“STUNNING property, gorgeously maintained. This is what a historic hotel should look like. Friendly staff, wonderful classic cocktails, delicious food options from a thoughtful menu. Streetcar stop directly out front. Short stroll to other cocktails & restaurants along St Charles. Shout out to Joseph & Lauralea for taking care of us! We will absolutely be back.”

1225 St Charles Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130, United States

“After coming from another hostel that had been rather inhospitable to me, the Quisby was my saving grace in a tricky situation. What's more, I don't believe I've ever had a better stay at a hostel in my entire life! The Quisby staff is super friendly and always willing to help. You can get fresh sheets or towel when you need, wash your laundry with provided detergent, eat provided breakfast, and with 24/7 bar + tea/coffee service you will never go thirsty! The rooms are nice too--very comfortable and clean. There's also lockers provided for your items protection, which is quite nice. Your food is safe in the fridge as well! Located right on St. Charles, it's right on the street car line if that's your jam, and not too far from Magazine St. if you feel like looking at local shops. Downtown New Orleans is right at your feet. I never felt unsafe once here and I hope others can feel confident in choosing the Quisby for their next stay. Thank you Anna + everyone else for making me feel welcome so far away from home!! ♡”

The Higgins Hotel New Orleans, Curio Collection By Hilton

Closed until 04:00 PM

1000 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70130, United States

“The Higgins Hotel, a part of Hilton's Curio Collection, offers an experience that uniquely blends historical charm with modern luxury. Located adjacent to the National World War II Museum in New Orleans' vibrant Arts District, this hotel stands out with its stark, almost modern Gothic exterior, which intriguingly contrasts with its Art Deco and retro interior aesthetics. Upon entering, you're greeted by a grand lobby, dominated by a striking floor-to-ceiling mural and period chandeliers, surrounded by an array of tastefully arranged artifacts. This sets the stage for a stay where history and contemporary comfort converge seamlessly. The rooms, particularly the King Room I stayed in, boast a 1940s-inspired design marked by clean lines and military-grade tidiness. The royal blues and golds create a formal yet pleasing palette, enhanced by wartime-inspired artwork and kitschy posters, adding a touch of whimsy. The panoramic city views, a luxurious walk-in shower, and top-notch toiletries and amenities contribute to a truly comfortable stay. A unique feature for guests with access (either staying on the executive floor or as high-tier Hilton Honors members) is the lounge, which houses a piano once belonging to General Patton, adding a significant historical touch to your stay. For dining, don't miss Rosie's on the Roof, the rooftop bar, offering spectacular views, delightful ambiance and good food. The WWII Museum is an absolute must and is just across the street from the hotel. The hotel's location provides easy access to the best of New Orleans. It's not just a place to stay; it's a part of the city's cultural fabric, offering a stay that's as enriching as it is comfortable.”

Royal Frenchmen Hotel And Bar

700 Frenchmen St #1614, New Orleans, LA 70116, United States

“I booked this hotel for the location and availability of parking. It looked nice as we checked in and went to our room. Then things took a turn for the worse. The bed was firmer than the floor and very uncomfortable. We had to call the front desk to check the water heater every time we wanted a shower. It was still only warm and not hot. All rooms can hear the band in the bar all night. There were very good bands playing in the bar. The front desk staff were not familiar with local companies. As an example we asked if we could get a carriage ride from the hotel for sight seeing. They said I would need to look that up online. We will not stay here in our future visits to the area.”

“We really liked this resort. It felt very safe. Was close to everything and super walkable or a short Uber ride away. We wanted to go in the hot-tub but it wasn’t heated enough when we were there in December, maybe lukewarm bath water. We would stay here again. Beware There is a lot of road noise because a highway is right above the resort.”

“No Way! We were in town during the Sugar bowl. Stay closer to the French Quarter, or out in the suburbs. This hotel is in a residential neighborhood, not close to anything. If you're thinking of riding the Trolley on St, Charles - good luck. It's crowded and stops way too often. The hotel is overpriced, dated, dirty and the rooms are too small. You have to step outside your room to change your mind. I'm a Diamond Hilton member and I travel for business too. Since COVID 80% of the hotels I used to stay in have cleanliness issues. I'm talking other peoples hair in the bathroom and bedding, stains in the tub, faulty showerheads and mold in the bathroom caulk. This bathroom was tiny, gross and checks all the other boxes too. Then there's breakfast. Mrs. Molasses that runs the food service and her merry elves are incompetent. I realize things were busy with the Sugar bowl in town, but they knew all this in advance and still couldn't figure out the inventory and workflow. Duh. They ran out of food every morning we were there and it took 20 min to re-supply. Then you'd get biscuits, but no gravy, eggs, but no OJ - one morning the biscuits were frozen in the middle, etc... What happens for Mardi Gras? There will be 10 times the people in town for that event, over the Sugar Bowl. This can't be their first rodeo! I realize the service industry continues to suffer from labor shortages since COVID; however, there are hotels (Hilton, Marriott, etc...) out there that succeed at providing awesome customer service. This isn't one of them!”

Port Of New Orleans

1350 Port of New Orleans Pl, New Orleans, LA 70130, United States

“This is my least favorite port to embark a cruise line thus far here in the United States. The parking and traffic flow is a nightmare. It is super congested and they have different people directing traffic that gives you total opposite advice on where to go and where to park. We ended up having to drive around multiple times before we were given solid direction. Then after you finally get on the ship you have hours of cruising dark disgusting smelly waters of the Mississippi before you get to sea. I would recommend not utilizing this port as there are several ports around the south east that have a much more desirable experience than this port. This was a one and done visit for us ever using this port again. Do yourself a favor and choose a different location to port out of. I only have my own experiences and if you feel otherwise to each their own.”

Lamothe House Hotel

“Great hotel and an affordable price. Miss Mary at the front desk went out of her way to get us checked in early to accommodate our early flight. Miss Chawanda the housekeeper was also very nice and attentive. Very close to a big variety of things to do but out of the way from bar traffic. Hotel has lots of authentic and original details that I love!”

“It's a small hotel. You're not going here for the lush amenities. You're going for the highly social and eclectic crowd it attracts. If you want to stay somewhere that you'll leave with new friends, this may be a good place to try out. The rooms are basic, but clean. The service was wonderful; everyone was super helpful. The location isn't in the best part of town (Let's face it, much of NOLA isn't the best part of town any longer), but I felt completely safe on the hotels property at all times. Stacey is a gem of an employee here. While in the pool, I asked her to book an extra night for me. I didn't realize her shift was ending. I asked specifically for the same room I checked out of earlier that day. The room had been cleaned and the bed stripped; but there were no new towels, waters, and the bed wasn't remade. I asked Stacey to just throw the linens on the bed. I'd remake it myself and apologized for catching her when she was trying to leave. Stacey stayed late and, with a positive attitude, made sure my room was completely back ready to be used again (bed made, plenty of towels, water, more toilet paper, etc.).”

“The location was excellent. The room was fine; met all needs. The desk staff was horrible; lazy, uninformative; begrudgingly willing to even talk to you. Room staff was great, quite the opposite. Hotel suggests they have a bar; they don’t. They have full bottles to sell. They also comp absolutely nothing; everything is an up charge. Despite the convenience of the location, unlikely to stay here again.”

“This place is in a fantastic location. Really close to a lot of great hot spots. The room I had was a little more rustic than I was hoping for. Specifically, the bathroom may be ready for an upgrade. There was also issues with the hot water as there hardly was any. For the price, I was hoping for a little more.”

“We stayed just 1 day and were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded (I've never been upgraded before). I prefer to stay in boutique hotels over national brands, and this hotel is no exception. The staff is very friendly and eager to help with anything. While there is no breakfast, there is coffee available in the lobby. Everything is within walking distance. I parked my car (the cost is $45 around the corner) and forgot about it until we checked out. Will gladly stay here again.”

La Galerie Hotel French Quarter

131 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70130, United States

“We arrived 30 min before official "check in" time and asked the gentleman if it was okay to check in early -- he enthusiastically said yes, our room was ready. The room is cute and modern. My ONLY complaint about the room was the shower pressure and noise BUT if you leave your TV on low, it gets rid of a lot of the other guests noise (walking in the hall/etc). There are two sets of stairs that lead you outside (get back in with your room keycard) AND an elevator. We utilized the stairs a lot-- especially for smoke breaks. This place was close enough to everything to enjoy but not close enough to deal with the raging partying noise that goes on. The employees of the restaurant next door are nice (met them on 'smoke breaks') as well as the staff at the hotel. There are some homeless in the area (as any city has)-- just be very respectful of everyone---they didn't bother us. We donated rain covers and umbrellas on our last day (as we wouldn't need them anymore). All the employees were super friendly at the hotel--- the gentleman with the long braids at night (HIYA!!!) and the older gal during the day.....both welcoming and a riot to talk to!! You wont need to bring shampoo/etc because there are pump bottles inside the bathrooms. Literally, anything you need, ask.”

“I am truly happy for choosing this hotel. The room was beautiful and cosy, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were just so kind. Everything is well organised and their lobby is beautifully decorated. Air conditioning worked well, it was clean. Great location, short walk from good breakfast - Mother's and the Ruby Slipper, Canal Street and all the iconic restaurants. We will definitely stay with them next time.”

“Ashley L is the best employee I have ever encounter with! She has the best customer service I done ever seen! The young lady is caring, expert in her field and very understanding. My family was so grateful for her help as we travel her for a family funeral she has made this trip smoothly as possibly. Upon check in she was nice, efficient and very clear explaining the hotel fees and process of parking. Throughout our stay she remain polite by checking on my family during our hard time. She even gave recommendation to help with comfort! Please show her recognition because she not just doing her job. She is doing it with love! This is an appreciation post for Ms. Ashley L. 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾”

“Obsessed with this hotel. The coolest most unique , major vibes 4 star I’ve ever come across in America. There is something to look at & admire in every nook. You can tell design & aesthetics were prioritized. It felt like an experience <3 wish we could have stayed longer. The cafe at the lobby was so nice to grab coffee after a great workout in the AMAZING gym. Like brand new equipment with VIEWS. Literally one of the best hotels ive come across in America. Best part is it’s major dog friendly!”

The Haunted Hotel

“We were given a "courtyard room" B1. It was a King size bed that had seen better days. One side was literally broken and compressed which squeaked every time you sat much less rolled over in the bed. It was so hard my shoulder hurt and could not get decent sleep. The bathroom had a leak so the floor remained wet and we had to place towels to keep from getting our feet wet. The owners were contacted and "thanked us for the heads up" but did not fix the issue while we were there. TV did not work, cell phone service was sketchy in the room and NO it was not haunted. The only ghost we saw was the figurine going into the bathroom. Pic included for your pleasure. The door to enter was a locked gate that did not lock so unsafe and anyone could walk into this area. Good point was location as close to everything and the owner was pleasant and allowed us a later check out time than stated. BTW, check out is 10am not 11am as shown on GOOGLE. Based on overall experience, this hotel is overpriced and we did end up staying in two other places that were nicer and less money.”

2306 Esplanade Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119, United States

“This is a historic space that I've attended events at and it also operates as a bed and breakfast. The noted French artist, Edgar Degas, lived here and produced some of his art here completing 18 paintings and 4 drawings before moving back to Paris. This is the only remaining home and studio of Degas who lived here for only five months when he stayed here with his mother's family during 1872 to 1873. It is a nice space for an event and it looks like it would also be an interesting place to stay at if you wanted a bed and breakfast experience. Overall this is certainly a nice spot to visit if you're in the area.”
