable room temp. Staff: Friendly on the surface but impersonal/rushed. Had to call twice for luggage to be brought up to room. Amenities: I do think the rooftop is quite nice to lounge about. Views are excellent and the area does feel serene. Sounds like they had a hot-tub at one point which definitely would've been a bigger plus. We had to ask for robes/slippers which I think should be provided for each room automatically at a 4-star place. We also had to independently discover that they have bikes which guests can take to cruise around. This is not advertised well. Food: We did enjoy our breakfast from Finch & Fork but they charged me double (room service they automatically charged to the room) and I find no easy way to correct this mistake. Location and roof-top are pluses but the rest of the experience lacks.”

It's a little far away from Santa Barbara downtown (15min drive). Overall we enjoyed it and would stay here again.”

“I never leave reviews but, I couldn't let this slide. I love Marriott hotels, but this Fairfield is not a good representation of the brand. The mini fridge shuts off after 2 hours. Our food spoiled, and apparently, the hotel is aware of this. They should not advertise that they offer mini fridges. The room was rundown, the walls were very thin, and the bathrooms need an overhaul! Our toilet seat kept sliding, the shower faucets had mold and the shower head would not fully turn on because the knob was broken so both the shower head and bath faucets stayed on. The hook to hold the bath towel was falling off. I would not recommend this hotel!”

Personally think it’s worth the higher price to get a room with a view, the ocean view from the balcony is amazing for sunset or enjoying breakfast. Sadly their restaurant isn’t great (have a separate review just for it), otherwise ordering room service and enjoy on the balcony would be a perfect start or end of a day. On the other hand, some rooms without ocean view faces the parking lot, with second level direct above garages, could be noisy during busy hours.”
