“Our ocean front room was spectacular !!!We even had a tv inside the mirror in our bathroom—loved that!!! We were celebrating my birthday and upcoming retirement so they left a very nice note in our room and a huge cheese and fruit tray and a bottle of wine. Everything here is pure perfection. We had lunch reservations at their Views restaurant and were taken there in a Tesla where the rear doors lifted like wings. The restaurant provided amazing views and we ordered a lobster, scallop and shrimp salad that was sooooo delicious. We’ve learned to get 2 entrees and share them. The other was the most tender & tasty filet mignon. If it wasn’t for the pictures I’d have thought this was a dream. Our room was perfectly situated to watch the beautiful sunrise. Afterwards we enjoyed a satisfyingly delicious breakfast of lobster and ahi tuna eggs Benedict. We then spent the day enjoying the adults only pool with a waterfall and lava rock hot tub. Just as Cinderella’s evening had to end, so did our stay. We enjoyed every single moment while here before flying off in one of their private jets back to Oahu. Thank you to each and every staff member that made our stay so memorable!!!!”

“Beautiful old school resort in Hawaii. Not everyone's cup of tea since it really is very isolated. Perfect romantic getaway. The staff are absolutely a delight and all seem very excited to work there. One of the employees took the time to ask me about all the best Hyatt experiences in my travels. If you take a look at the parking situation you will need a map and also probably need one of the staff with a golf cart to help if you have any ADA concerns. Rooms are clean if generally a little dated. No TVs but AC was available in our suite. We stayed in the Oceanfront Bungalow Premier Suite and the bathroom was clearly updated and refurbished versus the photos on the website. Wifi is a little weak for any serious work at all but it does make up for the spotty cell service. Globalist recognition was excellent. Honeymoon amenity was provided in addition to a paid spa amenity basket (I paid out of pocket). Food and drinks in the hotel restaurant were excellent. The main pool was absolutely gorgeous. The views from the Adirondack chairs are amazing at night with the waves and the clear stars at night. Wished on a shooting star on our last night that we'd be back!”

“So...location was excellent, some great snorkeling a couple hundred yards down the beach. Not my thing but the pools were great for the kids, plenty of them. Duke's was convenient and food was better than average. The rooms were laid out nicely and the kitchen and w/d were handy. But...we found cockroaches in 2 of our 3 rooms, all rooms had a faint smell of smoke and our room just outright stank. One of the kids said it smelled like used cat litter. Carpets were stained. They cleaned one room for cockroaches and supposedly treated our room for the smell which made no difference. They also have the rooms rigged so the AC shuts off if the balcony doors are left open (to air out the room). Disappointing considering I paid for 3 rooms for 10 days! Recommend for the location - just don't book room 438 (or 444)!”

“Great place to stay. The location isn’t the safest or I didn’t feel safe enough, as many homeless people were on street and buildings were really careless condition. Staff is really friendly and everyone was helpful if I had a question. This is the hostel-world. Room was clean and restrooms were cleaned daily, guest can use compliment shampoo and body wash. Everyday clean towel supplied to bathrooms. Every morning guests can do their pancake and have a cup of coffee with no charge. Hostel has a hot tub which looked clean despite it was in use everyday. There are free tours organised in the hostel everyday (only tip required for driver as all based on volunteer basis). There are several shops around its street including cafes, food trucks, gas station( with great coffee too), gift shops and other accommodations. Recommended place to stay.”

“This hotel is nice with a comfortable big bed, nice organized kitchen with dishwasher/microwave/refrigerator etc super useful! And a nice living room with a pool view. The pool is very nice and beautiful, not so crowded. You can hear the ocean water from the pool. We are happy with this place. The wifi works well, the TV is nice. There are something we are not happy like no maid service, no AC. Other than that, this place is a very good deal for Maui!”

“My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights during our honeymoon and really enjoyed our stay! We wanted an adults-only spot that was close to Front Street. The entire hotel is so charming, and the small size and location of it made for a very relaxing stay. Our bed in room 15 was very comfortable, and the room was very spacious. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast every morning, where you get to choose from a limited menu what dish you’d like - the food was decent and the coffee and juice were delicious! The service at the hotel was great, Lynette made us feel very welcome at check-in and the entire staff were friendly and considerate. I think this location can’t be beat, you’re a block from Front street, a few minutes walk from the harbor (for boat excursions), and there are tons of gem food spots nearby. We loved exploring the area, and it was relatively easy to drive to other parts of the island. If you’re looking to support local businesses and experience a relaxing stay apart from all the giant hotel chains you could stay at I highly recommend booking your stay at The Plantation Inn.”

“Review for unit 218. It's a large, 3 bedroom oceanview condo that looks great on first appearance but is plagued by poor maintenance. The two rooms my family occupied had beds and bedframes in horrible condition. The queen mattress had massive indents from overuse and two of the bedframe wheels were broken off causing the whole bed to lean. The twin beds in the second room were poorly attached to the headboards causing them to squeak every time you moved. My 9yo who sleeps like a rock would complain whenever I moved in the twin next to him (Yes, I slept in the twin because the queen was too awful to sleep on). Other maintenance issues: kitchen faucet is loose and rotates, freezer door closes improperly causing the fridge to run warm, patio door is extremely difficult for seniors or children to open, the barely functional AC units leave the interior rooms feeling humid. By far the largest issue, was that management was notified of the bed issues the day we arrived and failed to do anything useful to fix these beds during our week-long stay (our in-laws are there for another week and haven't reported any changes yet). A building rep observed the bed in poor condition on day two. Management sent another rep two days later - while we were away from the unit - that reported the beds to be in good condition. Communication then happened over email with nothing getting resolved as owner communications were slow. Between management procedures and the owner, this is totally unacceptable for a unit that commands >$10,000 a week in rental income. IMO, a big part of a family vacation is getting some R&R and enjoying the beautiful weather that Maui offers. We thankfully got good weather but with sleep deprivation from a poorly run unit. Edit in response to "owner": Susan, if you accept the positive reviews for other units you should accept the negatives as well. There are no "this is only for unit 119" comments on any 5 star reviews for other units. Additionally, it's misleading to have a whole complex of 80+ units only be tagged in Maps as one unit with one business.”

“The rooms are not the same layout, so it is pointless to take photos of the rooms. Our view from our room overlooked the ocean and wind turbines. The unit was nice and upgraded. I only wish it had beach supplies since there is no front office to pop in and borrow items. Parking is plentiful as long as you don't park in resident parking. Laundry facilities on site that you can download an app to pay or use coins. Supermarkets are less than a mile away, as well as a shopping area with restaurants. You do have to purchase the necessary spices to cook and toiletries. They have grills on the grounds and a nice swimming area. I even hear there is a small putting area. Overall, this wasn't a bad unit; I just wish it was better supplied so we don't have to purchase and waste items.”

“I can't speak to the rooms themselves, but I wanted to leave them a good review based on service + exterior as my spouse and I were intending to stay there for our trip, but due to unfortunate emergency, had to cancel our trip at the last moment. They were understanding/accommodating, and we got our deposit back. We've stayed at places around there before though, and always wanted to try it as the hotel and area are gorgeous, with short access to the beach. Will definitely book them again on our next trip to Maui!”

“Stayed at the Ascend for just one night and enjoyed it. The front desk girl that checked us in was legitimately one of the most friendly front desk people I’ve ever interacted with. 5/5 for her personality and service! Room actually turned out to be pretty decent. No complaints whatsoever there. Plus the location is right across from the beach, you just can’t beat it! Only reason I’m giving 4 stars is the price is very high. I think this hotel is worth somewhere in the 175-250 price range at the most. The 350+ rates it goes for is high for this property. They do charge a $25 dollar resort fee, which is totally fine and clearly laid out before you when you book the room. I would stay here again as long as the price comes down to be more comparable with other hotels.”

Trees being cut down, leaf blowers every morning, eventhough it was windy outside. I've never seen soo many rules to stay anywhere, which made it even more not fun. We were staying in B104 and the rules were extreme! Unless you love a load of pointless rules then this might not be the place for you. All around the pool there are more rules, first of which is no Marco polo. Funny because at the end of the long list, if you want to have any fun you should try the beach but all the signs around the grounds say that it's very dangerous! I'd go back to maui but I definitely wouldn't stay here again!”

“The staff here was amazing. The location was amazing right on a nice beach. The hotel itself is very mediocre. To be abundantly clear, you are paying for location only. Do not expect much out of the rooms. It's on par with a nice Motel 6. The hotel has noise issues. I was given a connected room and your could hear every detail of the conversation going on in the next room, and they weren't being loud. There is a lot of noise when people above you move around. Lastly, the pebble sidewalks make a lot of noise when people drag their luggage in the morning. It woke me up. Personally, I would not stay here again because I cannot justify $300 a night on location alone. I would stay here again if it was around $150 a night.”

“Service is great, just text them for fast, kind room service help of any kind at any time. Tough to find that kind of responsiveness in hotel resorts. If you like a hotel a bit more private and quiet, this is the spot. It's labeled as two star resort but likely due to not being completed. Should be 4+ star when completed. Yes, there is construction noise Jan '24 due to the hotel not being completed yet, but put up with some of that during the day and it's wonderful. Nothing is crowded, cabana's with locks are free to use and available poolside. We appreciated being off the main tourist strip and in a more quiet area. Short drive to coffee, shaved ice, lots of food options and larger beaches if you desire. Loved the small beachfront pool and sandy beach that is a part of the hotel, great for families and adults of all ages. Wonderful help onsite booking any kind of excursion or experience you want in Hawaii.”
