“Old vibes, it feels like traveling in time and living the 1900s. I loved it for sure. The rooms and halls are super clean and it smells wonderful. My room had a view of downtown towers and it was always clean. One thing to keep in mind is that bathrooms and showers are outside rooms, kind of communal. However, I always found them available and super clean. The front desk is friendly and there is complimentary coffee drinks (machine) 7am to 1 pm as well as a microwave. The location is prime and totally worth the price. Loved my stay over here. One thing I wish I had better is thicker covers to keep me warm at night especially because I stayed during late December.”

“This used to be my go-to hotel when staying in SF especially when I would do a night with my now 19 year old. I don’t know what’s happened but this has been a truly disappointing experience starting when we arrived to drop the car and our bags before walking to lunch. I parked out front and waited for the valet who didn’t come out. I inadvertently parked in the bike lane when we took our bags in and they wouldn’t move my car until I parked in the lane outside the valet parking signs. The folks at the desk were not friendly and helpful and it was if we were burdening them with our arrival. The fact that I’d stayed here a half dozen times should have shown in my profile. Our room has windows facing essentially a brick wall and the windows of another room. For the same rate in years past I’ve had actual views of the Sf streets. It doesn’t seem to be busy in the hotel so I would have expected they would have given us a nicer room if for nothing else than to engender good will and give Sf a better reputation. We won’t be staying here again. I am very disappointed.”

“This was our first trip of the year and the trip that I proposed to my now fiancee. We loved how we were greeted with great hospitality by the Concierge. She was very informative and helpful with providing local options for transportation along with options for entertainment/ restaurants. The little details like the White Swan Inn pillow Chocolates, map of the city, and list of recommended restaurants was very nice. The inn was very cute with a lot of historic decorations and architecture. Very central location with a variety of affordable transportation options. We had a comfortable stay and highly recommend!”

“I don’t leave 1 ✩ reviews often but I feel deeply that this is an unsafe, unhygienic, and unsettling place to stay. Like others have mentioned, the reviews that are 5 ✩ seem to be fake or purchased. Concerns with our stay: There is no locking mechanism other than the door code (which does not change between stays). The peephole was missing and so paper towel was stuffed into the hole instead (easily dislodged). The elevator was broken so I had to haul luggage up three flights. The entire floor was thick with smoke from pot. Safety alarms (monoxide, fire) were removed from the walls. The windows in the room would not open. The toilet was broken (did not flush and was very loud). There was no soap in the entire hotel room. There was shampoo and conditioner with missing lids on the floor of the shower. There’s much more but these are the most alarming bits worth mentioning. I would like to add a caveat that if you’re looking for a cheap stay in a nice area, this could be a good find. But it’s not what was advertised and we were not prepared for this sort of stay.”

“We had an awesome week-long stay at the Harbor Court. The king room was spacious, clean and had a comfortable bed. The bathroom was small but functional. We got a room off the street that was super quiet. I especially loved the lobby, which was equipped with tons of great work stations. I found this location far preferable to your more traditional downtown hotel areas like Union Square and SOMA. Close to everything and all transit but not right in the belly of the beast. Would gladly stay again!”

“Pros: The location is AMAZING! The area felt safe and was surrounded by great restaurants. It was even a fairly easy walk away from Fisherman’s Wharf. Easy 5 stars for location. Cons: The rooms were average at best and the management was below average. 1) Our flight was delayed and we arrived in San Francisco later than expected. We called the hotel beforehand and they assured us it was no problem and that someone would be there to let us in. When we got there (hard to find because there was no clear signage - it may have been covered by construction that was being done on the side of the building), the door to the lobby was locked and we didn’t see anyone. After knocking and calling several times, someone finally checked us in but they had clearly just woken up and were annoyed which would’ve been understandable had we not called and confirmed our late arrival would be accommodated. 2) On our last day we went to breakfast and when we got back, the cleaning service was in the room. They only spoke Spanish and I was able to explain that we needed to finish packing so we could leave and they left. However, they had already cleaned the bathroom which we all needed to use once before we left which meant they would have to clean it again. Management needs to do better so that their staff knows what rooms are checking out each day so that the staff and the hotel guests don’t end up in an awkward situation like we did. Summary: If you don’t mind potentially awkward situations with staff and a lackluster room, then this stay is worth it because of the location. Highly recommend Home Plate and Mel’s Drive-In if you do choose to stay here!”

“The hotel staff, room and amenities were excellent and commendable. However, my vehicle was returned by the valet with a significant crack in the windshield and covered in bird feces. I was told by the attendant that my vehicle was garaged overnight which the evidence does not support. I filed a claim and was informed a manager would contact within two days. I have yet to hear from a manager, have my valet charge refunded or be reimbursed for my cracked windshield. Very, very disappointing.”

Fun technology is packed into each living space. The rooftop area has great city views and is accessible by asking a helpful staff to grant access via the elevator. “My wife and i loved our stay here. To start off the location is amazing. We were so close to pier 39 super quick walk from the hotel. The walk to Ghirardelli square was beautiful and so close. The outside of the hotel is clean but i can’t say the same for some of the surrounding businesses. All of the employees were very kind and helpful. I had a very good and helpful conversation with Harris working valet. He was very nice to talk to even helped with naming some good local places that i hadn’t seen on travel websites. My wife was always talking about the cleanliness of the hotel room, and how she hadn’t felt as comfortable as she did here at any other hotel. Overall we loved our stay and plan to come back in following years to come.”
