“Where to begin. First of all we mistook our reservation and arrived a day early for our tour experience of the castle. However, Roberto went out of his way to find a place for us. He was an excellent pleasant guide of the castle and very knowledgeable on the topic and answered every question. The castle and vineyards were breathtaking in the heart of Chianti, along with the garden, cellars and the very friendly English speaking staff. The food was fantastic, alongside the amazing wines that we got to taste. All in all, a 5/5 experience and would totally recommend visiting!”

“We stayed at Belagaggio in October 2023. Family of 3 with a 2.5y.o. It was pure bliss. The structure is just gorgeous and about to become even more beautiful when the owners' house will also be fully revamped with a stone facade. The surrounding area is incredible as well, and the beautiful Pienza and Montefollonico are quite close. We had the Alcova room with en-suite jacuzzi, perfect room! Food was delicious and freshly made every day by the owners under the supervision of the uber-skilled owner's grandma :) The waiter, Luca, was very fun to be around! The only drawbacks for us were: 1. Dinners are served late and they take a LONG time. Don't expect a restaurant-style service here. You basically eat with the owners who eat in the next room. We used to wait even 45-60 minutes between the starters and the first course. Some days were worse than others. Generally we didn't mind too much, but it can get frustrating at times and we didn't have the courage to tell them because they were so nice to us. Just be mindful if you are an early bird and dislike getting to bed at 22:30 with a very full stomach. Sleep wasn't great afterwards, and I am Italian myself! 2. Breakfast cakes would be served even after a couple days when they were clearly not fresh and enjoyable anymore. While it's okay to do so at home and I get the waste argument, it's not super nice when on holidays and you paid for half board. Other than the 2 drawbacks you should be mindful of, it was a 5-star experience for us still. Thank you!”

You can tell that everything is done here with love and respect for the cultural history of the place. At the same time, the guests are welcome to enjoy every corner of the Convento. “While the hotel is a bit dated, it was a few members of the staff, particularly in the restaurant, that were the main issue from a service perspective. While we had a fantastic experience with one male waiter who served 10 of us with a smile and a sense of humour in a private room on the first floor, many of the staff that worked during the breakfast and tended the outdoor bar area were clearly not happy working there. If you were of Italian descent, you were treated far differently than if you were not and this occurred on multiple days. The difference was palatable. Some of the women who were working the breakfast area had scowls on their face, ignored you or were very dismissive when delivering your coffee. The woman that appeared to be in charge behind the bar was more professional. I recall ordering a drink on the outdoor patio from a young blonde haired waitress one afternoon and after 1/2 hour I went up to ask about the status of my drink, her boss asked her where the drink was and then she delivered it after a few minutes with a scowl on her face. For those waitresses, here's a little tip - If you don't like interacting with people, then perhaps a job in the hospitality industry is not for you. For this reason I will never come back to this hotel nor would I recommend it to anyone of non-Italian descent.”

It is €30 per person and you had to do 2hours. I was tired of it in less than an hour The spa has steam, dry sauna, a couple of showers, a salt room and a hot/cold walkway. It is small, some nozzles don’t work and the flooring in some spaces appeared unstable. I booked the hotel based on the spa pictures. Definitely not worth the price. Coffees were great at breakfast but not a fan of cake for breakfast. Hard boiled eggs were mushy.”
