“This is a very beautiful location with many of the rooms having balconies overlooking the lake. Guests have safe parking. There is a small shop on site and an excellent ice-cream outlet. All of the members of staff are helpful and friendly. There are attractive restaurants along the lake side. Other eateries may be found in the small town. There are of course churches to visit. There are also Nordic Walking Parks. Not all rooms are air conditioned”

“most beautiful hotel one can wish for. Gorgeous gardens, big terrace with stunning views, rooms are spacious and authentic Italian style. Girls at the reception are very helpful, speak perfect English and were able to help us a lot with restaurant reservations and more. If you have an issue to solve and there is an aged man/who understands no English at the reception- just wait for the girls and ask them. It’ll be fixed Private beach was a great bonus. We swam every day”

“Absolutely magnificent dining experience. Each dish was more delicious than the last. We had the "Origins" menu and highly enjoyed the tastes of the season- mouth-watering saffron risotto, assorted pork, exquisite ravioli with truffles. The veal and cod were also impeccable. The desserts were cullinary heaven- tiramisu and pear with a white chocolate ball of deliciousness that can hardly be described. Perfection. I almost wept when the meal was done as it had been such a moving experience. Highly, highly recommended. Warning- the drive up the mountain may not be for the faint of heart, especially in rain and fog, but worth every hairpin curve and turn from Stresa. Wonderful and attentive host and staff, catering to every need and whim and whatsapping us to make it past road closures. My only regret was that it was dark and we could not see the presumably amazing view.”

“Lovely hotel in a great location but I'm afraid the front of staff were really awful to us.. It was pouring of rain and we were on motorcycles and they didn't really want us there dripping water.. The hotel was lovely though if you weren't on a bike they would probably be OK..”

“Slightly old fashioned establishment it put me in mind of Agatha Christie (I had visions of Hercule Poirot walking through the door). Comfortable room with a wonderful view of the lake although, being alongside a road, could be a little noisy early in the morning. Convenient for the many lake ferries and a short walk from the railway station. Staff excellent, well trained by Claudio. A good option for those wishing to stay in Stresa”

“Stayed here with my girlfriend. The hotel is clean and tidy, rooms and bathroom were cleaned well. The staff were helpful and friendly. The parking spots next to the hotel are a bit limited and taken up quickly, but they have ample additional ample at a location about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Breakfast is good, diner at the hotel isn't really bad, but better dining options are found in the surrounding area. Absolutely wouldn't mind staying here again.”

“I will never recommend this hotel. The AC doesn't work (you have to ask at the reception to turn it on...), it was 34 degrees during the day and like 26 degrees in the room st night, we could not sleep with the window open because there is traffic, the windows are poorly isolated anyway and you can hear all the traffic, so no good night sleep overall. The breakfast is standard, no fruits, nothing fancy. The furniture is old, cracked and yellowed out, doors are squeaky, and the towels are old, however, everything in good shape. Having breakfast or dinner on the terasse is a pain as there is a lot of traffic. The staff is not very friendly, besides Valeria who greeted us in the first day. Also, the hotel is facing east, meaning in the evening it won't have too much sun at the beach or pool. Additionaly, if you want to stay at the pool after you check out, they ask for 20 euro extra, because why not. Besides the location with theview at the lake and the old building there is nothing, nothing that I can recommend this place for. For 250 euro a night this is such a rip-off.”

“Shower gel was opened and used almoust in total. The staff, even after room cleaning didnt left a new set of cleaning products. Walls of the room are very thin, you are able to hear what neighbour on the other side is speaking. Air conditioner fixed on one level of temperature. Matress very comfortable Hotel is localized in very good place with the view on the lake. Very nice breakfast with a lot of things, which is not common in Italy - usually croissant and Coffee.”

“Stresa and Lake Maggiore are not to be missed. The Moderno makes a good base. I suggest you ask about the rooms before selecting, as the hotel encompasses several buildings and the rooms vary. The Hotel is a good value for the price, but it is ageing and somewhat dated. We like firm mattresses and our room had the firmest mattress ever!”
